  • Selinunte is an ancient city overlooking the ocean in Sicily, Italy. It was founded in 650 B.C. by the colonists Megara Hyblea, who turned it into a rich emporium. From 620-450 B.C, it established itself as a powerful commercial and political area and became one of the most successful Greek settlements in the world. In 409 B.C, the Carthaginian leader, Hannibal, conquered the city and ended the Greek era. In the Punic Age, the Carthaginians rebuilt Selinunte only in the Acropolis area. During the Punic War, the people of Selinunte tried to break free of the Carthaginians and seek help from the Romans. The Romans, instead, destroyed Selinunte and the city was never rebuilt.
This 4k walk takes you to each of the temples, the museum where many of the relics of the city are on display, and the Acropolis. We sincerely hope you enjoy!
