LOVE Benny Hill. I'm from Chicago, 53years old and I remember my cousins and I sneak watching this at night. We weren't allowed, and I don't know how we never got caught because we laughed so much and so loud. 😂 Genius, pure genius.
A while ago, in England, the media asked some students to watch him on the basis that he is lewd, racist and sexist in his work; the students watched and were cracking up with laughter which of course upset the media as the programme was about banning his work !😂
he started when in the Army, entertaining the troops........... R.I.P Mr Benny Hill............. he made me laugh all my young life long.......... and still does...........
The Stamp Collector kills! I love that actress, she's just hilarious. Edit: had no idea BH could do impressions this well. Most TH-camrs probably too young to know, but those Old Hollywood impressions are very good indeed. What a talent he was.
Love Benny!! Used to watch him at midnight with mom all the time. He made us laugh so hard!!! We'd watch him, as well as Dave Allen At Large, and Faulty Towers.
Living with my grandpa, who went to bed just after lunch time, it seemed. He wanted the know what it was i wanted to see on TV so late at night. One of my greatest memories was hearing him snicker behind me on his lounge chair, as I lay on the floor, directly in front of the boob tube. That had to have been around 1978, when I was 11. RIP Pop. The greatest man I ever knew.
Benny Hill was a VERY early TV act, going back to the late 1940s. However then the BBC TV service was limited to the London area There was no video then and the BBC service was live. For much of Hills career it was either BBC or the commercial ITV. His early shows were good and didn't rely on scantily clad women to the extent his Thames (ITV) shows did in the 1970s and 80s.
Of the countless hours of TBHS that I snuck out of my bedroom to watch as a young boy, I can’t recall having ever seen any of these very early skits… funny stuff!

Hill often mocked the misogynistic culture of the British TV and film industry, pre-Kirkland. His 1971 impersonation of Jimmy Savile, in particular, only hinted at what a total creep Savile was behind-the-scenes (his skewering of his name as "Jimmy Saveloy" incorporated a euphemism for a certain male sex organ - basically hinting Savile was a pervert, even then).
Theatrical cross dressing in Brittain goes WAY back. Up to the 1600s, women didn't even appear onstage; their parts were played by men & boys. Since then, it's been comedic, but I can't say how far back from us. At least the 1800s.

so much rare comedic innovation from the great Benny Hill which no one can come near these days .........
Benny had a very long career and was clearly unique and very funny from the start. I just wish he was appreciated these days the way he should be.

I miss those old heavy telephones with the round number dials. 4:33
Those were rotary phones.
This is like a time capsule you can see how the show changed with time.
Great actor
didn't know Benny Hill started long ago , in the late 50's it had a very long career
his show went on for almost 40 years...imagine we still watch it today in 2019 and the guy has passed away in 1992 that"s 28 years already!

Like he couldn’t have rebranded... shame on Thames!
Benny Hill was one of the funniest men, sadly I heard he died penniless and alone.
He was alone when he passed, that is true. But he was worth $10 million when he passed. It ended up going to his nieces and nephews.
@@goldpet66 Thanks for correctting me I always heard people say he died without any money .
He died alone but definitely NOT penniless.
He had 7.5 million. pounds in his bank account

Now I know where Elton John got the title for his song from!
Sorry but, I don't think Elton wrote the song or the title, just the music.

So, I recently made a connection..? If you look at Mike Myers of Waynes World, SNL in 2021 he seems to be morphing into Benny Hill..?
Soundtrack for this anyone? I noticed some Romanian music but I would like to know the name of the tracks

Wouldn't he have made a great reader for talking books!😮😂
Is possible that Benny talking about BBC being short of cash is his idea and everyone after that took that as standing joke on screen like M&W in 70's
Talk about old -- when this material originally aired,
the BBC hadn't even yet learned to wipe itself!
So ... THIS is what Elton John was wailing on and on and on and on about ... !
TOO QUIET.
