Happiness can be found anywhere. You just have to look hard enough and be content with what you have! 😇

My daughter, who is finally home, was in Finland for many, many months. She said it is her favourite country (apart from good old Australia) and if she had all of us there with her she would be very happy to live in Finland. Even though she was so happy to come back to us she said she will always have very happy memories of Finland. She said the same things you said Tuula.

I'm happy your daughter enjoyed Finland! But I'm sure you are glad she's back 🙂 Family is so important, there are many places in the world that I would love to live in but I won't do that permanently because I would miss my family in Finland too much. I lived abroad for many years and while I loved it, it was hard being apart from family members, even after I had my own family there with me! -TK

I am happy when I am with my family. This year it has been hard with the virus, so I use Zoom and FaceTime to see my son’s family in another state in the U.S. I love walking outside and reading, cooking, quilting, and crocheting. I am sad for the hardships many people are facing this year, but I am optimistic about the future. Having hope makes me happy. Thank you for this video discussion.

Fortunately in Finland you are free to make choices. You don't need to get married and not to have kids, if you do not like it and you are still accepted. I am very happy living in Finland.

What a great initiative... Great lessons taught regarding happiness. In my opinion happiness is simply a state of mind... Best way of finding happiness is enjoying small things to the greatest extent....we should never wait for big things to happen in life....yes is it is completly right that life is all about learning and growing....but this process of learning and growing should be enjoyed.
Best of way achieving happiness is always having positive vibes for everyone....

It's amazing how this word "happy" has distorted this whole index, what it is and how it is formed.
It is a measurement of the quality of the society, the country, it's about education, healthcare, stability and decency.
So yes I am happy I have and my three children have been able to get a decent education without any debts.
I am happy my kids have been able safely to go alone to kindergarten and school since they were five years old walking or biking or by public transport.
I am happy I have never been mugged or robbed on the street.
I am happy I will always be able to go to a hospital, a doctor without any fear of going bust.
And I am happy we have coalition governments and don't have to suffer from a two party system like the British and the Americans. I am happy we elect our president directly where the winner is the one who got the popular vote without any silliness.
It would make me happy if this index was called for what it is, a standard of society index or a quality of living index.
Now we have people looking at us expecting us dancing and singing in the street babbling and laughing as mad as the most happy people in the world.
And it would make me happy if people who make these vids would actually explain how and on what this index is made right at the start.
There is an old saying in Finnish - ", se onnen kätkeköön".
Google translate proves translating is difficult, but you might get it.
"Whose luck is, let it hide happiness."
The thing is the more to the north people live (any country) the more reserved and less babbling they become.
There is also an other thing worth understanding regarding countries in the north, like the Nordic countries.
"Poverty is easier to accept and neglect in a warm country than in freezing cold ones, even in rich countries".
Happy Christmas with as much laughter as you are happy with.

thanks for your insightful comment Hurri! you have summed up things very well and you're right, this index measures standard or quality of living not just happiness. I guess calling it "happiness index" is good for the media coverage so people overuse it. There is a lot to love about Finland and I hope developing countries like India can learn from the Finns and make their countries better. Merry Christmas to you and your family! -SP

I really like the education system in Finland. It is something to be followed by every single country. So that everyone gets equal opportunities in their future. In my opinion, enjoying little things in life is happiness:)

Happiness is a great topic to choose. Here is a quote from the 16th President of the United States:“Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.” - Abraham Lincoln

Equitable Distribution of Resources is the deciding factor for the Satisfaction Levels that could be seen in Finland.
The Population Explosion in India has resulted in the decline of Standard of Living as Well as Happiness Quotient.

My happyness has been lost when I joined CA course , I was thinking of committing sucide becouse of work pressure that they had given me. When I come out of clutch I realise I have lost lot of time and now I have less time to mould my life.

I don't know why God made this universe....Are we here for only physical activity ie. Born, Educate, job, marriage , children, false praise of people ....I think god didn't send us for that.....I often get depressed for 2-3 days when this question comes to my mind....really it hurts me ....why god give me life....and I unable to find its ans. So supriyo bro would u explain ??
