Hi Phil, Sorry for being late to the show watching this video but been away on holiday. You title says "My Most Unusual", I would like to say in my opinion its not your most unusual but its your best ever bowl. It is certainly my favourite of the ones I've watched you turn and as I write this I can't actually think of any other bowl I've seen turned by the other people I follow that can beat it. The character in the root ball is just outstanding and it took a master of his craft to bring that out. Take care Phil. Cheers, Huw
Wow, this is quite a comment, Huw, and believe me, I appreciate it more than you might know! We agree, I'm sure, it's the piece of wood I started with that makes this a truly unique and beautiful piece. The problem is, where do I go from here but down! LOL! Thank you so much, Huw, and welcome back! Phil
@@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop Hi Phil, Just showed the bowl to my wife Jane, and she agrees with me that this bowl is one spectacular piece of turning. I'm sure you'll find something that will take it to an even higher level. Take care my friend. Huw
Your love for your craft is so evident in the time and care you put into each piece. That’s what makes your videos so special. This is truly a masterpiece. I really love this bowl.
Stumbled across a video I hadn’t noticed before. All I can say is I’m so pleased to have found it. This rose root ball is stunning, and I know will always bring you some little solace after the passing of your wife. Wood has such special qualities as you know. It holds memories. I still own a piece of driftwood that my late husband had owned for decades. It is always within my eye line, no matter how often I have moved home, it comes too. I know you will have had much pleasure from looking and holding this piece, as well as moments of sadness. Hold onto it, talk to it (it’s not as nutty as it sounds), and leave your worries and concerns with it. It is will lighten the load. Thank you for posting this and for allowing me to watch the transformation from a ball of confusion to a bowl of delight. X
I am amazed that the rose root ball bowl is magnificent! Phil, you are a master at your craft. The work you do is always my favorite. Thank you again for sharing. ❤ 🙃
What a truly beautiful piece. And such a piece to honor the love of your life. Ron and I watched with wonder. If you look at your finished piece of art we found at least 4 hearts and a half of one. It was your love coming through Phil. I understand the pain after loosing my first husband to cancer after a strong hard fight and Ron does also. He lost his first wife when he came home and found her on the floor. She had already gone Home. Look often at that piece and remember how gentle and loving your wife was while here on Earth and know you will meet again some day.. please stay safe our new friend.
Phil: This is one beautiful bowl. I really enjoyed watching you turn this piece from start to finish. You have such great knowledge of when to stop turning. Thank You. Really appreciate your time
Phil, I believe God gives each of us a special ability and you've found yours!!! The way you work at turning difficult pieces of wood that others wouldn't touch is just amazing. The rose is a beautiful flower and you turned the rose root ball into a magnificent work of art. ♥️😊

Hey Phil, I am just seeing this video from several years ago. I have been working on a huge piece of oak burl wood. It's heavy, wonky, with 2 deep cavities so I could only go so far before I ruined it. So, like you, I made the decision to stop. I was tempted to use some epoxy to fill some of the cavities but my husband keeps whispering to me that he loves it natural, so I decided to leave it as it is. Your video touched my heart over the loss of your wife. That beautiful piece you made from a rose root was a fitting memorial for your bride. Thank you for everything you do. 💗

What a beautiful job Phil. Such a gnarly root transformed into such a unique piece. Wish somebody would send me a chunk of something special like that. Sorry to hear about your wife. Bruce/ Ontario, Canada
Wow! (no one else has used that word, have they? they have?! Well, *WOW*!) Dang it, man! That isn't just nice-- that is phenomenal! In one video, you have shown me that the three root balls I have squirreled away in "Ye Olde Walle o' Woode" are truly worth spinning up, inspired me do actually do it, and revealed an absolutely wonderful bowl just yearning to breathe free! Beautiful! Thank you, Tuffy, for sending Phil that chunk of wonderful gnarly!
Phil I like to watch the challenges you face with each unique turning! I think your a master of the craft. Very happy to see that you don't resin fill these pieces as others would. Resin has its place. But nothing beats what mother nature produces, I tell folks she created it but it is my responsibility to bring it to it's lasting beauty to be passed on. Regards Tim.
Some of the incredible voids and fissures in this rootball are deep and wide so keeping the walls think was a wise decision because that accentuates those features. You certainly made a beautiful swan from something that started as an ugly duckling for sure. I'm sure you would say that the swan was there all along and you just encouraged it to grow out of the duckling. I only recently discovered your channel and subscribed so I'm catching up slowly on older videos like this one. I was saddened to hear you tell of your wife's passing - my sincere condolences Phil. You must miss her.
Kinda looks like one of those plastisized anatomical pieces in the Mutter museum. Spectacular piece of wood. Masterfully turned, by a true craftsman. Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Mr Tuffy for sending it to you.
This is an astonishing art piece! I did hold my breath a lot while watching. If my old beloved rose bushes die, I'm sending their root balls to you. Just, wow.
Haha, I understand, Nan. When I first put this video out, there were guys wondering if they could dig up the root ball and then just bury the stem back up. LOL! It is a beautiful piece and has a lot of special meaning for me. I'm so glad you like it, too! 😊
Hey Phil. It's an awesome one of a kind piece. So twisted and gnarled it is oozing with character, though looks alien, like something from a science fiction movie.
The beauty you have helped release in this piece is utterly breath taking Phil. As I looked & watched I don't think anyone & I mean Anyone, would have made better decisions & to be privy to your thoughts as you talked them through was outstanding my friend. Superb 'work' from a Master of his Craft. If you never 'beat' this piece in the future, I am absolutely sure that you will equal it & many times over at that. Long may you continue to turn.
Looks like a life form! Amazing, something you can have in your hands and by feel, connect with Mother Nature in a deeply special way. It is not a bowl. It is an experience. When you shared the connection with your wife’s passing, it was so much a monument between you, her, creation. I am honored to have taken the trip with you.
Some folks have said it looks like a human heart, Joanne. I feel much like you do about this piece. It really does help to connect with Mother Nature. This will always be a special piece to me. I'm honored you would take your time to watch and leave such a great, heartfelt comment. Thank you very much! Phil

Thank you so much, Stevan! Yes, this piece has a special place in my heart.
Spectacular 🎉😮 what else is there to say.
We totally understand why this is a special piece for you.
Wow!!
😊
You can bet your bootie this is a real special and beautiful bowl.
Very nice piece Phil. Very sorry to hear of your loss.

Kinda looks like one of those plastisized anatomical pieces in the Mutter museum. Spectacular piece of wood. Masterfully turned, by a true craftsman. Thanks for sharing, and thanks to Mr Tuffy for sending it to you.
Ha! I see where you're going with that, Mark! Thank you so much for your kind words, and yes, to Tuffy for supplying this piece of art.
Phil
Awesome looking bowl. It is something very special.
Thank you very much, George, I appreciate your comment!
Phil

It is different for sure!Thank you gorillaau for taking your time to watch and comment, much appreciated!
Phil
another awesome turning
Thank you, Garry!

Thank you, Don, for putting a smile on my face this morning as I read through comments! 😊

Beautiful work Phil! I get a kick out of how you can make something beautiful out of something that's usually discarded. You are indeed a miracle worker, my friend!
