The venue is less responsive to strong fishmeal mixes in the winter so the Thatchers doesn't really come into play when it is cold. However, combining F1 Dark with a Natural mix such as one of our Bream Feeder or So Natural mixes works very well 👌
How is the current in that canal? When im fishing running water i always have to put my rods up to minimize the amount of line in the water. Otherwise my feeder and hooklenght get pulled away by the pressure of running water on my line. Or do you have somekind of trick to prevent this?
Hi Bart, there is very little tow on the canal, it was a windy day but the canal was not towing/flowing. On a river or should the canal have been towing a heavier tip and some elevation of the rod may be needed to keep as much line off the water as possible.
Hi Matt, You could use a paternoster rig yes, and it's very effective. However, a free running rig just gives fish a little bit longer before they feel any significant resistance and leads to those nice long and slow pull rounds. With a paternoster you can often end up with a lot of bites that are very quick and rattle the tip dramatically and when you pick up there's nothing there. Both work well though and largely comes down to personal preference 👌
tomorow i go feederfishing whit the same grounbait and fluorocks.here is only wite maggot's allowed.corn and litle worm's.this on belgium canal.look it up google earth.zeekanaal willebroek tisselt.there i am at the bridge you see on pictures.greets from belgium.
A very good example of how simple and effective a one rod feeder approach can be and how many fish can be caught with a simple method.
great tips about the cloud and line wetting andy. nice little video mate.
Glad you enjoyed!
The rod looks good for bream fishing we have some big canals around the Doncaster area what Preston rod and model was it your using
It was a Preston Innovations Supera SL (11ft) - Perfect for the likes of the New Junction and Aire & Calder and other similar venues 👌
