Hey grace can we get a invincible watch along for the season finale amazon releases there shows a day early at 9pm so you can have a watch along Thursday at 10pm just asking I don’t know if your busy or not
A 58% drop is bad, but is it a saving grace that nobody cared to watch your show the year you posthumously snubbed Chadwick Boseman? 46:41 I really like this story!
According to these numbers, it appears that analysts are stating that Wonder Woman 1984 would need to gross over $500 million in order to make its money back. With a production budget of $200 million, this likely points to the film having a colossal marketing budget of over $300 million. This number is much higher than the typical marketing budget for a production, which often amounts to double the initial production budget of a film.
They shouldn’t have changed the award order. Best Picture ALWAYS goes last. They set people up to think some grand emotional moment was coming, and then it didn’t happen, and then Hopkins couldn’t be there, so it was double awkward.
Had they moved ALL FOUR acting categories to the end (in any order within thereof), the spectacle would not have been such a debacle - at least less of one 😑🤔~
Anthony Hopkins is Welsh (not English), and he has been living in Wales lately. It has different COVID rules from England, and London is a bit of a ways way from where he is.
But even though i hate those “oscar are too woke!” Dumbfucks, i think the Oscar was always about narrative overall, but that’s not a dig, most of the times they choose good narratives, this time i think giving the award to Boseman would be the better, and he did a phenomenal job.
@@trumplostlol5281 IDK I understand there have been narratives in the past that got people wins but just because it has happened before doesn't mean it should happen. I had no dog in this race, I didn't really care who won, but the Oscar should go to who was the Best Actor for that year, not for a narrative.
@Joey Agati it SHOULD be only about merit, it can’t though, you CAN’t mesure “acting “ by objective standards. Especially when you compare good actors with good actors . RizAhmed AND Boseman AND Hopkins are ALL good actors, who is the “best” and should win? There’s no clear answer. It’s not as simple as car race with a clear winner , the Academy eventually arbitrarily chooses someone. It would be a decent consistent choice to give the award to Boseman.
Saw all the Oscar nominees (it's a yearly tradition and made easier with streaming this year), Hopkins definitely deserved this. Boseman wouldn't be in contention (to win) if he were alive, tbh. If they want to honor him posthumously, let them do so in a couple of decades and NOT NEXT YEAR. Kind of cheapens the Lifetime Achievement award.
@@petropaoloaguilar6673 Anthony Hopkins had the best performance of the year across the board amongst all of the nominees. And I've seen everything that was nominated.
Sir Anthony Hopkins deserved Best Actor. Glad he won. Disgusting that the Academy was trying to force an elderly man to travel during a global pandemic.
@@guillermor.tinajero1338 They said he couldn't zoom call in like Hopkins offered or have Olivia Colman accept on his behalf. The only way for the at risk Hopkins to accept his award was to go to an Oscar Hub in Dublin, London, or LA. So that would force him to travel to accept it.
While I doubt it’s the reason they actually do it but I don’t have good enough vision for subtitles also doubt I’m the only one, so the English translation are the only way I can really understand what’s going on in non english speaking movies. I tried watching Parasite but had to keep pausing so my good eye could focus and read the subtitles and it took so long and just wasn’t an enjoyable experience so I didn’t finish it
Grace grace grace..... How can you go on a 10 minute rant about Boseman not winning then say you didn't see Ma Rainey???? You can't make any of your points without actually comparing the performances. How can you say all the performances were even when you didn't see Ma Rainey. Smhhhh.
so what's your point??? heath ledger should've been judged SOLEY on batman??? heath ledger won because we had suchhhhh a talented actor!!! chadwick boseman was the same!!! suchhhhhh a talented actor who took the world by storm. it was his turn!!!!! stfu joey
@@marcorea4171 Heath did win because he earned it and gave the best performance that year. It is sad that Chadwick died and he was a fine actor but he was no great.
Wait... you just spent FIFTEEN MINUTES saying how Chadwick Boseman deserved to win and then five minutes later you admit you didn't even see his performance! C'mon, Grace! It's fine if you think the Academy should have done something different, but at least SEE the movie before giving a 15 minute speech on it!
EXACTLY!!!!! I was shocked that she was talking about something she didn't even see! Like at least see his performance before you talk about it. That's why I don't think her argument is credible.
WHEN, did she everrr in the 15 minute speech that she five, did she ever say that he deserved the oscar based solely on the performance that he gave in that movie. 1. she discussed how when an actor has that big of an impact of movie goers and film, he deserves better. she discussed the fact that heath ledger won because of his great legacy, despite the academy being very against super hero movies at the time. 2, she discussed how unfair and horrible it was for the academy to make best actor the last category when it wasn't going to him. for decades the best picture has alwayssss been last. why change it now? it was very disrespectful on the side of the academy to make it last when it was going to the most basic, most expected, and least deserving actor out there, (doesn't even care about his awards) so before you come for grace talking about her making statements before watching a movie, think about what you're going to post, and then dont if it's ignorant like this one.
Let's be frank, we all now why is she saying that Boseman should have won. She does that all the time whenever she's critiquing... she's not credible, professional or impartial in her takes. She's too politically correct and woke.
I don’t understand how Grace can preach for Chadwick to win, then when it came to Viola she admitted she hadn’t even seen Ma Rainey. If I was in the academy I too would have voted for Hopkins, Ahmed or Yeun over Chadwick. Chadwicks legacy is bigger than any Oscar, he wouldn’t have been nominated for Ma Rainy had he not tragically passed away.
he definitely would’ve if you’ve seen the movie you’d realize that the performance he put was easily a front runner to all 3 of the other phenomenal performances. They didn’t nominate him just cuz he had passed his performance was moving.
The Oscar voters don't watch the movies either. Don't y'all know how the oscars and golden globes works? You have to deliver nice gifts to these old farts. If your agents don't do that you're fucked 🤷🏾♀️
What?! Grace just said she didn’t see *Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom* yet she also said everyone’s performance was equal so the Oscar should have gone to Boseman. That doesn’t make sense! Since Hopkins has won before and the really easy vote would be for Boseman, seems like the Academy actually did think Hopkins deserved it. 🤔 And Grace saying the Academy did the right thing by honoring Heath Ledger’s legacy with the posthumous Oscar to me severely diminishes his win! Ledger deserved it that year (full stop) and I’m not even a fan of superhero flicks. Black Panther is so high on Grace’s all-time favorite films list (#6 at one point) she can’t shake her bias in this case.
literally, this video is so dumb! she gets this gassed over how boseman was a "prince of cinema", but can't be bothered watching 1 film. ok then.. guess she was too busy reviewing some dumpster-fire melissa mcarthy movie/ LMAO.
I love Chadwick Boseman & he was great in Ma Rainey but Anthony Hopkins delivered one of the best performances I’ve ever seen. He earned that award. It still doesn’t take anything away from Boseman’s performance & legacy. Riz Ahmed was my number 2 pick and Boseman was my number 3.
The problem is when we compare two great actors, the difference between the “best performance” might be very subjective and insignificant. I think it would be more fair giving the award to Boseman.
@@trumplostlol5281 It’s not about fairness though, or even the “narrative” (as much as Grace keeps trying to push that argument). Hopkins gave the best performance of his career in The Father, and his win was every bit of deserving as anyone else’s.
I don't think the Academy gave Heath the award because of his legacy. That was simply the best, most iconic performance of that year. I don't think the same thing is true for Chadwick Boseman's performance.
I would say Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight gave a better performance than Boseman in Ma Rainey's. Also, the Dark Knight was a much bigger success that Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. So it's a bit of legacy and quality of performance for Ledger.
Exactly. People still compare heath to any other actor playing the joker. It's iconic. Tdk joker is still quoted. Nobody is going to remember Chadwick in May Rainey. And grace didn't even bother watching it so what does that tell you. Her argument is ridiculous especially bc she's not even reviewing his actual performance.
This woman dont even watch The Father or Ma Rainey's Black Bottom. She just want the Oscar for Boseman about the fanaticism. The Anthony performace was astonishing, superior. Thats why he won!!
I still can't forget that Grace said in her Oscar films review months ago that she was bored because nothing actually happened in the films Nomadland and Minari!!! They were both such touching films and with all their Oscar wins I think most people felt that these life stories were indeed very captivating and heartwarming!
I just think that Anthony Hopkins really deserved the win. He delivered the best performance and probably his best (I know i know) but I can’t help it, his performance really connected with me
So, you are telling me that you didn't watch Ma' Rainey's, the movie that got Chadwick so many awards, you didn't watch it, but still, yo are claiming that his performance was as good as Hopkins', does that even make sense? Now I get why you are so upset, you didn't even watch Boseman's movie, unbelievable
Politics aside, it is kind of odd that she didn't see the movie she was so upset he didn't win for. Both actors did a good job, and the Father was likely the last movie many people saw before voting. The studio out-campaigned Netflix with a fantastic performance. Boseman winning would have been fine. But Hopkins was really good too, and only one could win.
Anthony Hopkins completely deserved it. His performance is one of the best I've seen in a long time, maybe since Daniel Day-Lewis in There Will Be Blood. Staggeringly good. What happened with Chadwick Boseman was horrible, they really set him up to win, but he wasn't the best, sadly. I don't think Boseman would have won against Kaluuya, either.
I watched both performances and I liked Boseman better. I've been thinking about it and maybe it's because it surprised me to see he was so good (the only other performance of his I've watched is Black Panther which is just ok) while I've watched many of Anthony's performances so I wasn't surprised to see he was just fucking amazing
I do think Anthony was deserving of his win, as his performance demonstrated rarely achieved brilliance. It's not very often that I feel the greatest performances take home the award (or even get nominated), but in my opinion this is deserved win. I'm more upset at the wins Nomadland took home, and Frances winning again for that performance? bizarre..
I agree - his performance was one of the best of this century so far. If Hopkins wasn’t there, I’d have given it to Riz. Boseman was good and well worthy of a nomination, but he only eclipsed Riz because of his death. Hopkins was by far my favourite performance, and with the dementia storyline I imagine it’s something that many Oscar voters may have personal experience with.
Agreed, Look i love Chadwick his performance was excellent in Ma Rainey's but compare with other nominees, his performance was wayy below Riz and Hopkins. This is about the performance, Hopkins' performance crushed Chadwick's. He deserved to win without a doubt and he won fair and square. There was no snubbed at the Best Actor, Hopkins deserved it, his best performance since Silence Of The Lambs. So glad he won
Why don't you watch Ma Rainey and review it ? if you wanna honor Boseman then at least watch it. Its like 1hr 30 mins and worth watching for Viola too.
Grace did see the Father. She said she liked it and made her emotional. And reviewed it in her Oscar movie review package. So I’m not sure what or who you’re implying
@@adamsbriee6330 My bad, that comment was meant more as hyperbole, since most of the people making claims like Grace's have openly not even seen it. But as my reply and James' point out, she didn't even see the performance she's going so hard for, so she's in absolutely no position to make any of the statements she's making about how "appalling" the Academy's decision to actually reward the best performance is. RIP Chadwick though. A nomination and all the other awards he won along the way are nothing to sneeze at. He totally deserved a nomination, there's no denying that.
@@thefilmseeker i get that. But at the same time grace was campaigning for Chadwick to win for Da 5 Bloods, and I’ve seen both movies, I think he should’ve been nominated for that probably more than the Ma Rainey movie and definitely would’ve won for that. And so I understand graces frustration with him being nominated for Ma Rainey because I think he should’ve won for the right film, and that he wasn’t nominated for the right film.
I think it would be lovely if Chadwick had won but it's kinda weird from Grace to go after the Academy voters for not honouring him when she didn't even bother to check out his last performance (which is veeery easily available on Netflix for god's sake). Anyways... Anthony and Riz were personally my favourite performances and i'm very happy they received recognition.
The idea that an award should be given just because the actor died takes away from the actor's talent, and also takes away from what other nominees bring to the table. HONORING CB and dedicating the Oscar's to him or something is a good idea, but as for the award itself, it should always be the performance first, and the one deserving of it should be awarded. Saying "no, give it to CB because he died" is the equivalent of a participation trophy, and while I never met CB, I'd like to believe he'd want his work to speak for itself, and be viewed by itself.
I am vision impaired, i physically can not read subtitles quickly. Translated movies are the only way I can know what’s happening. They should absolutely use appropriate actors for the roles but watching films in languages I don’t understand can’t be my normal unless I pause every line and let my eye focus which I’ve tried but won’t do again it just got confusing
I also just don’t understand it. Another Round is such a Danish film about The Danish drinking culture! How do you make that in a country where you aren’t even allowed to drink before you’re 21??
Chadwick Boseman was barely in Da 5 Bloods and his performance in that movie wasn’t bad, but definitely didn’t merit an award. He wouldn’t have been able to compete with the other nominees at all. His performance in Ma Rainey was actually great tho. The quality of the two movies shouldn’t have such a bearing on how the individual performances are treated. I love your videos but I thought that was a weird take from you.
Anthony Hopkins is like 83 years old living in Wales. Let's give him a break. :D But it was really terrible how they trolled the audience for Chadwick and the "gift" was gross.

I do disagree with you on the AH / CB matter. I thought AH gave the performance of his professional life and he deserved it. CB was good but I dont think he needed to win just because he tragically died young. Doesn't matter that AH won an Oscar (all the way back in 1992). The whole thing seems like fake Twitter outrage.
@@ririschannelx why did u cut out the rest of the sentence? The original poster didn't say "he didn't need to win" he said "he didn't need to win JUST BECAUSE HE DIED YOUNG", meaning CBS death shouldn't be a factor in considering his talent. The guy was an incredible actor no doubt, but if we just start handing out awards because of what happens to an actor outside the film, then THAT takes away the aspect that talent is the most important thing in what makes an award worthy performer. I'm sure if CB was alive, he'd rather he won because his role earned, than he won it because honoring his death fit an agenda
@@ririschannelx no if YOU think he should've won, that's perfectly fine. Me personally, I also feel like he should've won because he was an amazing actor that I think never got his flowers until Black Panther, which wasn't even in his top 5 Performances imo. HOWEVER, I was stating that the idea he should've won because he DIED is the ridiculous. Grace herself was saying he should've been awarded as a way to honor his death, and that just takes away from it. Not to mention YOU misquoted the original poster in attempt to rebuttel his statement, even though what he said was a fact An actors work should be judged on its own merits, and if the Oscars had given him an award because he died, it would've shown a clear agenda (one that's very ingrained I'm Hollywood right now). But the opinion of the common person that he should've won because they felt his Performance was better is a perfectly fine take to have.
@@ririschannelx Oh please! I like CB but AH did a better job. Nothing about disrespecting CB. AH deserved to win - he was amazing and for those of us who have dealt with family members with dementia...well we can see the great job he did.
Also to those saying that Hopkins will give another great performance but Chadwick will not: Hopkins is 83 years old. He's prone to retire soon. We may also (hopefully not) never get an outstanding performance from him again either.
About Eternals' trailer - as great as it is to have an Oscar winning director to put in the centre of an advertising campaign, this is a Marvel movie and so the Oscar win wont really make a difference. It is the MCU. The popularity does not rely on whether or not the director has won an Oscar (most people dont even know who she is).
And you’re mad because of it? Chadwick lost, what is this salt everybody is trying to rub in our wounds that expected him to win. Fuck off, he lost, we move on
@@newt1110 yeah i like that oscars are democratic and don’t give the same actor that award all the time. Anthony and frances have won before and didn’t need another award because of that. Anthony definitely deserved the Oscar after Chadwick, and maybe would’ve won if Chadwick was still alive. But I think Chadwick Shouldve won and am most he lost not because he’s black, but because he died. He never will be nominated again. And maybe he would’ve won eventually. I feel Some are disrespecting Anthony Hopkins - it’s irrelevant if he appreciates the Oscars: he’s an 83 year old man that’s been playing the Hollywood game before you and possibly your audience demographics were born. As all 83 year old do: THEY DO WHAT THEY WANT. But if his performance was considered best then - the dye is cast. Chads legacy will endure. Some people don’t want to WIN out of sympathy . I rem when Meryl Streep and viola davis was up for the award and it was rumored Streep won because she was old and possibly her last chance. She’s Meryl Streep so the controversy was nil. There to much happening in the world for people to be exceedingly vexed over a legend winning over an icon. With that: I’m glad you were able to keep delivering content over this evening past year. I respect it was difficult for you all to maintain material when sooo much shut down. Thanks for the entertainment during this pandemic.
Only Daniel K, Nomadland & Chloe Zhao won every single major award in the major categories. Chadwick lost the BAFTA to Anthony, Frances won the BAFTA. Chad’s upset was hinted at, he didn’t successfully sweep pre oscars. There was *NO* true front runner for Best Actress, Andra won the GG, Carey won the CC, Viola won the SAG, & Frances won the Bafta. Also Frances was the only actress that won a major award nominated for everything. She would be the front runner if there was one.
I seriously believe your take on Best Actor in a Leading Role was completely off. So what if Hopkins had won an Oscar before? Had you even seen The Father? Some are calling it the best performance of the guy's career! The Academy should be in the business of awarding their Oscars to the BEST of the year instead of the "most deserving" or the sentimental favorite. I'm sorry the sentimental favorite didn't win and I'm sorry you feel that Chadwick Boseman's legacy can now never be cemented, but you shouldn't give someone an Oscar simply because they gave a good performance before they died. Heath Ledger's posthumous win was deserved not because he died but because he gave the best supporting performance of 2008. He would have won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor even if he had still been alive. I don't think we can say the same for Chadwick Boseman had he ended up winning it posthumously.
@@consciencecuisine *Ledger was indeed PHENOMENAL. But the Academy would NEVER give an award like that for an actor in a comic book movie if it wasn’t for the cultural significance in the moment, their hate towards comic book movies was even worse back im the day*
If Hopkins gave the best performance, he deserved the win. That's how an awards show is supposed to work. Period. It was nice for Chadwick to be posthumously nominated, but he doesn't need a little gold statue to further validate his existence. He was a good man by all accounts, he was a good actor whose performances speak for themselves, and his portrayal of T'Challa entertained and inspired more people around the world than any art-house character ever could.
The thing is there really isn’t a “best performance” when comparing two good actors, in the end Oscars are mostly about narrative, and for narrative purposes it would be cooler for Boseman to win, he did a great performance AND Hopkins already had an Oscar
@@TheCosmicFailure James Dean is the GOAT! I love James Dean... my point was the voters then didn't think he gave the best performance. They didn't vote on sympathy. That delegitimizes the award and its recipient.
The success of the Oscars is largely dependent on the success of the movies nominated. The Oscars need to adapt or they will become irrelevant. They need to become more appealing to audiences, right now the only people who truly care about the Oscars are those nominated. I hope they can change.
It doesn't need to adapt until the contract with Disney runs out in 2028. Then we will see if they care about the audience figures or if Disney run it at a loss for the good PR. If Disney doesn't want to give them enough $$$ for it then they might change.
Your overreaction over the "snub" of Boseman is ridiculous. The fact is Hopkins delivered the better performance, and he is the oldest Actor to win Best Actor. I think you are overhyping the hell out of Boseman, and it's not comparative to Heath Ledger, who gave the best performance of his career. All in all, I think we should just let him rest, his legacy shouldn't be determined by an awards show.
So truth. She on twitter liked this kind of tweets: "I dont care how good performance Anthony was, I want the Oscar for Boseman". Really disappointing.
And she tweeted that she was angry when Chadwick lost saying he was snubbed and saying he won every other Best Actor award this season (which is nonsense cuz Hopkins beat Chadwick at the BAFTA and Oscar while Riz Ahmed beat Chadwick at the Independent Spirit Awards) so basically Chadwick didn't win every other Best Actor this season. I don't understand her at all.....
It’s especially hilarious considering how much time she spends arguing that “there was no way you could argue Anthony gave a better performance than Chadwick, Riz or Stephen” without having even *seen* one of the films in question. Hysterical human being.
The fact that everyone is saying "They should've given the Oscar to Chadwick because of his legacy" and not "because of his performance" shows why he lost. With all respect, if he were still with us, Hopkins and Ahmed would've been the frontrunners all the way.
She just likes getting on her soapbox about diversity issues. Which is fine. But it's pretty hollow when she doesn't bother watching the actual performances which are kinda the point.
Hopkins won because he gave the best performance of the five nominees. He's in his 80s, has been acting for decades, and yet still turned out his career best performance and arguably one of the best lead actor performances of at least the past decade. I think what this shows is that voters just vote for who they think gave the best performance, regardless of other factors such as previous wins, as shown by the Frances McDormand win too.
I didn’t mind the long speeches by the winners - I felt that those were always deserved. They took out the clips and instead had the presenters ramble about the nominees, which I think took most of the run time.
I think Anthony Hopkins performance was the best in that category (I did like Riz Ahmed as well). Still, Chadwick not winning felt weird to me. The reason for that is the fact that they knew that people expected him to win. It's pretty obvious that they put the Best Actor category last to make sure that people watched until the end. There is no other reason why they would've changed it to last other than that. I saw it as their way of honouring him. I'm happy for Anthony... but I would never have sat through the entire thing if I thought someone else was gonna win.
I did think that it was funny that Regina King Acknowledged that people turn over when Hollywood starts to preach to them... before proceeding to preaching to the hand full of people who bothered to watch lol
Who has cable anymore?! If you don't subscribe to a live streamer you can't watch it live. Another of people myself included aren't doing that when you can just get the highlights elsewhere for free.
Grace I will say that when Don Cheadle was talking about the makeup and hairstyling category, and he said hair and outfit are very important for an actor, I immediately thought of how you’d tell us that all the time! LOL
You lost me when you started advocating for Chadwick Boseman over Anthony Hopkins as if he was entitled to it. Yes, Chadwick was great, especially in his last scene. But Anthony Hopkins' performance throughout The Father was just so convincing and heartbreaking.
Anthony Hopkins deserved the Oscar he did an amazing job in the father I don’t get why everyone decided that Chadwick boseman had to win the Oscar i get that he passed away and he was a great actor but I simply think that Hopkins did a better job
Changing the order of the final awards only works if you know FOR SURE, 100%, who is winning the final award. They didn't, and it blew up in their faces. This is the first year EVER that I didn't watch the Oscars, and now I'm glad I didn't.

How was it "Chadwick Boseman's turn" other than the fact that he died? He was never even nominated for one of the main awards before, and arguably hasn't even been making films for that long. Before he died the only film he was in that was hugely acclaimed was BP, a comic book film. Ma Rainey's wasn't even nominated for best picture. The nomination was only given because he died. Dying doesn't make you the best actor.
It probably says a lot about the Oscars that I'd rather watch Grace's breakdown than one second of the show itself. (Or it says a lot about me, or it says a lot about Grace's breakdowns. Unclear. lol)
No it says a lot about how media is consumed these days. The ratings for the Oscars will never go back up to its heights no matter who produces the show because media is consumed differently. For example the show You was in tv for weeks and no one cares about it or talked it and after Netflix brought it and put it on their service it blew up. Even though it was the same show with the same actors and with the same episodes. Literally nothing was different by the means to consume it
I just think there weren't any movies I was excited about. I think it says more about me as I tend to avoid artsy films. But I definitely will watch the Father with Antony Hopkins because of the Oscars
Even if you gave Chadwick Boseman the Oscar which I believe it's well-deserved just like Hopkins, that just makes you feel good, like see I did the right decision. Winning or not, Chadwick Boseman will never know. He is dead.
As harsh as that may sound to some, it's true. Anthony Hopkins was able to feel pride and gratitude upon receiving his reward, and Chadwick wouldn't have been. There's no reason to feel bad for Chadwick. Everyone who loved and respected him still loves and respects him as much as they ever did, and Anthony Hopkins is, by all accounts, a worthy winner. People like Grace wanted Chadwick to win for their own emotional gratification and for the Hollywood story, not necessarily because it was the right decision, and clearly not because it mattered to the man himself. People can desire all sorts of different outcomes when they view a situation through a personal or political lens. That's why, in my opinion, the Oscars should simply remain consistent and do what it's supposed to do -- reward the best performances of the year, as impartially as possible.
Obviously there are also people who thought Chadwick deserved the win based *purely* on his performance. Their opinion is entirely valid and their disappointment understandable.
@David Marshall it SHOULD be only about merit, it can’t though, you CAN’t mesure “acting “ by objective standards, that’s a very naive point.
My mom's side of the family has a history of Alzheimer's disease. Her grandfather, one of her uncles, one of her aunts... So, trust me when I say that Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of a father losing his memories and his grip on reality is absolute perfection. It felt real and I was so miserable thinking of how the people we love grow old and frail and at times there is nothing anyone can do for them. He deserved this win. My two cents.
@@kamuilasia5813 I don't know if that's how such things should work. Merit and not emotions should decide who gets awards. But everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
1. Hopkins 2. Ahmed 3. Boseman 4. Oldman 5. Yeun ... is how I would rank them. But I would rather have Lindo and Mikkelsen at 4 and 5. Boseman had a great performance but it wasn't the best of the year. Boseman was just stuck in 1 gear for the entirety of MRBB. Hopkins was essentially shifting gears with each room change. There are actors incapable of face acting and then there's Riz Ahmed's and his blank stare of devastation. He doesn't do much with his face but by gosh he just emanates how his world is just crumbling around him. Hopkins and Ahmed's characters can take you on a compelling emotional journey. The only journey Levee Green took me was looking forward to his comeuppance.
This might sound crazy, but I think the Academy should have just doubled down on their snobbery instead of trying to pander to all these groups. It just comes off to me as phony and insincere. I heard an old saying, "It's better to be hated for who you are, than loved for who you are not." Just a bunch of fake people, ready to pat themselves on the back for a good job IMO.
I agree with The Unusual Suspect on this one. Award shows really do not matter. Only the films backed by producers with deep pockets and a willingness to get out on the street and peddle their wares stand any real chance at winning. Not that good films don’t get nominated, but again they are usually backed by a lot of money which is how they get there. Hell, Suspect even told how the Oscars were formed to begin with by Louis B. Mayer creating the whole thing as a way to stave off unions and coddle his actors and directors et al into doing what he wanted. Yeah, they have become an all out joke at this point. I still have fun looking at the winners and hearing all the outrage over who won or lost. It would help immensely if they would stop with the political grandstanding and just get to the business at hand, but this is Hollywood of the current era. It ain’t gonna happen. P.S. TLDR; My gauge for any film’s worth is deeply personal to me. I don’t need industry insiders and actors pretending to be politicians telling me what the best films are.
I think best picture category was for Nomadland. It's the best one that got released last year, there's no denying in that. Who cares whether you liked it or not😂
When they came out with the trivia segment it felt like behind the scenes they were like quick we need something to make this better, and they did the first idea they came up with which turned out great but it was too late to save the show.
@@ikexbankai Thats not "the people" tho. The people, aka the audience, who funds Hollywood and keeps it alive. Thats like saying NBA players care about the NBA
You can't go back to the heights the Oscar ceremonies once had because the movies themselves just aren't there. Watch the trailers of the winners from the 1990's, and then watch this years. The raw material just isn't there. The industry has completely changed. This years crop, good movies all, are things that would have done well at Toronto or Sundance back then. We just don't have the films and culture anymore.
Thomas Vinterberg's Another Round is absoluetly incredible! I envy you for having not yet watched it. I would love for you to do a review of it, because it needs to be promoted on channels such as yours.
Nominations wasn't intresting because huge fan actors didn't get nominated?!! Seriously 😂. It's not people's choice awards, it's about finding the best of the best.
I know people at home don't want to hear any political comments at the Oscar, but I was a bit disappointed that the two major Asian winners did not say anything during their speeches about the current violence against Asian Americans.
@@trumplostlol5281 Dude do you hear yourself? He's right. Politics and social issues don't have to be everywhere. If a person wants to post on Twitter about something, cool. If they wanna go on TH-cam about it, cool. But sometimes people want to escape. People watch the Oscars for Film/TV related things. If I wanted to hear about the problems of the world, I'd watch the news. Not everything has to be about politics. And Insulting people just because you don't agree with that just shows your immaturity
I dont get this talk at all,, you just vote for the person you think did the best job, that is your job in the academy, you not suppose to think about something else outside of that.
I don’t think Price Waterhouse or whatever has no responsibility for what the Oscars did to themselves. Who knew the academy was going to change the line up? They’ve always ended with Best Picture. That’s not Price Waterhouse’s fault. If the Academy wasn’t trying so hard to make themselves look good, pat themselves on the back while boost ratings etc, they wouldn’t have been in this mess.
If Anthony Hopkins was an actor of color and the late Chadwick Boseman was not, Grace would have never spent 15 minutes pathetically arguing that Boseman should have won. she would instead spend 30 minutes explaining why Hopkins winning is absolutely earned and how no one else was even close. In fact she might even call it the most well deserved Oscar since Forest Whitaker's.
PWC couldn’t care less about how the Oscars want to produce their show. The producers were completely at fault here for making the assumption on who won. McDormand would have spoiled Nomadland’s win so I understand why they want to announce Best Picture first (Nomadland had only won Director at this point and had lost Screenplay and Cinematography). But, they should have ended in Best Actress, whose nominees are all there to accept. What a mess
I’m curious if they will release like a first look or trailer really soon since Chloe Zhao has so much hype rn. Last year marvel released another black widow trailer right after ScarJo & Florence Pugh received so much Oscar buzz for their Noms.
I read that the Academy wouldn’t let Anthony Hopkins accept his award via Zoom, since he’s 83 and didn’t feel safe traveling due to COVID. Plus, the UK still has different rules regarding the travel in and out from Wales. Curious since in the video you said you didn’t understand why he wouldn’t accept via Zoom. Do you believe that happened? Or just an excuse made afterwards?
I think award shows time is ending. No one cares anymore but the industry. I tried to watch online but could not. ABC was streaming live but it was just on a repeat of the nominations no host. At that point, I realized I didn't care.

A 58% drop is bad, but is it a saving grace that nobody cared to watch your show the year you posthumously snubbed Chadwick Boseman?
46:41 I really like this story!
why didn't wonder woman 1984 win the oscar? for best picture
why didn't gal gadot win best actress?
According to these numbers, it appears that analysts are stating that Wonder Woman 1984 would need to gross over $500 million in order to make its money back. With a production budget of $200 million, this likely points to the film having a colossal marketing budget of over $300 million. This number is much higher than the typical marketing budget for a production, which often amounts to double the initial production budget of a film.
They shouldn’t have changed the award order. Best Picture ALWAYS goes last. They set people up to think some grand emotional moment was coming, and then it didn’t happen, and then Hopkins couldn’t be there, so it was double awkward.
That wasn't very nice.
Yep. Exactly. That was the mistake. Best Picture should have gone last as usual, and no assumptions about winners should have been made.
It’s just greed in plain sight

Award shows a lot of the time are just narratives and politics
@Joey Agati it SHOULD be only about merit, it can’t though, you CAN’t mesure “acting “ by objective standards. Especially when you compare good actors with good actors . RizAhmed AND Boseman AND Hopkins are ALL good actors, who is the “best” and should win? There’s no clear answer. It’s not as simple as car race with a clear winner , the Academy eventually arbitrarily chooses someone. It would be a decent consistent choice to give the award to Boseman.
That's literally what the Oscars are???!!

Saw all the Oscar nominees (it's a yearly tradition and made easier with streaming this year), Hopkins definitely deserved this. Boseman wouldn't be in contention (to win) if he were alive, tbh. @@AaronSmith-vl1tw IKR! LOL!
And Grace saying the Academy did the right thing by honoring Heath Ledger’s legacy with the posthumous Oscar to me severely diminishes his win! Ledger deserved it that year (full stop) and I’m not even a fan of superhero flicks.
Black Panther is so high on Grace’s all-time favorite films list (#6 at one point) she can’t shake her bias in this case.

That was my order too, Hopkins was stellar.
@Progress
But what if Hopkins just gave the best performance of the two?
When people were arguing about this, I felt so out of the loop. I thought it was between Riz Ahmed and Steve Yeun lol.
I don't think the Academy gave Heath the award because of his legacy. That was simply the best, most iconic performance of that year. I don't think the same thing is true for Chadwick Boseman's performance.
It was both. His death, legacy also coincidentally came packaged with an absolutely iconic, hugely popular performance.

Heath Ledger's posthumous win was deserved not because he died but because he gave the best supporting performance of 2008. He would have won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor even if he had still been alive. I don't think we can say the same for Chadwick Boseman had he ended up winning it posthumously.
Heath Ledger would have won no matter what category or what year.
I really don’t think so
@@adamsbriee6330 Definitely. That performance was one of the most revolutionary in the history of cinema.
@@consciencecuisine *Ledger was indeed PHENOMENAL. But the Academy would NEVER give an award like that for an actor in a comic book movie if it wasn’t for the cultural significance in the moment, their hate towards comic book movies was even worse back im the day*
You didn't even watch his performance (Bosman) and he deserves the oscar??? Do you understand why people don't care anymore??
Maybe they voted for Anthony Hopkins because in their opinion he gave the best performance and that is what the award is for.
The oscars didn't give a posthumous award to James Dean TWICE! They weren't discriminating against Chad... he wasn't the best. Heath was. Anthony was.
Yeah. Cause James Dean wasn't a great actor.
@@TheCosmicFailure James Dean is the GOAT! I love James Dean... my point was the voters then didn't think he gave the best performance. They didn't vote on sympathy. That delegitimizes the award and its recipient.
I didn’t watch the oscars last night. I just kept looking at the update on Apple News.
You didn't watch the Oscars. Nobody told you that it was on. That is how bad it was!
She hasn't even seen Boseman's movie.
@@neutralman9124 but she does agree that Chadwick Should’ve won or been nominated for Da 5 Bloods which i agree with more.
@@RodrigoPerez-hn4dd Dude chill with the spamming of that comment
I can’t believe that you haven’t seen Ma Rainey‘s Black Bottom... come on
Its hard to take her campaigning seriously. She is just thinking about Black Panther here.
I really loved "Get on Up" with Chadwick Boseman, way more than i liked Black Panther.
I doubt Chadwick Boseman really wanted a pity award. Hopkins earned it imo.
it wasn't pitty? Chadwicks performance was excellent and deserving of a win.
omg sharon the translator is an awards favorite queen! it was a little callback joke to last award season, people love her.
Yess!!! Love her as well.
That is ridiculous!!! Heath Ledger gave a top 10 all time performance.
You could tell Joaquin didn’t want to be there lol. But I love him so much
The fact that everyone is saying "They should've given the Oscar to Chadwick because of his legacy" and not "because of his performance" shows why he lost. With all respect, if he were still with us, Hopkins and Ahmed would've been the frontrunners all the way.
Why should Chadwick win? Because he died? Is that your whole reason? Heath ledger legit won and not because he died.
The Boys are shooting now in Toronto
Umbrella Academy is also shooting in Toronto
Jupiter Legacy shot in Toronto too
I think Anthony Hopkins performance was the best in that category (I did like Riz Ahmed as well).
I did expect less viewers, but man were the ratings terrible. 50% drop from last year to just 10M. Seems people are moving elsewhere.
Yes. Don't you just love to see the Oscars get kicked in the balls! HaHaHa!!!
They should make it easier to stream. Put it on TH-cam or ABC app FOR FREE. I'm not subscribing to watch an award show. I don't get ABC over the air.

Grace I will say that when Don Cheadle was talking about the makeup and hairstyling category, and he said hair and outfit are very important for an actor, I immediately thought of how you’d tell us that all the time! LOL
hehe :) it's TRUE!
You lost me when you started advocating for Chadwick Boseman over Anthony Hopkins as if he was entitled to it. Yes, Chadwick was great, especially in his last scene. But Anthony Hopkins' performance throughout The Father was just so convincing and heartbreaking.
Wow, that death mask thing just makes the whole thing worse.
Grace, Frances McDormand's houl was for the Nomadland sound mixer that took his life.
The Game Awards had 83 million viewers in December 😁

Grace, you snapped. Living for this read of the Academy.
Frances McDormand in 3 billboards is not the same character as nomadland at all
I think she mean it’s the same type of character
Unclear. lol)
Lol that's actually what I was waiting for, her breakdown.
Literally nothing was different by the means to consume it
It says a lot about Grace's breakdown since you choice to wait for her breakdown.
He already had so many Oscars and Boseman will never have another chance
@@kamuilasia5813 I don't know if that's how such things should work. Merit and not emotions should decide who gets awards. But everyone's entitled to their own opinions.
1. Hopkins
2. Ahmed
3. Boseman
4. Oldman
5. Yeun
... is how I would rank them.
💯
Who cares whether you liked it or not😂
What? You have to like a movie to think it was the best. Some people did and thus it won and some didn’t
Frances winning really pissed me off. what a lame choice especially when the role was so similar to her last oscar win
When they came out with the trivia segment it felt like behind the scenes they were like quick we need something to make this better, and they did the first idea they came up with which turned out great but it was too late to save the show.
Honestly most people dont even care about the oscars
The people in the industry does care. And they matter for paychecks and work
@@ikexbankai Thats not "the people" tho.

In fact she might even call it the most well deserved Oscar since Forest Whitaker's.
the british presentation of it was far better because we had the hosts giving out their opinions and stats non stop
Chadwick should've gotten an honorary award at least
Hopkins DESERVED to win.
