I was there in the early 70s, don't remember many RAAF drinking there but do remember all us Army guys. Many great times, appreciated the end of tour Steam Boats they put on for us.
Wowwww … It was run by the owner’s son and daughter later on. But I was back as recently as last month. And Jenny (daughter) told me that her brother passed on this year. She is the only one left holding the fort now.
I served there twice with Royal Australian Regiment rifle company Butterworth. 1992 8/9RAR and again with 1RAR in 95/96. Had some of the best times ever there with my army mates. Very sad to hear about the fire. I will return soon and say hello again to Jenny. Cheers.

Visited the Hong Kong bar while in Penang with the Royal Navy late 80's, good memories, friendly people, cold beer. ❤
