      I've been driving a 2016 S5 for over 6 years and have never had to pay for anything other than oil changes and a brake job. Not sure about the 4.2 liter B8's reliability but the B8.5 and its supercharged V6 has been practically bulletproof for almost 80k miles.

      @@mikeabel7577 apparently the V8 is pretty reliable too. It was the last iteration of that engine and folks say they had fixed the issues the early engines had by the S5 introduction.

    Both sounds great! I am kind of surprised as I think it must be down to aftermarket parts on each as S5 SHOULD be nowhere near the ISF as it was a 335 competitor back in the day and the RS4 with 414 hp was more of an ISF competitor back in 2008. I remember the ISF did handle better than the B7 RS4 as it was more modern and had a better balance so the S5 should not be of no match technically, but then again, they both seem to be on aftermarket suspension and that changes things significantly so it depends a lot on the mods done to each car. At any rate, enjoy your ISF. That is a thing of beautiful and a classic. 8 cylinders for life. Cheers!

    • @gavinr9107
      @gavinr9107 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      The ISF is superior to the S5 in all aspects. The ISF was created as a competitor to the RS4/C63/M3 to begin with.

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Frankly both are great options. Agree the S4 was more of a 335i competitor, but the V8 is not far off the power of the ISF and has similar character. RS4 is also much more expensive than ISF now too

    • @bogdanbosiokovic8858

      yup and then there is RS5 with 444hp but sadly no manual but a 7 Speed S-Tronic DCT transmission which is still a pretty decently fast car but i think i would still go for RS4 B7.

      To be honest, audi s5 feels much much better in the interior. Im driving the audi s5 2013 ( my friend car) and it is a 3.0 not a 4.2 but interior is mostly the same. This is the best interior that i have been. Even the BMW M2 2016 wasnt that good. Ofc the lexus might be quicker but you really use your power realyl often if you daily it. And that why s5 is a winner in my opinion. 335i in the other hand is a much better driver car than both i quess but 335i comes with stragith six so we cant compare it to the v8. But i heard from people owing it, that they love it how it handles and how the engine delivers.. Stil lexus is quite for older guys haha i have never seen young guy in lexus ( besides thoose who buy old is and build for the drift cars)

    I've actually owned both of these cars and I think you're wrong.
    The S5 was an awesome car, especially in the snow, but the ISF is even better. The chassis feels more balanced on the ISF, the steering is better, and the power is a lot better. The transmission on the ISF is really good once you learn how to use it properly in manual mode and then you don't even think about it. The transmission in the S5 is more user friendly tho but not such a huge difference that it would deter me from getting the ISF.
    Also don't even get me started on reliability and maintenance. The ISF is super reliable and easy to work on.
    However, the RS5 is better than the ISF I will admit. I love the RS5, and that's the ISFs competitor. I'd say on the road they're both equally fast and the handling is about equal but the engine in the RS5 is one of the best sounding engines ever made.

    • @KiwiCarLife

    The poor design coupled with the reliability issues with the Audi means that keeping it on the road is a very expensive exercise. For example the timing chains do not last the life of the engine and failures are relatively common at around the 100k mark. The timing chains are at the rear of the engine so the engine has to be removed in order to replace them. A very bad design. As the miles on the car go up, the Lexus will run rings around the Audi in terms of reliability and will keep running long after the Audi has died.

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I mean for sure... but if people like the way the audi drives, they'll buy one knowing they'll probably have to spend money on it. I mean McLaren's aren't that reliable last I heard, but people still love them

    • @TheAllEngineering
      @TheAllEngineering ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@KiwiCarLife The McLaren is a highly stressed performance car and as such a higher level of maintenance is required to keep them om the road. With the Audi you get the high maintenance costs and reliability issues without the performance of the McLaren.

      There's absolutely no reason why it can't. The Audi handles very well. ISF is a big family sedan, great car, but it's by no means a benchmark for all other cars to look up to handling wise. The E90 M3 is a step up for sure, just not as reliable hence why I went the lexus

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I drove both cars, and the Audi's transmission was smoother. I've driven multiple ISF's now and they are far from the most refined transmissions out there. Sure they shift fast at full chat but in the middle RPM they're very lurchy and the rev-match downshifts can be a bit average at times

    • @kevinstephenson9887
      @kevinstephenson9887 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes but those VAG transmission are known to be unreliable when the car gets older, plus the cars are set up totally different the Audi has four wheel drive and as you know the Lexus is rear wheel drive, and although you think the Audi interior looks better Mechanically the Lexus is more reliable built better and probably less expensive to run annually.

    There's something that puts me off of the Lexus styling, guess those headlights and the front bumper make me think of a squirrel with a mouth full of food. :D Lexus is easily the more reliable one out of these two. Design-wise (exterior, interior) Audi looks WAY nicer, not even a competition in my opinion. Also in stock form, without those mods, that body is just gorgeus. Oh, and shame that the ISF isn't AWD like the S5.
