    Love your make and the col I ur is so nice on you. Can't believe you didn't organise a large table for cutting out in your new sewing room. I know space is sometimes an issue, but there is no way I could get down on the floor to cut out. A tour or your new space would be lovely.

    Your intro was peaceful and simply beautiful, Amelia. I’m so happy I chose your vlog to watch with my 1st coffee this morning! You chose my favorite color for your sweater knit. 😊 Thank you for showing how to sew the hand stitched buttonhole properly. I was missing a step in my process, so I’m eager to try this again. It’s impossible to find top stitch and buttonhole thread where I live and I have to order it online, sometimes resulting in mis-matches. I have a gazillion colors of embroidery floss, so that’s a win for me. Your cropped cardigan is lovely! 🥰

    • @sewamelia
      @sewamelia  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much Lynne! I am really glad you enjoyed the vlog - and hope your coffee was good too! 😊 I really like using embroidery floss for a hand sewn buttonhole, although I might use fewer strands of the floss for a lighter weight fabric. I hope you enjoy giving them a go!

    Such a lovely shade of blue. I wonder, have you tried inserting the clear elastic while you're serging the shoulders? In my machine there's a little opening in the foot where I can thread my elastic through and it attaches it to the fabric as I'm serging the edges, all in one easy step.

    • @sewamelia
      @sewamelia  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I wish my serger had that capability but I don't think it can do that. I find the elastic gets pulled out of place, or doesn't get sewn in properly unless I baste it in with the sewing machine first.

    Hey Amelia: this was very helpful. The poppers are brilliant. Didn’t know about tear away stabilizer or knit buttonhole option! I also liked how do your. seams. I prefer running mine thru the sewing machine. Please do a tutorial if u have time on hand sewn buttonhole. It makes sense to use dmc thread 😁

    Love the cardigan and the colour is amazing! When you were telling us about the buttonholes, we’re you wearing a garment you had made? The grey and white garment? I liked the look of the shape.
    Also I think a straight stitch buttonhole would work on knit fabric, straight stitching round the outside a couple of times and then cutting.

    You could of set your machine to make your buttonholes with a wider gap in the middle so no worries about nipping the stitches when cutting it open

    • @sewamelia
      @sewamelia  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Marlo is a lovely pattern too, but it does have a dropped sleeve, which isn't a style that looks great on me. I definitely prefer the Harper, but just because it has a silhouette that I think suits me better.
