Mid-engine, high revving v8, gated manual, red on tan...checks the right Ferrari boxes for me. These with an exhaust might not sound quite as good as a F355 but it's up there.
Great car and a great video. Congratulations, red on tan, manual, truly timeless. Two things I can complain about - 348s are underpowered and the videos are slightly too long for my lunch break during the day and my lady's skincare routine in the evening
Hahahah thank you sir!! 1. A little more power wouldnt hurt, however its plenty fun anyway. 2. I have shorter videos that can squeeze into lunch time easier
Perfect placement of the cabin Microphone!! It sounds awesome with the gated shift clicks and the engine note under enthusiastic load. I regularly drive an employers 1988 e24 M6, which is very enjoyable and meets expectations but I would prefer the same power in a a smaller package and sounds of the 348
Looks like you bought a good one and a nice fair review :-) BTW that vent in the front bumper is for the aircon radiator. If you look at the RHS radiator in the engine bay you'll notice that it is in fact 2 x 1/2 size radiators - the bottom one being for the oil.
Great video man!! Ferrari have never made a bad car, the 348 offers a fantastic driving experience. They are really well balanced cars and they are a lot of fun to drive quickly, NEVER back off!! They handle really well, they have a very neutral feel. I run Michelin Pilot Super sports on mine, they compliment the car well. My fav part of the car is the steering, they have a better feel than the 355 in my experience, yes I have driven a couple of 355's.. I think the 348 enough power to get an incredible driving experience, the 355 feels quicker, but seriously, its not that much quicker.... I've owned my 1994 348GTB for 5 years, I did the engine out service on it shortly after I bought it, they are really easy cars to work on, took me 2.5hrs to remove the engine. Mine made 318bhp on the dyno. The gear shift is cable operated on the 348, they went back to as solid linkage on the 355. One other cool thing is the gas tank is right in the middle of the car so it doesn't change the balance of the car when the tank is full. Dry sump gives it a very low centre of gravity. 1992 they moved the battery to the front. 1992 they also went to a nippon denso electrical system yep ND alternator.... 1992 they also went to a single plate clutch from the rather heavy twin plate like yours has, the single plate is nice and light. 1992 also saw some change to the rear suspesnion geometry. somewhere along the line, maybe 1993? they changed from a Motronic 2.5 to 2.7. One tip, the spark plug heat range Ferrari specify is too cold for a road car, I run DR7EIX rather than the DR8EIX, way better!! 8's are too cold for normal driving or even pushing on public roads, fine for the track though.... Looking forward to some more 348 videos!!
@@kev-the-windsurfer. WOW, thank you for sharing your personal experiences as well as that fantastic information!! I very much appreciate it!!! Ive heard some of the 92 updates can be added onto earlier cars. I wonder if the single plate clutch can be retrofitted onto my car?
Funny and timely video here. I actually just traded my Imola red E46 M3 manual on this car and couldn’t be more happy. Congrats man - Nice to see another E34 Brother win. 348-355-360 Modena is like the Golden Era of Ferrari Nostalgia for me. I would love to own a Manual 360 some day.
Really enjoyed the thorough walkthrough. Not many guys cover all the little nerdy stuff like the sticker in the engine bay for the oil. Your enthusiasm shows though. Congrats on the 348!
As a previous Ferrari owner I love this car. I still think the Ferrari F136 engine found in the Maserati gran turismo has a little better sound, but its close. For all those people that rip this car apart they need to own it first before they do that because it's a spectacular car and it's now 35 years old so obviously it's not gonna compare to something like the Ferrari Pista. Now if you want a rip on a Ferrari I have had a couple that weren't that fun or performance friendly. The Dino was one of them. And yes some people say well the Dino Is technically a fiat but others will say no it's a true Ferrari so there's a whole debate on that car. But if we really want to choose the worst Ferrari ever made it is definitely not the 348! That would be the second Ferrari I ever owned known as the dreaded Mondial!!!! Great video, and spectacular classic Ferrari!
@@m3nameisjosh464 That's why I brought it up because anyone who thinks this is the worst Ferrari made is obviously forgetting about the dreaded Mondial! Great vidieo!
Congrats! My projects lean Ford, but prefer BMW daily’s. I picked up an F355 5 years ago. Really good cars, well made and not bad to work on. Oh yea, seats are great, ride is smooth; all day comfort.
I had a mint 348 . 92 model . It was like a Toyota. Reliable and perfect . It was sadly also only as fast as an 1800 Toyota . What a shame . Sold it after a guy in a golf schooled me . Big mistake . I should have done the following 1. HC pistons 2. Ported inlets gas flowed the head 3. MOST NB , had new taller Crown wheel and pinion cut to give longer legs on Motor way for happier 100 mph + cruise . 348 has big potential and is utterly gorgeous . Miss her so much
When I was a kid the 348 was overshadowed by the 512tr and the f355. I remember seeing the 348s on the road and feeling “disappointed”, lol By the time I hit my 20s I really started to appreciate the way the 348s looked. Now I absolutely love the way they look and, as I own a Miata, also appreciate the “driving experience” aspect more than the numbers aspect. Congrats! I’d be thrilled to own one of those myself!
@@m3nameisjosh464 Haha, it's so true though. People get way too hung up on 1/4mi times / "street cred" and all that. It's all about the experience and the way the car feels/makes you feel.

Nice find! Definitely makes sense to get one that someone spent money on maintenance along the way. I think that person in the Fiata was excited he dusted you at the light lol.
Very nice example, spec'd exactly like mine was when I got it 7 year ago. Now I've shaved off 100kg with carbon etc, in the process adding more power, 360hp hopefully 😅
That sounds awesome!!! Greetings fellow 348 enjoyer😉, theres a 348 race engine with ITBS, slide throttles making 460hp semi locally for sale, tempting hahah
This is my first time watching your video and I have to say your 348 review is well researched and you articulate everything about this car very elegantly. Though, my ultimate Ferrari is F355, but if I can get my hands on a 348, I'd probably hold on and drive it for a long time. Thanks again for a great analysis of this video content!
I agree that it looks better than the 355- sharper and more aggressive. Apparently the later models, spider/gtb/gts are better balanced and more forgiving.
My dad's best friend came from the bmw world with the car he has now (z3) and now he has a 348 ts and a 430 spider. Also I'm his kind of mechanic and we had some surprise with the light the cluster. Sometimes people remove the light when they don't want to see something expensive, so check your light in the dash
Good for you brother!! I've like the 348's (well all classic Fcars) for a long time. I'm way older than you and my childhood dream car was a Ferrari 308 GTS like what I watched on Magnum P.I. I finally bought one a few years ago but only had it for a year.. It was a Restomod with more power than stock (300whp) and was a blast but there was some money to be made on it, so I sold it on BAT (vids on my channel). I've been wanting another classic Ferrari ever since. Too bad I didn't get a 348 back when they were cheaper for sure. I still love the 308 body style as my favorite of all time, so the 328GTS might be my next, but the 348TS is a very possible option. Good on you for not listening to the nay sayers. It might not be the perfect Ferrari but still has so much going for it. Enjoy!!
Hey Josh, 1st time viewing... Don't care about what others think.. just enjoy the drive and thank Jesus for it ❤ God bless from one driver to another 🙏
Nice video. It’s clear that anyone who bashes the 348 either hasn’t driven one on the open road, or are not true driving enthusiasts. They only chase statistics. I have fun driving mine at 45 as much as I do 145. Driving it is an actual event, and there’s no telling how many times people have sprained their necks or dropped their phones trying to get a snap when I meet them on the road. It gets so much attention that I almost dread fueling up because it takes forever to get away for all the “can I take a picture?” comments 😀
yeah they are gems forsure, i been planning to get one for a couple years now but still broke lol, seems like one of the most personal workable/customizable ferarri to own for decent price.
Fun fact, the Porsche 928 and 944 have that same style handbrake that's between the seat and the door. It was a very 80's trend. I love the Ferrari 348 personally, even more so than the 355 or later cars. I think they have plenty of power for the size and weight of the car, and the fact that they're all manuals is a huge plus in my book, whereas once you start looking at 355's and 360's they're seemingly all the (awful) F1 gearbox.
@@markwalton8644 We got manuals in the US, but Americans being lazy, there were far too many ordered with the dreadful F1 system. Same as how so many E46 M3's and E60 M5's were optioned with an SMG rather than the proper manual.
@@DannysGarage Same happened here in the UK. I think the Buyers were more Collectors than Drivers Although I think that's come round to bite them as Manuals go for more money as they are rarer🤦
Glad that you got your dream car. Everyone has one. I will lobe me a Porsche 930. The first turbo from the 911 line up. That is my dream car. Nice buy Josh.
Ferrari driving is all about the experience never about speed unless you want to spend $250,000 plus then you get speed. Even Porsches during that time period didn’t have great horsepower but the experience is unforgettable. And that is what driving is all about.
The single intake in the front valance is for the air conditioning system - Not for an oil radiator ......The engine cover slats are aluminium (aluminum) - Not plastic ......The 348 is like the 328 that preceded it - It's not a torque monster engine with loads of low end shove, they feel like they're doing nothing - And then you look at the speedometer and realise that you're doing 80mph! .....To get the best out of a 348 you have to learn how to drive it - You can't just jump in it and drive it at the limit......You need to avoid hard braking/hard acceleration mid corner - It will unsettle the car and cause the rear end to come round pretty fast .....Instead, you need to do your braking in a straight line, steer through the corner, and start accelerating just after the apex, when you're starting to straighten out after the corner ....I owned the 348 TS in Number 27's youtube video: "Is this the worst Ferrari ever made?" (Registration No. H311 EFB) for 3 years and absolutely loved it! 😍❤ ..... Today I own an '89 328 GTS, and love it justcas much as I did my 348 😍❤
Yeah, most people have absolutely no idea. They just go with what they have heard and make their decision. Too bad the 348 has developed this bad rep. The reality is that it's an awesome modern classic that's a hoot to drive. It's an old Ferrari. Maybe at the limits it isn't perfect and that it's contemporaries were superior in certain ways, but who the fuck cares 30 years later? Really. They look super cool, they sound awesome, gated shift, mid-engine, enough performance. Fuck it, it's awesome. 👍
Hey Josh, I just wanted to say this not trying to be picky but the Lamborghini Coutach I don’t think I spelled it correctly, but also had the weird e brake at least I’m pretty sure they did
I’ve owned 7 Ferraris including the magnificent F50, as well as dozens of other sports and exotic cars. The 348 is one of the best. In fact I’ve had mine since 1998. Quick, nimble, solid, super dependable, cheap to own and cheap to maintain. Don’t believe what you’ve read or heard. Buy one! They’re going up!
I bought a 348 ts 1992 in 2012 when they are cheap to buy,and honestly i never regret it,it’s not the most powerful ferrari, but it’s still a very fun car to drive.i still have the car and not considering selling it.
@@m3nameisjosh464 thank you! Have you had any issues with it this far? I found a 90 that I’m really interested in but terrified about having it turn into a money pit lol. I guess issue is maintenance bro, you have to remove the engine to change the timing belt every five years or after a certain number of miles. They say it is expensive that's why they don't like it. But just like you. I love that model bro
The Ferrari I always wanted eluded me. When they were £40,000 I couldn't quite afford to buy it. Now I definitely can't. The 512BB Berlinetta Boxer. Big flat 12, apparently a bit of a handful but who gives a shit? Look at it! Congats mate, you got there before me!
I think your assessment of why people crash mid-engine cars is wrong. It's not braking in a straight line. They crash it because when they give it full throttle and start to experience a loose rear end, they panic and jack on the brakes while counter-steering the slide. This upsets the car. Just left off the throttle.
You should charge for a tour of your garage, and to take people out on a Ferrari ride, you drive of course... could be a side job and fun... Ferrari and BMW experience... More videos for your channel too! The fact that people pay, should be by default safe clients... think about it! Just make sure no sharp objects in their back pockets that could damage the leather!
congratulations on your choice, a car that is hated, or little appreciated, only for the fact that to go fast you have to know it and really know how to drive, they are all good with buttons and straights, among other things you can make improvements authorized by Ferrari, the 348 is the first of the Ferrari Challenge, so you will find underbody diffuser exhausts, brakes, shock absorbers, dedicated rims that make it even faster and more fun to drive, among other things you can enroll it in the Ferrari Classic Club which, in addition to giving it an increasingly greater value over time you will be able to have discounts on many events organized by the company as well as discounts on maintenance and spare parts at authorized workshops 👍

I regularly drive an employers 1988 e24 M6, which is very enjoyable and meets expectations but I would prefer the same power in a a smaller package and sounds of the 348
@@geoffwalker1531 agreed! As a bmw guy, the M6 realistically is right there at the power level, but doesn’t have exotic sounds like a Ferrari
try Boxster/Cayman 718 for the same price and compare it in case of driving/steering)))
Noted!!!
Looks like you bought a good one and a nice fair review :-)
BTW that vent in the front bumper is for the aircon radiator. If you look at the RHS radiator in the engine bay you'll notice that it is in fact 2 x 1/2 size radiators - the bottom one being for the oil.
Ahh thank you!!! Still learning the car so I appreciate it
@@m3nameisjosh464 Your welcome - they are a fascinating car to own and work on :-)
Great video man!!
Mine is a 1990 with a few updates as well as capristo down pipes as well as tubi rear box. I love it . I have liked them since they debuted. All the reviews at the time except maybe Automobile magazine. Great review, mine will be along soon. Cheers !
No way!! How funny is that. And to think E46 M prices are now clashing with Ferrari prices is absolutely insane!
@@m3nameisjosh464 it really is insane. To be fair it was a “trade plus cash” thing but yeah. I used to have an E30 M3. Sold it when they went to the moon. I still have its competitor a Mercedes 190 2.3-16 which has appreciated much more slowly. Love the channel man. Glad to see it growing.

Thank you brotha!!!! Those years are the golden years for most cars!!
Really enjoyed the thorough walkthrough. Not many guys cover all the little nerdy stuff like the sticker in the engine bay for the oil. Your enthusiasm shows though. Congrats on the 348!
Thank you!!! Im glad my enthusiasm shows!!
348TS, one of my faves... in ferrari midnight blue with tan leather interior.
Thank you for all the awesome insights into Ferrari ownership!!! I have to say I am not in love with the Mondial thats for sure haha
@@m3nameisjosh464 That's why I brought it up because anyone who thinks this is the worst Ferrari made is obviously forgetting about the dreaded Mondial! Great vidieo!

I had a mint 348 . 92 model . It was like a Toyota. Reliable and perfect . It was sadly also only as fast as an 1800 Toyota . What a shame . Sold it after a guy in a golf schooled me . Big mistake . I should have done the following
1. HC pistons
2. Ported inlets gas flowed the head
3. MOST NB , had new taller Crown wheel and pinion cut to give longer legs on Motor way for happier 100 mph + cruise .
348 has big potential and is utterly gorgeous . Miss her so much
Happy to hear she was reliable!!! Such good cars!
When I was a kid the 348 was overshadowed by the 512tr and the f355. I remember seeing the 348s on the road and feeling “disappointed”, lol
By the time I hit my 20s I really started to appreciate the way the 348s looked. Now I absolutely love the way they look and, as I own a Miata, also appreciate the “driving experience” aspect more than the numbers aspect. Congrats! I’d be thrilled to own one of those myself!
@@Mr_Eyeholes love that you evolved as you got older to like them hahah. Shows it takes a real man to recognize the glory in the 348😉

@@PhotoMateKitt wow thank you for the comment!! I really appreciate that!!! I love this car, ill have to drive a 355 to compare!
I agree that it looks better than the 355- sharper and more aggressive. Apparently the later models, spider/gtb/gts are better balanced and more forgiving.

Thanks for the heads up!!
Enjoy!!

Interesting I didn’t know that! But well said, i agree these styling of a 348 is so much cooler to me
The 355 and 360 had a Manual Gearbox here in the UK. Did you not get them in the US?
@@markwalton8644 We got manuals in the US, but Americans being lazy, there were far too many ordered with the dreadful F1 system. Same as how so many E46 M3's and E60 M5's were optioned with an SMG rather than the proper manual.

I think your assessment of why people crash mid-engine cars is wrong. It's not braking in a straight line. They crash it because when they give it full throttle and start to experience a loose rear end, they panic and jack on the brakes while counter-steering the slide. This upsets the car. Just left off the throttle.
