We have been lied to. I will never understand how people didn't appreciate these cars. As good as the 348 is the reason I absolutely adore the 355 is that it takes any possible shortcomings and delivers. Mainly the power not that it had to have it but near 400 sure is nice in that chassis. I do think the only thing the 348 has over 355 is the steering rack. That's the only possible knock I have on the beloved 355.
@@ZondaF355 the F355 is a masterpiece, no question. For the love of humanity, your camera crew needs a 4Runner (or anything else) with a roll-down back window! Great shots though.. I've always loved the 348.
I own a 348GTB, I have driven 308GTS/GT4, 355, 360, 430. For me the 348 is the sweet spot, the 355 is actually much nicer to drive around town, more compliant....but when you press on at speed on a winding road, there really isn't that much in it, I prefer the 348 steering and feel at speed than the 355....Yes the 355 is a little more powerful, but really there is not that much in it.... I was looking to buy a 355 but I felt at the time the 348 was much better buying, the 355's felt over priced to me along with many annoying issues......yes the 348 is not perfect, but none of them are. Ferrari never made bad cars, 348 handling is on point, its a great drive........I feel some journalists who's driving skills were not up to the 348 performance capabilities gave it a bad wrap.......But whatever, I have one and love it!! Great video man, thanks for increasing the value of my 348, in fact I think I have to take it out for a blast right now after seeing this!!
Of your list I have never driven the 308GT4, I have never known of a decent one to drive. It’s a shame because I love the way they look. The 355 valve / exhaust manifold / body corrosion issues (which seem more common than on 348) put me off. The 360 has THE BEST engine display compartment . It’s like a jewel on on display. Not super fast but I would take one of those over the much faster 430. If the scud was manual it would probably be one I longer for . I love the look of the 458, but man. They just get so rapid from there it’s in a different “gear” so to speak. I think of them much different . No longer a sports car to be savoured but more of a weapon. We are in the age of weapons grade cars and sadly most are owned by non enthusiasts without the honed skills. But that is a rant for another time. Thanks so much for watching
348 is a WAY better car. No power steering, no crazy 5v / cylinder, easy maintenance and reliability - and best of all - the money you save is the money you use to drive the car like it's stolen. A beautiful, brilliant package.
The F355 is like a lipstick version of the 348 lol... F355 does have some upgraded curves and functions along with power, but the 348 is simply more raw and pure Ferrari to its core. Goes fast enough, and getting there makes one of the best sounds ever... that's enough of me today!
@@MrJojofoto I really like the 512TR. The best “evolution” or the TR family in my opinion. The 512M took it a bit too far though I get that this is completely subjective. Thanks so much for watching!

Shamefully underrated car. It does all the Ferrari V8 things really well, perhaps just not at the absolute limit. But who realllly cares? It looks great, sounds great, feels great, and smells great ;) As a kid, I loved Burago 1/24 models and had a bunch of 'em including the 348. Never did I once think it was ugly or lesser than any of the others. Years later, I drove a colleague's 348 TB aaaaaaaand....... it was awesome. I'm not a racecar driver and neither are the vast majority of people who scoff at these cars. To me, the 348 is a "sports car" rather than a "supercar". It's not modern performance car fast, but it still feels quick and nimble and is perfect for a spirited blast on your favorite driving roads!
When you put a prancing horse on it, particularly these last 15 years or so, it seems the expectation is “supercar”. Supercar is rarely what people want on a Saturday afternoon. The adage of “driving a slow car fast is more fun that driving a fast car slow” you can use 90% of the performance of these cars and about 30% of the newer ones. That really does translate into a bit of frustration. I actually had the Burago models as well. I had a shop where I sold cars back some years ago and Some stole those models from my youth. That still stings a bit and in the last few years I bought them all again. They still make me smile and so does the 348! Cheers and thanks for watching!
Yeah, it has 30 more hp than the 328, but it is at least 400 lbs heavier. Ferrari switched from a tubular chassis design to a monocoque chassis design in the 348, and the car ended up being much heavier. They haven’t made a production car below 2800 lbs since the 328. The 348 sounds superior though, especially with a Capristo exhaust. I even like it better than the 355, since the 348 both growls and screams at the same time. People who have driven the 355 and the 348 prefer the manual steering of the 348.
It’s funny. I have driven maybe a dozen or so 328 and none of them have felt light or particularly fleet, the Esprit always felt light years ahead of the 328 and yet some how on par with the 348. I’ll have another go.
Completely appreciate your take. If you resonate with the NSX then by all means enjoy! I had 2 years ago , one was supercharged and I just never connected with it. I love the S2000 just to prove my Honda non bias. Thanks so much for watching !!
@@TimsEnthusiastGarageI’m with you. I’ve owned an NSX (Stock) and it just never felt overly exciting in any category. I will say I love the how low the dash is in those cars, and probably one of my favorite interiors of a car I’ve owned! The NSX is very much like the 348. People either love them or find themselves disappointed.
@@sarahdell4042 so true. They are a bit polarizing. Positives on the NSX: it has the second best non gated shifter in any car period. It’s butter (first place goes to the S2000) I also love how low the dash is and how you sit in the car. That being said it feels like a cross between EG civic and Acura Legend in there. I know I am mission something because lots of people love the NSX. Of that generation I quite like the FD RX7 and here again we have a car where people fear it because of the reliability but it has so much more emotion and is a brilliant chassis with what feels like no inertia. Thanks for watching !!
@@WillEhmannDesign mondial t gets honorable mention in here. I’m a fan. The early cars are pretty unreliable and a bit less refined, that said, I have spent some time in a Mondial 8 and I would still take that over an NSX. Slower? Yes. Better? Absolutely.
348 is expensive to maintain both in parts costs and effort to service. The Mondial (outside the T which is a 348 drivetrain) is far more under rated. Reliable, cheaper to service, and still provides the Ferrari experience. The 348 had build quality issues that get better as the run goes on. The late convertibles are very similar to a 355. The 348 gearbox loves to eat itself. Similar to how the TR diff likes to eat itself. I am sorry, but this review is youtube fluff. It doesn't cover what the real ownership experience of a 348 is. It doesn't care that the car is not the most reliable. It doesn't care that the value is tied to remaining low miles and also a service history with a reputable ferrari service center. It may sound better than an NSX and have better steering feel than one, but the nsx isn't going to require an engine out every 7 years. The NSX isn't going to grenade the gearbox under normal circumstances like a 348 might.
I own a several dozen Bentley, Aston, Ferrari, Maserati etc. the mondial t is the best mondial BY FAR. I have spent many miles in an Mondial 8 and they are hilariously unreliable almost from a completely different era by way of quality. The last 95 Spiders are lovely and the late car in which I have spent the most time but quality wise very similar to my 91, power wise the bump is near imperceptible. The F355 with its extra revs and considerable power bump and tighter gear stack is a set ahead though much more expensive to maintain in my experience. I had a Testarossa with 50k miles on the original engine and gearbox. It never ate its gearbox. Your last paragraph, sounds like someone who is completely missing the point. While Ferrari can be a sound buy in terms of resale everyone , every single person is quite aware that a mechanical device will need serve. Having owned hundreds of cars and having covered hundreds of thousands of miles in “expensive to maintain” cars I would simply say if the cost of repair puts you off, cars in general aren’t for you. Having recently Serviced my Arnage, and posted about the cost of that service, I assure you I do care that people get to have a fair view of ownership. Fluff? Some people (myself included) will happily watch videos of cars I love just see them in action and hear other peoples take. Headed to your channel now to conduct a similar audit, quite sure I will find no fluff. Cheers and thanks for watching!
I meant to add to this , the NSX I owned had SIGNIFICANTLY more issues than my Lotus (on which I have put more than 18k miles). I actually found it quite amusing, no pleasure was had from those cars. I will start stockpiling gear boxes now 🤌
To be 100% fair. I’ve owned an NSX. If you’re not doing repairs yourself. Labor costs are very much on par with what it would cost to service this 348. Now, parts cost are much higher on the 348. But you’re comparing a flat plane crank Ferrari V8 to a nothing special Honda V6
@@sarahdell4042 I agree. Additionally, a lot of people form opinions from reading forum posts and haven’t ever owned the cars on which they opine. Automobile ownership is very much pay to play. People buy “reliable” cars like the 996 or NSX because they think they can buy the car and ever have a big bill. It’s why 996/986 owners live in fear of IMS. Most would be financially ruined by this yet owners see it as a potential pit fall and service accordingly. The price of the car is never the end of the road. With cars where parts can be scarce (Bentley and Ferrari are amongst them ) you really need to have a talented mechanic or be a talented mechanic. An engine out service would cost me 1/4 of what people would generally pay and in general being thrifty, shopping ahead for know needs is a good policy. My last Bentley service was a tad under 900 dollars for what would have been 6500 dollars to someone who paid blindly to the dealer. At the end of the day all cars can break, even the NSX, and for me personally I would rather have a Legend Coupe or S2000 if Honda was a requirement. Also, and this is the last bit I will add. The two least reliable cars I have ever owned - 1. 1983 ur Quattro 2. 2012 Honda Odyssey Touring The latter scared me for life, but I would gladly own another ur quattro. For me it’s not about the money. It’s about the vehicle and how it makes you feel.

The little nips and tucks on the rear deck, the up turn on the leading edge , the front and rear bumpers, the air con controls, the additional 1000 revs. Lots to love. The real win would be to have both. Cheers and thanks so much for your perspective!!
Same here, I agree it's the best-looking Ferrari!
It is so perfect ! Thanks for watching!
@TimsEnthusiastGarage I'm still waiting on the Lotus update. Yes, I'm the ex Lotus owner.. lol
@@dzagaleta engine is being built currently. New valves were needed due to sitting .
@TimsEnthusiastGarage good 👍 deal, then it will be ready for that long drive to my garage!
Great shots great Audio cool car
Thanks so much. Tried really hard with this one.
Cool car, wasn't really on my radar. It is now.
It really should be. The engines are robust, clutches are inexpensive (for an exotic), smiles per hour is up in some rarified air. I appreciate you taking the time to comment and to watch the video! Cheers!
You are so correct on the 355 being the last beautiful Ferrari penned by Pininfarina. These cars have aged like fine wine and so sweet to drive people wouldn't even believe it. NSX isn't even in the same planet as 355 I can't speak about 348 but I can agree. I also think we tend to like whichever Ferrari we are currently driving so I'll give you a pass on 348 over 355 lol. Both awesome cars love the vids!
@@ZondaF355 a review of the F355 is coming soon, hopefully this fall. They are so fantastic. “The best Ferrari is the one you are driving” that needs to be a quote if it isn’t already mate. Cheers and thanks for watching
For the love of humanity, your camera crew needs a 4Runner (or anything else) with a roll-down back window! Great shots though.. I've always loved the 348.
@@JoshsWorld hahaha. Yeah I’m sure they would agree. Thanks for watching!
@@lllll1234-g9q I agree with you! Thanks for watching
The F355 is like a lipstick version of the 348 lol... F355 does have some upgraded curves and functions along with power, but the 348 is simply more raw and pure Ferrari to its core. Goes fast enough, and getting there makes one of the best sounds ever... that's enough of me today!
The sound on the 348 was probably my favorite among all the Ferraris, just that the 512TR was still a bit better... The 348 is a great car indeed!!
@@MrJojofoto I really like the 512TR. The best “evolution” or the TR family in my opinion. The 512M took it a bit too far though I get that this is completely subjective. Thanks so much for watching!
@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I really enjoyed this video!! Since back in the early 90's I used to pass a Ferrari dealership, and between the F355, 348, and 550, the 348 was my first choice because it had that sound that was so amazing!!!!!!!!!! The 512 TR was another favorite but not the 512 M model or previous... same like you!
Gorgeous

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage great, thanks for the fast response Tim! I'll look into that option for mine!
You should upgrade to F355 wheels, and I'll say the 308 GT4 is more underrated as it also has incredible feel to it but it always gets forgotten for various reasons.
It’s funny, I haven’t driven a 308GT4, I quite like the body style but because they got cheap lots of them are really rough . Cheers and thanks for watching!

@@TimsEnthusiastGarage I do not know if it is Tim replying. Nevertheless, I love Tim's manner. Honest and just like he is talking to a friend who is curious about a car. He doesn't get get caught up on or mainly just performance. Gives an overall everyday guy feel.
@@margaretbehler4935 this is Tim and that comment very much made my day! This is exactly what I am trying to impart with the videos. Cheers!
My first Ferrari was a 1991 TS.
@@benmurphy4124 what’s your current ferrari ?
No pininfarina, No Ferrari !!
@@markyamaguchi9571 a solid motto to stand by !
This car does not need to be the fastest, also today's Ferraris sound tuned, and not a natural sound... 348 is a natural beauty!
Yes!! Well said!
Lovely Ferrari, but I still prefer the Honda NSX.
Thanks for watching !!
not a mondial so the answer is no
@@WillEhmannDesign mondial t gets honorable mention in here. I’m a fan. The early cars are pretty unreliable and a bit less refined, that said, I have spent some time in a Mondial 8 and I would still take that over an NSX. Slower? Yes. Better? Absolutely.
Peggio di lei
1) Mondial 8
2) 208 gt4 (no USA)
3) 208 gtb (no USA)
Random internet NSX fanboi doesn’t like a Ferrari… oh no! Anyway… 🇮🇹 🤌
