      @@BACKWOODSVET I'm around 30-31. I'm looking into a 70 inch hill style long bow in a couple months. I've always had an issue with bows stacking on me and I think the 70 inch would solve that. @robcarr8505 yeah that is a long draw. Almost unheard of in the trad world. Your a gorilla. Lol. But yeah that 70" longbow sounds like it'll be good for for you but you never know. Thank you and I appreciate that. If this is going to be your first traditional bow then I'd honestly go with the longer Mesa longbow. It will be more forgiving and easier to shoot and just as fast. Welcome to traditional archery. If you ever have any questions just ask. Most important thing is to have fun and know it's a journey and everyone is different.

    • @BACKWOODSVET
      @BACKWOODSVET  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As far as my set up is, it's not bad. I've had some longbows that are bad. I'm shooting a pretty heavy arrow and have a good string and silencers. So that does help. I've also added a second pair of silencers since this video so 4 in total and it is amazing.

    I watched a year ago and waited 1 year for you to get comments. No comments on your snap shooting ( which is fine and must be intentional) You must be huge if your draw is 27 in the video because it looks like your short drawing. Im big but haveT-rex arms and draw 26" back to my jaw bone where I expand 1/2 inch to get the most I can. My intent is not to be critical just these things jumped out at me. That honestly absolutely has to be the best buy out there. Looks just like my Striker Classic but half the money.

    • @BACKWOODSVET
      @BACKWOODSVET  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah if I do a full draw to the corner of my mouth and fully extend I'm almost 28.5 29". I do short draw alot and prolly don't even get the full 27" most times. I don't care though honestly. Yeah I've been a snap shooter most my life. I've tried to slow it down but just doesn't work as well for me. I also have never had a coach so I'm sure that would help too. I just have fun. Yeah the bow is a sweet shooter but I wouldn't even try it if you have a Stryker. I'm sure that's nicer.

    • @frankiebob7345
      @frankiebob7345 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Jeff Kavanagh was a proponent of snap shooting. I loved Jeff's video's. It's required for foul hunting. OMM is cut 1/16 before center Stryker are cut center. Helps a lot with wider range of arrow tuning. I changed from glove split to Tab 3 under after 50 years. Took me 6 months of regression but was worth the effort. Change is very hard.@@BACKWOODSVET

These are the 4 main reasons in order most consider important. I prefer a lighter arrow and manage those issues other ways.

    • @frankiebob7345

      Slick Sticks has a small grip. My hands are not near as large as BV bearpaws are, and my Slick Stick crowds my grip. Slick Stick rattles like nunchucks with a light arrow ( under 425 gn). The newer models are a lot more stable with the action wood riser than the solid walnut but are not as light. Its a fast, very attractive great bow but my favoriate bow is closer to the Messa than the SS. My SS is also a 58" which I think they stopped making.

    How does it and the bear super mag match up

    • @BACKWOODSVET
      @BACKWOODSVET  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I have this bow at #55 but it doesn't stack at all like the super mag and this bow is very fast. If you watch the video by 3 rivers they give you a speed test with different arrow weights. I doubt the bear supermag comes anywhere close to that. But all that being said the supermag is not a bad bow at all. Just me personally I like this bow way more.

    • @BACKWOODSVET
      @BACKWOODSVET  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @donwaldroopoutdoors3665 I would try to find one to shoot before you buy it honestly. Some people love them and some people hate them. If your a taller guy or a longer draw you may not like it from what I hear. I don't seem to mind them too much but I don't have a real long draw. But if I had more than one bow to choose it would be last on my list unless I was in a climber or a ground blind. So it has its uses, but it's not my favorite.

      60” 50lbs and I’m drawing same as you 27.5-28
      Do I wanna use 500 shafts with 200-225 up front or go a little heavier 400 spine with 250-300 grain up front? I know you have probably played with all these combos lol and it’s an expensive game to be guessing;)

      @@nickbaker9455 I shot gold tips 500 outta mine with 200 grains total up front in my final setup for that bow. It shot very fast and was still around 500 grains. I would just decide for you how much weight you wanna shoot. You sound like your on the right track. Shoot what you want up front too not because somebody said so on Instagram or TH-cam. Shoot what flies best for you. Remember we all used to kill deer with an aluminum arrow and a 125 grain screw on Magnus and nobody knew what F.O.C was.

    • @BACKWOODSVET
      @BACKWOODSVET  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      What seems to be going wrong? Maybe I can help just give me a little more info. I will say that for 60lbs that's a pretty light arrow. At the very low end it should be 8grains per pound of draw and that's about where your at. Also depending on the stiffness of your arrow (the number on the side of your arrow) you may need to play with your point weight. I usually have 200+ on the front. And I know with this longbow you may need more because the shelf is not cut to center. The arrow ( archers paradox) needs to bend back around the shelf to straighten out. Also another guy way better than me is instinctive addictions. He's answered questions of mine too.

    • @jarred9561
      @jarred9561 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you! I am a 27-28 inch draw. I asked that guy as well he told me to get a 100 grain insert and use the 125g tip and I should be able to shoot a lot better than I was.
