You should build a little spring rater I use to work on a race car and trust me springs can look exactly the same and still have different rates. I might try to make one I’ll send you a picture it I do
Just an observation...It appears to me that the spring in #4 has tighter coils and looks like it may even be made out of thicker wire, which most likely results in a stronger spring (more spring pressure).

Invariable while removing one, it will spring out of grasp and fly off into the distance near light speed, leaving the technician to proclaim, "Jesus Christ, where'd that go??"

I don't know how much can be done with springs of that particular size but I wouldn't bet ANY money on #2 being the only difference.
No bypass wafer necessary with a PACLOCK... the design is different than American's so it is absolutely impossible to bypass a PACLOCK even without the silly wafer!
It never seems to make too much difference to the time it takes an experienced lockpicker whether or not there are actually spools and cerrated pins in the lock or not..

I have a question about the "horizontal actuator" that can't be bypassed. I don't spot the visual difference on the core from ones that can be bypassed if they don't have anti-bypass wafers in place. Do you have a video on this or can sum up the difference quickly? Thanks for the videos!
I "see" it now by envisioning the unlocker, which rests in the slot in the top of the core and can't turn independently from the core, therefore bypass isn't possible.

I'm a beginner with a good vise and good sparrows picks, even made a few new picks and wrenches from SS wiper inserts with a Dremel. After I learned all the locks I have a 6 pin training schlage lock that I put a few spools in that I've just recently started to teach myself to pick blind folded so I could pick in low light conditions.

You can make or buy a special key called a bump key. It "jumps" all the driver pins above the shear line causing the lock to open. BosnianBill has some videos on the subject. By using different springs and/or different weight driver pins you can make the lock bump resistant.

Mad Bob has nice sets as well as individual picks. Out of the three vendors I've tried so far, they are hands-down my favorite, and also extremely reasonable.
Mad Bob makes exquisite picks for sure. No after finishing effort needed at all. However, they are a little expensive. If you are looking for a good beginner kit, and don't mind having to clean them up with some 600 grit sand paper, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Praxis kit, because it gives you all the picks in both .023" and .015" which is a real life saver when you run into stuff like Schlage and other paricentric keyways. Too all readers n lock sport people, best lock to secure my kids mountain bikes until i build a shed thanks. Some say folding lock but why? Bluetooth with thick chain? What say u?
U-Lock and thick _hardened_ chain combo. U-Lock through the back wheel and around the seat tube. Chain through the front wheel and around the down tube. It won't be absolutely theft proof but the key is to just make it easier to steal someone else's bike than steal yours. You don't want an excessively oversized U-Lock else it can be twisted open or have a jack wedged in to pry it open. Keep in mind bike thieves usually go brute force over skill.
In your own yard you can propably build some little protectice structure/anchoring point. A steel pipe filled with quickrete requires some time for a thief to cut through, it won't be the weakest part. Drill holes for locking elements to the pipe before pouring the quickrete, and put a wooden peg through the holes. So you can drill that hole open easily after concrete is hard. You can put some angle irons to protect the lock you've chosen. This can limit the thief's workspace and make bolt cutters useless. Grinder will defeat them, but anything that takes more time is a plus. A good design is essential, so that additional elements are easy to use. These iron's are meant to stay at your yard, they can be heavy.
A u lock can be jacked and or picked an american 1300 can also be picked. The anchor in the yard I'd thought about first but it's the actual lock n chain i need to know about and some thoughts on Bluetooth lock thanks for all replies n merry Christmas😎
If you don't mind, that you have to use long keys, you can put long steel pipe over U-lock body. Drill holes for the shackle. If the key hole is 6 inches deep inside a pipe, it's more difficult to tension and pick the lock. Your key will reach the lock easily, when you have installed a long shaft to the key. F.ex a split metal pipe or plastic rod could work. You can "fill" the shackle of a lock with some relatively weak material, to prevent someone from using a jack. This may be impossible sometimes, depending on what you lock together. You wrote you don't want U-lock, ok, but whatever lock you choose, you can and should shield it, to limit a thief's workspace and cause more work for grinder.
I've only managed to pick mine 3 times after modifying it with radical sawtooth bitting and putting all key pins and drivers on steroids (serrated and spooled): th-cam.com/video/iEtD-Kbhj_w/w-d-xo.html It's on my work desk right in front of me and it's mocking me.

The springs also have different numbers of turns. No4 looks like it would deliver a different pressure from No5.

6:24 - Probably the angle, but it looks likes spring two is the longest; spring 1 was a little smaller, and 3-6 all smaller but the same length each.

Wow....I still have nightmares about paclock.... Bill went 2 or 3 picks trying to get his open.
They are tricky, but not that bad if you can tell when a pin is set. It’s a basic skill, but one that many pickers have yet to develop.
It seemed to hold you out longer than an American. Having a 6th pin in there helps I'm sure. 😉
