    1. Reality of getting Machine Learning/AI Jobs at top product companies like Google, Facebook as a fresher.
    2. Setting realistic deadlines and timelines to get a job in this field.
    3. Salary and package Expectations as a fresher for machine learning/deep learning engineer roles.

Honestly, one to two years to learn a serious skill set seems pretty fast to me. Once I decided to take learning programming seriously, it took three years of multiple hours of study a day for me to get to the point where I felt I could build non-trivial projects.

I've got about 10 years of experience now and I do have a decent job. Having said that, I still wouldn't say I feel like I have all the skills I need and I have to learn new things and remind myself of previous things I've learned regularly. Studying never stops. What I'd say about the value of a student fresh out of their Bachelor's is that, if they are trained to know relevant aspects of ML in a decent degree, they might be quite useful so long as they were taught relevant modern practices. Infact, some practitioners have quite out-dated knowledge and aren't willing to change much. However, the knowledge of a Bachelor's student would be very brittle. They wouldn't be comfortable dealing with unclear and poorly defined problems, which is what most problems are. When you encounter such problems, you need a lot of experience and ways to make progress despite there being nothing to read or examples to follow to move forward.
When we take on interns or students doing their Master's thesis we expect them to need a lot of help and to have very clearly defined problems. The ability for students to work independently varies dramatically though and it is partly just an inherent trait some people have and others lack regardless of their technical skills. Moreover, a Bachelor's student would discover that their uni had just one take on what was important and they would encounter different ideas and perspectives very different to their own out in the wild. They'll discover that they didn't really master anything during their studies and they just had a very brittle first snapshot of their field and they should expect to keep learning for the rest of their lives. One good thing about them is that they tend to work hard and want to impress. Older practioners don't care about impressing anyone anymore and care more about work-life balance.

An addition I believe is also important is... if you want a good job with AI, do something useful in a personal project, publish and you will be find! Not the opposite! This is another approach you can take! Because everywhere there is someone looking for performance, not knowledge!! Because of that, diplomas don't have much value! And when you think about deep mind or something related, prepare your PHD or a very good participation in a project! They are looking for results, not theory! A good theory results in good results! ;)

I think one should be able to convert worldly problem into mathematical equations and then should be able to either maximize or minimize, depending on the requirem. For example to maximize the profit or minimize the loss. Or it may be a two or more variable dependent and independent issue. Hence if one is not good in mathematics then this field is not for him. As here one need to make mathematical models and then implement these models with python. It is a consultant job

That's true, I'm currently a final year student in the field of AI & ML. As our placements have started I hardly see any AI companies come to our college. Even if they come, they want us to have huge knowledge in this domain. (Considering ML, DL, MATHEMATICS, CV etc).
Neither I'm an expert in AI nor I have knowledge about CS subjects, I can't even place in a single company!!.
Coming to resources: AI subjects have far less resources compared to CS subjects.
So you have put in lot of efforts to gain knowledge as well!!
That's why I have made a decision to drop AI, and concentrate on CS subjects. (For a software engineer role)
Just started to learn java,OPPS, HTML, Networks, OS.
I'm hoping to see some good results in future.

And to the person that I guess replied but deleted their comment. Yes, a lot of companies pay for employee studies, it happens all the time. The only thing is that they want to see that you are actually serious about your career path and that you show promise. As well as that, you will be staying with them for a good amount of time until they get a return on their investment. So they may sometimes make you sign a contract that they will pay for the your school but you need to stay at least so many years with the company.
For example, my contract states that they will pay for the $300k MIT education, and I in return will stay with them for at least 5 years. Then after that time, I have the option to get a 300% raise and stay with the company or leave the company to do something else and be an on-call consultant for them for at least another 10 years while still being paid the same. So basically that means I will get to find another job or start my own start-up and still be paid the same amount of money I make now, which is a good amount, and all I have to do is consult them whenever they call me which won't be often like 5 to 8 times a month. Then sometimes they may pay me more to come into HQ and consult the team in person.

@@Muhammad-Imran.231 bro if you don't like programming then don't even bother with anything in the electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, much less AI. Those fields use nothing but programming. AI is literally nothing but programming.
Also the languages you noted are the basic languages that all engineers must learn including Aerospace and mechanical engineers (well as long as you want to move up in positions).

Hii I am a mechanical engineer and I have done MSc mathematics. My initial goal was to get into academia and start my PhD in maths. Currently I teach IB maths. I am having second thoughts about the field of academia from the financial perspective. My questions is that if I enrol in a PG diploma in AI and ML, would that help me with securing a job? Should I go for this course in India or abroad? If I do it from UK will be able to secure a job in India? Any help is highly appreciated.

I am an ML engineer at Google working in the Mountain View headquarters. I would definitely agree with what this guy has to say. Patience is key and it takes a long time to be skillful enough to be in the machine learning domain. Also machine learning is not the only things. There are so many different aspects to computer science where one can succeed.
