Drove 1000 miles from Denver to Chicago to start Route 66, often traveling at 80-85 mph on I-80, and averaged 30.8 mpg with two people and both trunks stuffed with luggage. Worst gas mileage I ever get is around 21 mpg. Pros: Everything everyone else has already said. Cons: 1. Road noise inside cabin at higher speeds can get a bit loud if road surface is not absolutely perfect. 2. Lower part of front door panel easily gets scoffed upon entry/ exit, seen it on quite a few C-8s Cannot get rid of those marks. 3. Seams along edge of driver’s seat showing premature wear, a little disheartening. 3. Rear trunk gets quite warm, so do not carry your ice cream there. Overall, really love the car and favorite feature is the rear window on the convertible that goes up and down. Love the ventilation it offers and ability to hear the engine better when you want to.

I agree. C8 needed vertical doors. Got rid of my C7 Grand Sport Z07 and got a Lotus Elise. It’s not practical, quiet inside, or technologically advanced, but it drives like nothing else. It’s all about you the driver controlling the car and not the car doing the thinking.
Those things can rip. Went to a Boston car show and where someone brought one and we all drove from one place to another and the Lotus Elise was carving up the corners on the ride.
Great video! you are really down to earth guy and it is refreshing to see. The best color ever ! I have it and the best add last year was installing Victor racing active wing!
So I just have a quick 3 questions and I was just wondering does does the engine itself get dirty with water and is it easy to clean the engine bay, and lastly what parts should I pay the most attention to in cleaning the engine bay?
I had my engine bay ceramic coated on this car and not on my 2022 C8R and it made a world of difference. Have a ceramic pro licensed shop spray the engine bay. In terms of other engine cleaning, just do the normal. Don't introduce more water but some detailer spray to wipe things down is always good. I have a C8 tips video that shows it but the hatch opens normal but then can be opened an extra few inches to allow for more cleaning room and better rear glass access
I came across on of these for the 1st time today in Queensland Australia, and wanted to see how quick they are, i was ultra disappointed when my 24 year old GC8 left it for dead… yes i have done some work to my car, but the guy was revving at the lights and i thought maybe i would keep up in 1st and 2nd… it was really loud, and i was shocked as my old little car walked away in 3rd and after a roll race from 80kph again, my little old car walked away… the thing looked like it would eat lambos for brekkie but just didn’t go like i thought.. i bet though, if he put the same dollars into it as i did to my little old car, he would have left me for dead. Just looking at clips to see what these things are, thanks for the upload
Hi. Great video. I have that exact car, but convertible. Agree with the front plate. I am required to have the front plate where I live, but have never installed. I am factoring in 2 tickets per year, but none as of yet. Interesting comment on the front mesh. I need to look at mine. I just had a service warning to service the autolift system. Apparently the cap is an issue, but no big deal. Overall, I get the same feeling as the author. I also have the same issue going to the grocery store. Not sure what is up with that. Take Care.
There is a recall on the cap so the dealer should fix it under the TSB. I have another video about it. The cap doesn't purge pressure fast enough so the fluid spills out of the sides. 2021 onward supposedly got the new cap. Thanks for watching!
Hey. Here is the spec video: th-cam.com/video/w9sGMzZ5MPw/w-d-xo.html I have a bunch of videos of the C8s over the years. Hopefully you find a few more helpful ones on the channel
Sorry to hear that man. What kind of issues and how many miles? GM is officially investigating the DCT issues starting last week which indicates its starting to surface as an issue on enough C8s to catch their eye. The DCT filter needs to be replaced within the first year or at the 7500 mile service but seen a bunch of people having issues well before that.
@@JumpSquadAuto that’s exactly what I have been hearing as well. The same can be said about Ford and their GT350s and GT500s in terms of issues. My buddy has 3 friends, 2 of which have GT350s and one with a GT500. The three of them have had to replace engines due to catastrophic failure due to breaking engine mounts and timing chain tensioners. Even when caught early enough, the repairs take a long time and are extremely costly…. They should have just stopped at the Coyote engine…
@@AZ81RS I have a friend who has a GT500 and he beats the snot out of it and so far he hasn't had any issues. Maybe lucky tho. Stinks how long repairs are taking with the supply chain issues right now.
I'll wait another 4 to 5 years before I even consider a c8. GM quality is not the best especially for new generations. And many high mileage issues have not been found yet.
I’ve had my C8 convertible for over a year with zero issues. It’s a blast to drive every single time I get in it. I can’t imagine robbing myself of these experiences because of an unknown fear that the car could have any quality issues. Tomorrow is guaranteed to no one so the only real reason not to get it is if you just can’t afford it. In 5 years new Vettes will likely be electric.
Soooo he’s right about getting the car you want but don’t over pay for something you’ll see on the road everyday like a mustang. If your going to go through the headache get a 1 year older z06 and I bet you’ll love it and save a few bucks. You only get some many trips around the sun Sir. Good speed
Hey nice car! But drive it more in the coming year like maybe 10-15,000 miles so you can say it’s RELIABLE AFTER REGULAR USE. More use will reveal quality issues … if any. Red is the best color.
How do you like that natural color interior ??? Im torn between red and natural color interior. Does it look a bit old man color to you ??? Or Ferrari like ?
I liked the tan with the two tone black. I think all tan would be too much. I really liked that interior but the lighter colors seem to wear faster. I have Strike yellow with the skycool gray now on my 2022 and its also wearing fast. It does send ferrari vibes.
Coming into this one very late...but it needs to be reiterated not to buy on the lot...you will pay 20-30k over MSRP order your vette the way you want it it and pay that price not a penny more...if they won't take the order go elsewhere ...never pay more than MSRP
Pamela Benskin Oh noo!I have heard of that happening with random C8's..now you have me worried about 1500 miles (only at 800)😳!was there any sign of trans issues leading up to that point or did it just happen without warning?
I have a video explaining which one I went with and why. th-cam.com/video/bDoLy66bdPY/w-d-xo.html I did not get the inner vents but just the outer to protect the radiator from direct impact.
Nice review and congratulations. My dealer told me that if I install the front screens for the radiators, that they restrict air flow to the radiators therefore voiding the warranty. Your thoughts.
The chief engineer of Chevy said the same thing in a press event. I don't see them replacing my dinged and dented radiators if I leave them exposed so its like picking my poison. They look awful within 3k miles without some protection. I have driven the C8 for a year with the guards and I don't track the car, haven't noticed any temp changes with them, I am rolling the dice. Other mid engine super cars like lambos and mclarens have smaller mesh openings so hopefully Chevy fixes it better in the future straight off the assembly line.
I have never played golf but the sales specialist who sold it too me said he fit two golf bags in there comfortably. It is pretty big for storage space on a mid-engine car.

You’ve put only 6,000 miles on it so simply not enough mileage and only a year so not enough time for a meaningful review on quality and reliability. You need more driving time and miles to make a serious review on all, these quality issues. But it does look great as it’s still a NEW lightly used car. Put another 20,,000 miles on it and see how it works out.
At first glance, your recommendations seem sound. However, this is a sports car. Not a car that exists to put miles on. This does not mean poor quality is acceptable. I ordered my ‘23 late last year. I am a real car guy and can fortunately afford them. But at 66 I always hated corvettes. The C8 is a sea change. I have a Z51 3LT with many options. I have only 1,600 miles on mine and it still blows my mind. GM knocked it out of the park. Mine is a body color accent, dual silver stripe Amplify Orange. What color is your C8?
@@freddywayne LOL. I work in the tech sector now but have worked a ton of odds and ends gigs to get through college. Landscaping, pool service, plowing just to name a few. That hard work message was more for people in their older years looking to buy the C8. I still got a lot of years of hard work left too do :)

Just got me 1a week ago and a day... man coming from the bottom to the top brother.
Congratulations. I'm sure you worked hard for it. Time to enjoy and have fun.
Badass c8! I love the color, i hope to get one soon
Fingers crossed you get your soon. Check out a few of my recent videos. There are below MSRP new C8s out there now.
I’m interest in the Emira , it looks beautiful !
Awesome review. Thanks for sharing
Loved what you said @ 10:50 Very true!!
Great video! you are really down to earth guy and it is refreshing to see. The best color ever ! I have it and the best add last year was installing Victor racing active wing!
Thanks man! That wing looks epic. I have the high wing on my 2022. I got super lucky with the C8R so traded and love the big wing life lol.
I understand, best car I have
Good things happen to good people
time flies, so glad to hear you're having fun!
Thanks Rick! You have helped make this journey 10x better.
6:41 +1 for the Home Depot receipts stuffed in the center console
Amen. Peace be with you.
To think some people pay more for pickup trucks
very good video. you did not ramble....but gave an interesting story line and shot framing. well done.
Go back and watch an early vid....SO much rambling lol. I am getting better. Woo. Thanks for watching!
Woohoo c8 anniversary! Hope you got it a nice gift even if you plan to break up with it soon.
Break up with the C8?Blasphemy!!😂😂
My sentiments exactly!
I'm so sorry to hear he doesn't like his car. 😁
A red engine cover would be a nice accent for your engine bay.
I was between red to match the car or yellow to match the calipers. Ultimately fell off my radar lol
Awesome video
on the waitlist for one. meanwhile i love watching your videos
Thanks buddy. Appreciate the positive feedback! Hopefully no major production issues so they can pump out more C8s and get you in yours.
That is one really nice supercar
Does this have the Z51pkg? Would you be kind enough to share how it is optioned out? Thanks
Hey. Here is the spec video: th-cam.com/video/w9sGMzZ5MPw/w-d-xo.html
I have a bunch of videos of the C8s over the years. Hopefully you find a few more helpful ones on the channel
@@JumpSquadAuto Thank you very much for your immediate reply; looking forward to seeing them; much appreciated.
I’ve been hearing about issues with the new dual clutch transmission. Any insight on that?
Hopefully no issues are found but can totally understand where you care coming from.
Don't wait Man, if you love it, Get it!! Life is not promised as you know. Enjoy it today worry about quality issues when, if they happen.
Don't worry it's on its third year and you're gonna wait almost 2 years the way things are... Go ahead and get on the list
Good speed
Nice review
Hey nice car! But drive it more in the coming year like maybe 10-15,000 miles so you can say it’s RELIABLE AFTER REGULAR USE. More use will reveal quality issues … if any. Red is the best color.
Hoping to do more long road trips with the C8. Pandemic limited how much I could travel long distances.
In a year or two I will look for a nice used C8 and see if it makes me a giddy as my used 2013 Fiat Abarth ;+)
As an upholster get some slipon covers to protect the seats
I've never found a seat cover I liked lol
How do you like that natural color interior ??? Im torn between red and natural color interior. Does it look a bit old man color to you ??? Or Ferrari like ?
I liked the tan with the two tone black. I think all tan would be too much. I really liked that interior but the lighter colors seem to wear faster. I have Strike yellow with the skycool gray now on my 2022 and its also wearing fast. It does send ferrari vibes.
amazing vid im from europe but im gonna have this one day!
Can’t wait to get my own C8
Hopefully you are close to the end of your wait. You will absolutely love it!
Amazing Video!! 👏
Thank you for the kind words. Appreciate it! Thank you for watching as well.
8:20 Best 1yr review of the Best Corvette yet 💰💰💰
Thanks man. Appreciate it!
Crazy its been 1 year already
Yeah man. Time is flying. Hope all is well!
@@JumpSquadAuto all is well man been so busy with work i havent uploaded any vids
no oil change?
Where did you buy your radiator guards(mesh)?
Thank you
I go through the install in this video: th-cam.com/video/bDoLy66bdPY/w-d-xo.html Got them from: c8grills.com/
nice video buddy
Thanks man!
Coming into this one very late...but it needs to be reiterated not to buy on the lot...you will pay 20-30k over MSRP order your vette the way you want it it and pay that price not a penny more...if they won't take the order go elsewhere ...never pay more than MSRP
This video is two plus years old. Have some newer videos. Can get stingrays on the lot for 10k below MSRP now.
8:25 : so did you get the phone numbers? 😂
I've only had my new C8 a month and i feel exactly like you do about it so far!!Great review👍🏼
Thanks and congrats on getting going with your C8 journey. I am sure you are finding out it was worth the wait. Enjoy!
Jump Squad - Auto 100% Thanks brother👍🏼
Pamela Benskin Oh noo!I have heard of that happening with random C8's..now you have me worried about 1500 miles (only at 800)😳!was there any sign of trans issues leading up to that point or did it just happen without warning?
Another great video buddy!
Thanks man! 🙂
Pretty good car, almost as good as the v8 Camaro with a manual granny
You have a link for the mesh for front vents . How much? Thanks
I have a video explaining which one I went with and why. th-cam.com/video/bDoLy66bdPY/w-d-xo.html
I did not get the inner vents but just the outer to protect the radiator from direct impact.
Thanks vette guy
VetteNation!
Are those stock wheels?
Yep those are the stock Spectra gray wheels. Only stock wheel I liked.
@@JumpSquadAuto Very nice. Yes.
@@JumpSquadAuto they suck. Standard wheel is so much more clean!
GM says u can fit golf bags in there. Can u? Looks tight for that
I have never played golf but the sales specialist who sold it too me said he fit two golf bags in there comfortably. It is pretty big for storage space on a mid-engine car.
Dudes had his license for like a year..."one of my best years driving" 🤣🤣
LOL. Had my channel for a year. License for over a decade. I am old man.
@@JumpSquadAuto actually thought you were the kid that keeps popping up on my feed. He's literally about 17 or 18 years old trading in cr8's. I just dont understand where these kids get this kind of money that I had to work and sacrifice to be able to afford
Some are born into rich families and parents can bank roll cool cars, some these days get lucky with crypto and some work into a good opportunity. Can't hate on anyone for winning the game of life. I have had the pleasure of dumpster diving in my days and it helped build character and perspective lol. Been fortunate enough to find the right people in life to show me ways to do things better.
What does he o for a living?
YOU ACTUALLY ORDERED IT RED WITH BANNA TAN AND BLACK INTERIOR?
Yes.
Nice
👍
how much did it set u back outta door?
The car?
yes the car...how much did u pay outta door? did u have to pay a hefty premium for it like how it is now?
@@booyaolian Ahh I got it for MSRP. I have videos for spec, pricing, payment and insurance for both C8s on the channel so check it out. You might like seeing the numbers. Order and wait. The car is only worth it at MSRP. Order from one of the bigger dealers for your area that does sticker pricing for orders
i had no idea u could do that. thanks!
WOW...YOU REALLY DID THE REV IN A TUNNEL DOUCHE SIGNATURE MOVE? LOL.
Its the best place to do it. They guy and his kids in the car behind me was cheering me on at the next light
Damn right it’s the best time to do it which is why Harley’s do it every time and sound 10 times louder and 10 times worse. Get over it and you don’t like it why even comment on it? Just to let him know you didn’t like when everyone else that actually likes cars know what time it is in the tunnel. Be gone dude be gone lol! Do it again in the tunnel next even louder for 666KTY you bundle of sticks 😂
All these Corvettes have transmission problems. I need to know I want to purchase one, but I think I will buy the dark horse instead.

@@JumpSquadAuto 😍
In the near future when you park it next to a 2023 Zo6 you'll probably decide you should have waited especially when you lose 35k in depreciation.
I got this in 2020 so I would have had to wait 3 years for the Z06 to be out and another 3 to actually get a z06.
Even the Z06 will depreciate eventually, if your worried about depreciation buy an Accord.
@@deand9730 or a gt3 😉
Its like a la ferrari had a baby with Lamborghini gallardo...Why spend millions designing cars when you can just steal italian designs .....Saying that I would not kick it out of bed for eating chips !

🙄 So....what does this so-called hard worker do for a living?? Asking for a friend.
hard work
🤦🏾♂️
@@freddywayne LOL. I work in the tech sector now but have worked a ton of odds and ends gigs to get through college. Landscaping, pool service, plowing just to name a few. That hard work message was more for people in their older years looking to buy the C8. I still got a lot of years of hard work left too do :)
Okee dokee. Thanks for the reply & explanation. 😏
I left a deposit for a base C8 last month at my local dealer for MSRP. It will take roughly 1.5 years before it’s my turn to configure the car and place an order.
That seems like a little bit more then the current wait time. Is it a volume dealer? I would hit up one of the 3-4 biggest volume dealers.
@@JumpSquadAuto I have no problem waiting. I am actually hoping for a 2024 model. They deliver roughly 8 Corvettes a month and they have a 150 customers on their waiting list.
@@mini2nut67 Thats not bad at all. Seems like a pretty large sized dealer. Congrats on the order tho. You will love the car
