Thank you for the video. I have been trying to find for weeks how to add a removable cat door in my sliding door. Like you, the depth of the parts up and down are quite high and it is not possible to make something that would work if fully into that space. The solution is now obvious, just make something that will be just resting on one side and embedded in the other sides.
I think, on a budget , this is an awesome idea. I have BIG dogs and the cheapest doggy door i was able to find for them was 700 bucks. sorry thats NOT in my budget right now.
Every door will be different measurements, but you just want the strips to hold the door side (so half width of furring strips is good) and then the other side slips into the depth that the door closes into. Sorry hard to explain in words.

You're welcome, happy to help. Good luck with the build 👍
Nice video, and to think I was about to buy a dog door to modify for my sliding door. I’ll be building one of these, thanks!
Thanks, and you're welcome glad I could help. Yeah this way is much stronger/sturdier than
store bought ones too
Great job. Love it cuz it’s perfect without spending $300 in a sliding door
Thank you! Yes I was happy to save the money and make one that fit the door just right 👍
Looks great! Impressive freestyle with the jigsaw
Thank you 😁👍 yeah I was happy how it turned out and all the animals like it

Yes, exactly. A good sheet of plywood and some paint even is less than $100 👍
Bro why did you leave us hanging and not show your dog going through the door?
😆 Sorry, they were scared to use it for like a day or so and I built this right before heading out of town. Built it for my Uncle and his animals.
Super 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 👍

@@aprilduffney1452 Thank you! Yes I just used wood I had lieing around too 👍
How did you get the measurements for where to put the the furring strips so it kinda nestles into the sliding door grooves?

wow 😀👍
Thank you, good for Lala 😄👍
👍👍
Why would you use fish eye when you're building? Everything is bent and wobbly. Definitely not the time for it.
@@HateFax sorry that camera was only one I had, a gopro. It only had the 1 view of fisheye. My new gopro can switch views now
