I LOVE IT
As a SERVER, I can tell you FOR ME, I HATE when the kitchen doesn't communicate what we don't have in the kitchen until you've put the order in. It's beyond frustrating for us as well as the guest/patron. It makes us look incompetent and unaware. I try to find out what we are out of beforeEVERY SHIFT and I communicate that to my tables before they order.
I can 100 percent agree with this as a server as well.. in the restaurant business we try to relay whats 86'd but theres alot of things that can happen. Cooks get slammed with orders, managers get busy talking to tables dealing with complaints or compliments, and servers get overloaded by customers etc.... and yes us servers hate having to tell people we dont have something its a terrible feeling for us more then the customer to be honest.
im not currently a server but bc of my time working as one ive gotten the habit of asking the server if they’re out of anything before i even look at a menu. ive had to break to many hearts already

My only point of contention with Delta's opener is the comment on seeing the staff front of house, wondering why they are not making more shrimp and grits. Chefs would fry the average server if they attempted to do the cooking. Fine, they shouldn't have been watching the game, but does Delta really deserve or want grits cooked by an amateur?
Can we just talk about how Delta, MOM, and us, the faithful viewers of Very Delta, have created an utterly stunning, refined and elegant community of women and all kinds of queer dolls. Delta is speaking all the truths re: corporate surveys. Y’all might not know this, but most organizations count anything other than a perfect score as a “detractor” and it tanks the team’s score, even if you rate a 9 out of 10. Always give perfect scores unless there is an issue; then ask to speak to a manager so they can make it right.
Yeah if it’s not a 5 star review it’s no counted.
net promoter score standard detractor is 7 or below. It sounds like you were lied to.
@@RutherfordB I’ve worked for several organizations who use differing metrics. My current org does 7 or below, but all of the others did 9 or below. I work in a niche industry with a lot of industry specific surveys and stuff.

I love being reminded of OPI's "I'm not really a waitress". I saw it when it first came out in a magazine and became obsessed. I bought it and wore it constantly especially when I used to have acrylic nails. Getting nails again for my son's wedding in November, and I wish I still had a bottle.

With making food for the restraunt those are usually the prep cooks, they usually either come in early and make a big batch for the day(or week depending on the food) so seeing kitchen workers yess would br a little annoying but more than likely they have never had to worry ab prepping anything that the prep cook does so they probably don't know the recipe, stuff like that. Love you Delta just wanted to put my experience in restraunts to maybe help understand how the moving parts work together.❤❤

I think the solution is for the server to acknowledge the error, comp your meal, and tell you which are the three *fastest made* menu items. That addresses the thoughts you’re having of making the whole table fee awkward.
Delta going off is always the best. I definitely 1000% agree with the survey. Every bad surveys from any customer service will never get to the corporate level the person who assisted you will be the one who suffers and those people usually can lose their job or risk their job even with just one negative survey!

Ok Delta I’ve worked as a server for 23 years. The answer to your question is because management forgets to update the servers on what where out of for the day. So I find to avoid this happening with me and my guests. I always take the time at the beginning of the shift to find out what we’re out of. So in my opinion blame always falls on the server. I ordered a blouse through an AD on instagram (which I try not to do) it had a beautiful woven detail and I studied every picture closely and it looked really high quality. When it came, it was just a print, there was no actual texture, and the fabric itself was actually very thin, and I felt stupid and now the shirt hangs in my closet. Lesson learned lol
My friend ordered what looked like a very ornate witch hat around Halloween. Not cheap, either! When it showed up, it would only fit a doll's head and was just a chunk of purple felt with some straw glued on. Awful.

Properly when isn’t busy the kitchen tend to run out of items. Many restaurant don’t have budget enough to afford the loss of kg of product. Sometimes during the cooking they realise that the product doesn’t have the great quality that they normally do.
Working in hospitality for more than 20 years, and we come up with the same problems. The complaint comes always from someone that never worked in restaurants and don’t understand the difficulties of working with material that has expiring date.

Good morning, Delta. I work as a server and I can tell you this: it’s very correct when you said there are a lot of moving parts in restaurant staff, and if an item is 86ed a lot of the times it’s simply that someone forgot to write it down or tell everyone. It’s very annoying and everyone in the kitchen gets mad at the servers for then asking “do we have XYZ entree” and I’m like, maybe write it down? On the board we have for 86ed items? Just a thought. So if they were doing their jobs right they would’ve known they didn’t have shrimp and grits and wouldn’t have let you order it in the first place, or when they greeted you and they knew they didn’t have it they should have let you know. Also the fact that they WAITED until the whole table had entrees…..that’s fucked up and they are not good at their job, sorry to say. That’s horrible work ethic.
