i get your opinion on it being a cash grab, but that's not what it is solely. they're splitting it in two parts because they're adding pieces from the play AND the book, and there are additional scenes & a few original songs being added into it, so that adds quite a bit of content!
as for the silver slippers vs. ruby slippers, mgm made the slippers red but in the books, they're silver slippers! so they're not only sticking to the original details, but also avoiding getting in trouble for using intellectual property so mgm can't go after them for using ruby slippers.
and for ariana contemplation, i know the recordings of the wicked songs we know she's sung sounded more pop-ish but there's a video of her about 14 years old singing the wizard and i, and she does sing it in a very broadway-esque way! it's insane how phenomenal her voice was at that age.

The ruby slippers are an intellectual property issue - they belong to MGM for the original film which. The original book which has gone far past its IP date had silver slippers so this is fair use and more book-accurate, but really it's because they can't use the ruby slippers.

I quickly found out straight after posting the video haha! Crazy how strict the copyright is over this but understandable as The Wizard of Oz remains such an iconic piece of cinema and the ruby slippers are now synonymous with Dorothy! Didn't know it was part of the original book either thank you for watching really appreciate it! 💚

I like that they’re making it two parts, the musical happens WAYYY too quickly pacing wise. Even relationships are rushed. Like when I tell you that I’m still trying to figure out when Elphie and Fierro bonded after that lion incident in that musical…I mean it. 😂 I want a real love triangle, want to see more of them learning magic, and more family dynamics being shown

Yes to be fair I'm really excited to see fiero be more fleshed out in general his character were always a little underdeveloped for me. Really excited to see what Jonathan Bailey does with it as well! Hopefully they use the extra screen time to add to the story rather than it feeling like it's dragging. Remains to be seen! I do love the director of this movie Jon M. Chu I think he is perfect for this as he always notice the little details that might take this movie from being good to great. Thanks for watching 💚

As someone who hasn't seen the wizard of oz or wicked, i am STOKED to see Part 1 now. I thought it was about rivalry, but friendship between two women with magical powers makes me so excited!! Cynthia and Ariana will bring this movie to another level and thank you for sharing your thoughts and making this movie more appealing
