  • Join us today outside AND inside in the Mitchell Courthouse. We’ll learn about the history of the building, named after Civil Rights activist, Clarence M. Mitchell. Then with the help of our special guest, Derek Van De Walle, we get to go inside one of the building’s most special rooms, the Museum of Baltimore Legal History. This hidden gem displays fascinating artifacts in a beautifully-preserved historic courtroom. Thanks for watching and see you next week with another video!
This is our series called "Five Minute Histories." Every week, we’ll record a short video about a different historic place in Baltimore and post it on our Facebook page and TH-cam channel.

I've been in that courthouse many times. Never knew they had a museum.

Literally located within 20 feet of the main jury room on the second floor across from room 242 in 243. You probably wouldn’t know because the doors remain locked until lunchtime.

It's a beautiful museum and that courthouse itself is gorgeous inside. The ornate Marble and Wood make it really stunning.I often wonder if others see that beauty beyond its function. I surely do.

Can someone put me in touch with Mr. Van de Walle? We might have Belgian ancestors in common!
