      Love the puffer as a puffer fan. How’s the water quality going? That’s a pretty stocked aquarium for 15g. I just put my fluval 15 flex together a week ago. Been running a lite fish less cycle with plants in the tank. Going to put the first few fish in it this weekend. Maybe a couple pigmy puffers and a danio type 3-4 small fish max to start. Maybe a couple white clouds with the puffers. So how has the water quality been? Would love if I was able to get that level stock out of my 15g. That puffer you have is a big boy comparatively speaking to other 15g type fish. They have large body mass and poop a lot with big appetites. Anyway man great tank happy you are enjoying it. And yeah that puffer is beautiful. I always enjoyed them. Only kept pigmy puffers and figure 8 puffers never one of the bigger freshwater species. Definitely want to hear more about yours!

    The scape looks amazing brother. Yeah; would definitely like to see a spotlight on all those species, particularly the corydoras. I’m looking into suitable corys for my Betta Kingdom that should be shrimp safe (not that the betta is shrimp safe but I’m trying to give them a chance).

    • @LongIslandFishGuy
      @LongIslandFishGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man! Definitely will make the species highlights on all of these fish, especially if it’ll help you and your future plan 😉 Most Corydoras should be ok with shrimp too!

    • @LongIslandFishGuy
      @LongIslandFishGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Should fill it to the honeycombing at the top. I have it so that the outtake tubes still create surface agitation to oxidize the water for the fish!

  • @sunmoongodess

    Such a beautiful tank! I am new to having fish tanks and was wondering do you have to make the water brackish after a while? Also how do you keep your puffer from eating the other fish? Also will you eventually need to put him in a bigger tank?

    • @LongIslandFishGuy
      @LongIslandFishGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This specific puffer will never need salt. It’s fully freshwater! This puffer will not eat other fish either, only snails. It may need a bigger tank as it grows, but most likely will be fine in this tank.

      That’s super cool and lucky he can live with all those other fish. Puffers including spotted Congo can be insanely aggressive and territorial. But like with any living being there are exceptions. I have had fish that their species is known for being fish killers and hyper aggressive and were the most docile relaxed fish. Then some that were supposed to be peaceful and terrorized everything in the tank🤷🏻‍♂️. It is rare that spotted Congo isn’t killing all the other fish in there. Not so much for food but to make the tank for him only. That’s what they will kill for most time. They are smart. And know if they kill what’s in there he will have place to himself. You go lucky he’s cool.

    I bought one for my daughter's room. The white matches nicely with her white (weathered wood) bedroom furniture. One thing I don't like about this tank is the plastic background. It is very hard to scrub the algae of this type of background and ultimately it makes the tank look, in a sense, ugly and polluted. That's because it stands out so much. I am thinking of replacing it with a tank that has only glass sides. And, of course, I wouldn't again buy a tank that has a plastic inner wall. It's the only solution I can think of for having a tank whose appearance is manageable.

    do the neons get stuck in those holes in the tank? I want to get this tank and add guppies+tetras or maybe a different type of fish, but I'm worried that if they're small they get stuck. I had a tetra get stuck and die in my Fluval chi 5gal filter and I don't want my fish to die like that :(

    • @LongIslandFishGuy
      @LongIslandFishGuy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, never! Small fry would get sucked into the filter, but that would happen in most tanks not set up for fry. The holes for the sump in the back of the tank for small enough that most fish would not fit through there and the in take is probably not strong enough to suck in a healthy fish.

      A lot depends on finding a pair. Just like humans, finding the right match isn’t always easy! Also, for fish, breeding certain species is easier than others. Like Geophagus are extremely easy to breed. Thanks for the sub! Key part of the hobby is to always be learning!
