    As an American it's kind of cool to be able to get a little glimpse of England here. I've never been over to the U.K. Been to Germany, but would love to come see England and adventure someday. Cheers from the states ! Keep up the great content man !

      The children railways trains vary from 10 minutes to a stop or a full journey from Birmingham to Marylebone takes 2 hours, I know because I've been on a train to Leamington spa, takes half an hour

    I often take this route to London from Moor Street. Chiltern offer a far nicer journey than Virgin, and Marylebone is a nice station to enter London as opposed to Euston which is a dump. Looking forward to seeing how realistic this route is!

    38:00 a few of the London terminus stations still have on-platform bike racks, and some rural stations have one or two as well.

    The train you're driving is a Class 165 (made to look like a class 168) Also, the Class 165 comes with TS2014, TS2015 and then stops there. If you get TS2017 for the first time, and didn't buy any older version, you have to buy this train separately
    The power/brake handle on this is different
    -10% to 100% is power
    -30% is idle and below is braking
    Great video btw :)

  • @Jamesclass37
    @Jamesclass37 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    This train is not actually JT's creation. It is actually the original class 166 in fgw from rail simulator. It is only a reskin from just trains which is why it's so rubbish. However, I do believe that it does have a cab view.

    • @triturn8676
      @triturn8676 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I used to live in Dorridge, from what i remember it looks pretty accurate. I remember the mock Todor buildings opposite the station, it's a row of shops. Nice village.

  • @jacobwoods8738
    @jacobwoods8738 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The reason the stops get farther apart is from Amersham (parralle to Princes Risborough) the Metropolitan Line gradually joins the Chiltern Line (as you mentioned), and it makes all the stops, so the mainline no longer needs to, unlike out in the countryside where it is the only method of mass transit. I hope this helps, just trying to answer some of your comments/questions.

    I kow that some in some cases (Almelo De Riet in the Netherlands is an example of this) where tere is the up platform on the up line. then a level crossing and then the down platform. This is done so that Trains don't block the automated crossing while waiting at the station. It wil always first pass the level crossing, then stop, no matter what direction it comes from

    Squirrel, Warwick Stations staggered platforms were the result of a goods yard and bay platform that was situated south of Platform 1, staggered platforms are also the result of rationalisation as well as more recent platform extensions or complete rebuilds which may not have the freedom space to build in parallel.

    They really do that at Leamington. They’ve got a double decker bike rack, some on the bottom some on the top. The racks are normally packed because people can’t be asked to spend the extra money to book the spot on the train.

    Squirrel, you need to remember tunnels are pitch black in reality. train head lights for the most part arent that bright. theyre for trackworkers and passengers to see the train not for the driver to see out.
    drivers are trained extensively to know where everything is in the event of a headlight failure to the point they technically could drive the route blindfolded!

    • @thestargateking
      @thestargateking 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      TPWS Productions that's the opposite of where I live, where I live the headlights are so bright that they usually have to turn them off at a station

    • @anotherianp
      @anotherianp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Some places have tunnel lighting. Some short tunnels get some natural light inside, but otherwise tunnels are exactly as TPWS Productions says - absolutely pitch black. The only thing you didn't mention is that all cabs have a torch, capable of displaying colour (red/green) as well as white light. As part of the takeover of the unit, they should test the torch - it's considered safety equipment.

    • @TPWSProductions
      @TPWSProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Remember this is the UK not australia or most of europe ;)

    • @TPWSProductions
      @TPWSProductions 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There isn't one of those in every cab Ian, every driver/ guard is to carry one in their kit bag at all times.

    • @anotherianp
      @anotherianp 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, yes, you are correct - but one kitbag should be in each cab and the torch should be tested (but from what I understand rarely is!) during vehicle handover.

    Just saying, the tunnel lighting between Snow Hill and Moor Street is a very realistic depiction. Driving a 165 through any tunnel is like plunging yourself into a pitch black hole.
    Chiltern's 165s also only have a top speed of 75mph

    Dorrigde is indeed a village with a population of only 7,800 but the station is rather busy serving 0.7 million journeys per year.
    As for the staggered platforms it is probably either because of the fact that the platforms at Warwick were extended and that was where the space to do so was or possibly because of the fact Warwick used to have a third platform apparently it was mostly used to house the banking engines needed to assist heavy goods trains up the grade to Hatton back in the steam days. Also it's not a bride it's a subway between platforms at Warwick.

  • @Electricfox
    @Electricfox 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    @squirrel Staggered platforms used to be made in order to allow passengers to cross the tracks to the other platform, obviously these days they'd use a footbridge or subway, crossing the tracks is a big no-no for most parts.

  • @danbob2109
    @danbob2109 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    The 166 isn't a JT loco, it is an original rail simulator one from 2006 ish, JT have just reskinned it into a 168. Hence it has few features, and no cablight. Also, the throttle/brake isn't properly calibrated so 30% brake is actually neutral and 10% brake applies power [logic!]. The passenger view appears to have no engine sound...quality unit ;)

    There are many reasons why stations might have staggered platforms. At Warwick the platforms are (slightly) offset owing to restraints imposed by the embankment-top site and, especially, the former layout of goods sidings and loops (all now removed). Incidentally, the game is wrong in labelling the up (London-bound) platform as Platform 1: it is, in fact, Platform 2.
