There was no time for pain No energy for anger The sightlessness of hatred slips away Walking through winter streets alone He stops and takes a breath With confidence and self-control I look at the world and see no understanding I'm waiting to find some sense of strength I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart To show me understanding I need to live life Like some people never will So find me kindness Find me beauty Find me truth When temptation brings me to my knees And I lay here drained of strength Show me kindness Show me beauty Show me truth The way your heart sounds Makes all the difference It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel The way your heart beats Makes all the difference In learning to live Here before me is my soul I'm learning to live I won't give up till I've no more to give No more to give Listening to the city Whispering its violence I set out watching from above The 90's bring new questions New solutions to be found I fell in love to be let down Once again we dance in the crowd At times a step away From a common fear that's all spread out It won't listen to what you say Once you're touched you stand alone To face the bitter fight Once I reached for love And now I reach for life Another chance to lift my life Free the sensation in my heart To ride the wings of dreams Into changing horizons It brings inner peace within my mind As I'm lifted from where I spilt my life I hear an innocent voice I hear kindness, beauty and truth The way your heart sounds Makes all the difference It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel The way your heart beats Makes all the difference In learning to live Spread before you is your soul So forever hold the dreams within our hearts Through nature's inflexible grace I'm learning to live
My sincerest gratitude to you for putting these classics together side by side! As a 15 yr. old teenager I bought Images And Words for Pull Me Under and was instantly blown away with the imagery and musicianship on the album. These guys cemented themselves in my life then and there! Keep rocking! 🤘
@@FirstLast-cd6vv Absolutely I was blown away by it all, but tracks 5-8 were totally unlike anything I'd ever heard before as a 15 yr. old who had grown up on glam bands. Images And Words opened up a whole new world to me.🤘Agreed...11/10 Thanks for reminding me to revise my initial post. 👍
Hi Adam. That's exactly my story with Dream Theatre also. Me and my 15 year old friends listening to Images & Words in awe of it. Great memories! All the best to you.
It reminds me of Once in a LIVEtime (98) live álbum... The last 2 songs of that album are learning to live then it goes right into Change of Seasons VII: The Crimson Sunset. Never get tired to listen!
Standing by the window Eyes upon the moon Hoping that the memory Will leave her spirit soon She shuts the doors and lights and lays her body on the bed Where images and words are running deep She has too much pride to pull the sheets above her head So quietly she lays and waits for sleep She stares at the ceiling and tries not to think And pictures the chain she's been trying to link again But the feeling is gone And water can't cover her memory And ashes can't answer her pain God give me the power to take breath from a breeze And call life from a cold metal frame In with the ashes Or up with the smoke from the fire With wings up in heaven Or here, lying in bed Palm of her hand to my head Now and forever curled In my heart and the heart of the world
@@bryllecortes9780 I thought it was Rush instead of Metallica....either way most of the major prog bands can be heard as influences throughout their discography like ELP, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis etc
Same feeling I always had when listening to Learning to Live. The keyboard solo at the end and especially the following part at 11:49 give me exactly this feeling like both the song and the album are coming to a close. It has that kind of nostalgic/melancholic vibe that gets me every single time. This song is an absolute music/lyrics masterpiece.
YOU'RE THE GREATEST
I like that both songs are in one video. It gives the "Wait For Sleep" reprise at 10:39 so much more impact.
The whole album is a masterpiece of music.
Iik
Yes
These two songs are ...truly great!!
Perfect. The way they are meant to be heard.
There was no time for pain
No energy for anger
The sightlessness of hatred slips away
Walking through winter streets alone
He stops and takes a breath
With confidence and self-control
I look at the world and see no understanding
I'm waiting to find some sense of strength
I'm begging you from the bottom of my heart
To show me understanding
I need to live life
Like some people never will
So find me kindness
Find me beauty
Find me truth
When temptation brings me to my knees
And I lay here drained of strength
Show me kindness
Show me beauty
Show me truth
The way your heart sounds
Makes all the difference
It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel
The way your heart beats
Makes all the difference
In learning to live
Here before me is my soul
I'm learning to live
I won't give up till I've no more to give
No more to give
Listening to the city
Whispering its violence
I set out watching from above
The 90's bring new questions
New solutions to be found
I fell in love to be let down
Once again we dance in the crowd
At times a step away
From a common fear that's all spread out
It won't listen to what you say
Once you're touched you stand alone
To face the bitter fight
Once I reached for love
And now I reach for life
Another chance to lift my life
Free the sensation in my heart
To ride the wings of dreams
Into changing horizons
It brings inner peace within my mind
As I'm lifted from where I spilt my life
I hear an innocent voice
I hear kindness, beauty and truth
The way your heart sounds
Makes all the difference
It's what decides if you'll endure the pain that we all feel
The way your heart beats
Makes all the difference
In learning to live
Spread before you is your soul
So forever hold the dreams within our hearts
Through nature's inflexible grace
I'm learning to live
Perfection.

You weren't blown away with all of it? IAW is about as perfect as a record can be.

❤❤❤...úžasné...❤️
I'm the only one who gets goosebumps in the Wait for sleep reprise?
This, and Far From Heaven + Breaking All Illusions 💯
Masterpieces...that it...that it.

Standing by the window
Eyes upon the moon
Hoping that the memory
Will leave her spirit soon
She shuts the doors and lights and lays her body on the bed
Where images and words are running deep
She has too much pride to pull the sheets above her head
So quietly she lays and waits for sleep
She stares at the ceiling and tries not to think
And pictures the chain she's been trying to link again
But the feeling is gone
And water can't cover her memory
And ashes can't answer her pain
God give me the power to take breath from a breeze
And call life from a cold metal frame
In with the ashes
Or up with the smoke from the fire
With wings up in heaven
Or here, lying in bed
Palm of her hand to my head
Now and forever curled
In my heart and the heart of the world
Perfection.
Kevin Moore for this one and John Myung for Learning to Live... Perfection!
Slayer + Kansas + Jethro Tull = Dream Theater
"Yes + Metallica = Dream Theater"
Even John Petrucci said that.

10:39 is the best part
Just look at that album cover.
No dislikes and for good reason.
There's one. And I guess there are more to come. Such are TH-cam videos. FORGET the haters 😉
Somebody disliked it specifically because you commented on the fact. Well done.
It is something about the last part of this song
