Pretty amazing that the foundation of hip hop was started by young men/women and kids. I mean, for example, Rock Steady Crew were a bunch of teenagers and contributed huge to the development of hip hop. These guys all were true innovators. Today's rappers/producers need to pay their respect to the old school.

It's interesting you mention hip-hop outside of NYC in '82. Our pops passed a couple days after new years in '82 and so his/our family thought it would be a good idea to pitch in and fly us all from the south Bronx to east l.a. It was a different world! Our own family didn't know what to make of us. They were not hip-hop friendly. We went back in 86' and they loved us all of sudden.
Double Trouble was so musical, the lyrics were so clear! Takes me back to a good time, when hip hop was pure, we did it for the love of the art and the culture.

Since this iconic movie was out, we decided to check out “Rocky Horror Picture Show “ and “Wild Style” in downtown Boston…..both movies were playing at the same theater….Boston,at that time, kind of hood-like, so a lot of poor white kids a came to see RHPS, and the poor black kids came to watch WS( it was obvious by the crowd)……. RHPS was shown only at midnight, so we saw that last……very weird stuff, and at 20 years old, being from NYC, I have seen worse….cool movie!! When he got to see WS, he was the only white guy in the theater!!! From start to finish, his eyes was glued to the screen, and was in shock on how New York City was in the late 70’s, early 80’s…….he asked hundreds of questions……I sincerely believe that after seeing WS, he was a different person……some movies have an impact on a person’s life: for my friend from Nebraska, he thought differently about what he thought about black culture, hip-hop and our NYC way of life……….for me, IT WAS ABOUT BEING PROUD OF BEING FROM NEW YORK CITY!!!!! I was in the Navy back then….I was stationed in Boston; this white dude on my ship( this dude is from Nebraska, like for real), who really wasn’t around black people growing up, ask me about learning about black culture……perfect timing!! Since this iconic movie was out, we decided to check out “Rocky Horror Picture Show “ and “Wild Style” in downtown Boston…..both movies were playing at the same theater….Boston,at that time, kind of hood-like, so a lot of poor white kids a came to see RHPS, and the poor black kids came to watch WS( it was obvious by the crowd)……. RHPS was shown only at midnight, so we saw that last……very weird stuff, and at 20 years old, being from NYC, I have seen worse….cool movie!! When he got to see WS, he was the only white guy in the theater!!! From start to finish, his eyes was glued to the screen, and was in shock on how New York City was in the late 70’s, early 80’s…….he asked hundreds of questions……I sincerely believe that after seeing WS, he was a different person……some movies have an impact on a person’s life: for my friend from Nebraska, he thought differently about what he thought about black culture, hip-hop and our NYC way of life……….for me, IT WAS ABOUT BEING PROUD OF BEING FROM NEW YORK CITY!!!!! That is my story and I am sticking to it……..
