Imagine being one of Mr. Suasge's kids. You've brought nothing but leftover sausages to school for lunch for the past 2 years and you finally see your dad come back from the grocery store with actual, edible, lunch meals. You reach for one but he tells you "Sorry son this is for a sausage!"

Hey sausage man, my friend's daughter is the same way, LOL.
Look up The Takeout's "The Way-Too-Detailed Guide to Recreating Pizza Lunchables at Home", then scroll down to step 1, "The Godless Crust". What the author basically did was use some homemade pizza dough and roughed it up like it was your worst enemy, used 12 grams of sugar and salt. Put them into forms and just overcooked them, ending up looking like stale lil pucks. We followed this and it did the trick, hopefully this helps (more detailed version is on the article).

Your kid might like mini naan rounds. The mass produced ones are pretty similar to the pizza base
I was gonna recommend naan or pita, both are the closest I can think of to small, chewy, circular bread without crust

In elementary we went on a field trip to a nature park and they told us not to bring lunchables because of the waste they produced. My mom was supposed to be bringing me lunch. Not only was she so late she just barely made it to the second bus (I was on the first), she brought me 2 lunchables because they didn’t have what I wanted. Sure enough the teacher made an example of me and pointed out every piece of plastic, made me carry it all day in a paper bag, and then wait until we got back to the school to go through it and see what was recyclable in it as a lesson for the class. Made it a point that I would never eat a lunchable again (I have…oops)

Yep, those pizza bases look just a product called Naan Rounds I find in my supermarket's bakery; they're either with the flatbreads, or with the burger buns, for some reason.
I have had both, and I gotta say they are not the same. The Naan is a decent approximate sure, better for an adult, but for a kid who is picky enough they don't eat the rest of the lunchable. It probably won't scratch the same itch. But that is exactly what I thought too!

@@antitorpiliko Not enough to be a concern. Anyone saying otherwise is uninformed. Even for being above FDA standards, the amount of lead in Lunchables is so low that you need an elemental analyzer to detect- somewhere around 10 parts per billion. Seriously, you get more lead in your body by handling dirt than you do by eating food.
I already knew Lunchables weren't exactly a health-conscious choice, but to see it all in the bowl like that and it being 90% bread and crackers is something else.

I'm not american, so while I've heard of Lunchables being mentioned several times online, this was the first time I witnessed the sheer horror they actually represent. That bread is so white it makes hot dog buns look like a whole grain loaf

Every time I see the pepperoni pizza ones I always buy one and eat it immediately lol though I stealth snack so other adults don't make fun of me for eating trash.
If you have a Smiths of Kroger or something similar nearby: Get some random cheeses, get some buttery crackers, get some salami, get some olive bar stuff.
Cheese and crackers is underrated and honestly you dont need much to get full.
(I like brie, gouda, and blue cheese on crackers. Add some jam or fancy mustard - you're somewhere between lunchables and charcuterie)

Hey Mr. Sausage. Great episode. If your serious about wanting just the pizza bread for your kids you could see if "Stonefire" Naan rounds are available in your area. They look about the same size but idk if they'll taste the same. Let me know if that all works out

Here's a tip if you want Lunchables cheese and crackers: it's just ham, cheddar cheese, and Ritz-type cracks. If it's sufficiently thick cut ham, it gives you that nostalgic flavor that you've enjoyed from trips to the zoo. Remember, the cheapest kind of off-brand is home-brand.
You should look into the pizza blanks in most grocery stores I can not remember who makes them but there on the shelf by the pasta in most stores
I will 100% admit to eating these at 3am as an adult after a night of drinking. We have (at least in Canada) one with summer sausage. Delectable

Or you could just buy one of those pre-cooked pizza crusts they have in the pasta isle at the store.
Yeah, was about to say, mini Naan breads or Boboli premade crusts are pretty much on par, although they obviously come out much better if you still cook the pizza you make with them.

Wet bread, when expressed, will give up its moisture content fairly easily. It's basically just an edible sponge.
A lot of times, the 'sausage water' is actually from putting the soaking wet casing on.
