This is a good video, and I subscribed to your channel. My only advice would be to maybe give a short description of what a reference layer even is at the very start of the video.
Wow, now I‘m wondering if PS has this too or if I‘ve been colouring in the wrong way until now XD (I‘ve been using masks, but this is like so much faster with the reference layer)
@@Mink-tDR true :/ But I just tried it out and procreate has a similar thing, although CSP seems to have more options (which isn't that surprising I guess XD)
Hello there and thank you for these videos they’re very helpful! I was wondering though if you could tell me why when I select the “Do not cross lines of reference layer” option on my brush it doesn’t work. I’m trying to figure out how I can like draw underneath hair for the eyebrows. The do not cross lines option works great when coloring but i can’t figure out how to make it work while still working on lines using the same brush or pen. Is this possible?
Glad you like my video! Hmm, if you set the line layer as reference layer, turned the "Do not cross..." option on for your brush, and work on a different layer, then usually it should work. Perhaps check the brush settings, the "Sub Tool Details". There you you find the extra settings under "Anti-overflow". If the Tolerance is too low, then it might also draw over the lines. Hope this helps you~
The gradient tool unfortunately doesn't have any settings that are related to reference layers, as far as I am aware. If you want to create a gradient only for a specific area, you'd need to combine them with other tools and methods, like the auto-select tool.
Hiii!Could you help me with something? i was drawing and for no reason , the layers was separeted but they work togheter (weird sorry lol) EXAMPLE: i drew a person and its already colored , and i was going to erase smth in the color layer , but erased the same part in all the others layers too! what can i do to fix it??
I was searching for such a long time and every step other creators showing failed to mention the selection process. Thank you. Subed.

As far as I know, no. I only ever saw that feature in CSP.
PS is after all mainly made for photo editing, while CSP is made for drawing.

1:54 will gradients work with reference layer similarly to fill? I'm having trouble finding it in gradient sub-tool settings.

Sorry, I am not familiar with that bug.
I'm also not the tech support of Clip Studio. You might have better luck if you ask them
@@Mink-tDR I was using multiple layer eraser accidentally!but thanks!
@@stariity Glad that you were able to figure it out!
I don't understand what an editing layer is
The layer you have selected.
I explained that right after I mentioned editing layers early in the video.
