Truth! Always on pitch (even a capella) and in character for the sake of the meaning & emotion of the song. I could tell he was making that breathy part intentionally for effect... Then he repeated it at the end. Such artistry and devotion to his craft! ❤️
Adam Lambert just proved he knows what the lyrics mean in a song. He was visceral in that delivery. This is a Master's Class in song performance. Well done!
So true. My 80 y/o mom said "he has obviously been thru things in his life by the way he sings" when I played this for her. She recognized the emotion! Incredible

They all work around and see great talent every day and yet everyone was glued to Adam and his performance. Fun fact: Adam and Alisan Porter had the same voice coach, her blind audition blew the judges away, there are many technically sound trained vocalists, but to be gifted like this dude, not so many
I’ve watched this video so many times and it’s just incredible, Adam really took the lyrics on and portrayed them exactly how Cher meant them beyond the pop ballad it is. Just watch the look on Reba McEntire’s face and it tells you everything, the queen of country listening so intensely to the story he’s telling. Adam commanded that room and showed Cher that not only he respected her music but her artistry
After this rendition, I can’t believe I heard every single word like it was the first time, and understood the true meaning of the song! This is an Anthem for starting over!!! wowwwww

What a shame Adam is so underrated. He's in a class where only a few can stand. Outstanding performance!
people who actually appreciate and know what great vocals are know him, he’s undoubtedly one of the best male vocalists out there
Yes OUTSTANDING! I've got chills!
Adam Lambert is the best! He has a beautiful and powerful voice and he can sing any musical style!!!!!
I dont understand why people say he is underrated.. He is recognised all over as an outstanding talent... Adam Lambert is world class and the entertainment industry knows it...
Is he underrated? Not to me. This performance is spectacular
Here in November 2024. This beautiful piece by Adam Lambert was extremely meaningful and powerful for me in 2017/18.
The beauty of this performance, in my opinion, is that Adam sang this directly to Cher. There were no other people. We were all just lucky bystanders who got to witness his love letter to her. Brilliant.
Well said!!
Her reaction really choked me up ☺️ Just beautiful
James Thweatt. not really. This was a concert
Exactly.. i can sing . But i ddnt dare do it in front of Cher
@@cathyjohnson9043 Nope. It was an award show for those in the performing arts for their lifetime of contributions to American culture. Cher was one of the awardees.
it’s so ridiculous to me how underrated he is. he’s a much, much better singer than most of the popular artists nowadays
It might be because of his MOUTH. He has no filter..
Totally agree

The idea gets me excited &👏🥰😊.
It should've happened by now.
I honestly lost count on how many times I’ve listened to this and it gives me chills EVERY TIME! Imagine Cher and Adam doing a duet…. 😭
This is Adam Lambert at his best. When he reaches and pulls that earpiece out, you know shit's about to get real and raw! Go Lambert, you made Cher cry, in a good way. You are the g o a t.

The best
Pure and rare talent= Adam Lambert.
"You know when he pulls that earpiece out shots about to get real and raw!" YES!!!!! I absolutely am in awe of his talent.
Adam Lambert absolutely deserved that standing O. Even Cher was impressed after hitting that note. Amazing.

Adam sang that with such deep feelings that it was impossible not to feel the words of that song and no doubt Cher had to think of Sonny...her first love and song writer, music director partner in their music business.. Great Job Adam!

Came here searching for this performance after hearing Cher mention it on The Howard Stern show. I LOVE IT! Bravo Adam, such a hard song to make your own. ❤
The control he has using his voice is incredible. Every note is on point, the way he can belt the high notes and then pull it back to soft breathy tones. So talented!
I fell in love with this young man on American idol when I first heard his voice he had the baddest voice that ever been on American idol and I'm always being a fan of his no matter what
He is unbelievable
Truth! Always on pitch (even a capella) and in character for the sake of the meaning & emotion of the song. I could tell he was making that breathy part intentionally for effect... Then he repeated it at the end. Such artistry and devotion to his craft! ❤️
Adam is a star rated vocalist. Definitely in the upper tier of the best male vocalists.

So true. My 80 y/o mom said "he has obviously been thru things in his life by the way he sings" when I played this for her. She recognized the emotion! Incredible
Yes. He really does.
Amazing that’s the ultimate of Adam
Lambert !
What was the device that was in his ear and why do you think he ripped it out? If it’s supposed to help him with the music or the words why bother wearing it when he doesn’t want to or it is distracting him?
This is the most amazing cover of this song I’ve ever heard! It’s not even a cover. It’s a whole new rendition and I love it. Adam is such an underrated singer!

Ps and the final notes bring tears to my eyes. Oh wow this old lady (79) just loves Adam Lambert
He really honored her. Her entirety. And she felt it. The whole audience and we did too. Making an artist’s song your own is a very high level of flattery
The person that was able to turn the peppy dance song of Cher into the slow, beautiful song in this video is an absolute genius
Ella Henderson did it 10 years ago
I can't get over the fact that he sang "I don't need you anymore" four times completely different. With more conviction every time he repeated it. This man is just amazing🤯

To see Cher herself shed a tear at how beautiful this was. That is probably the best compliment in the world. This was fantastic.

This is absolutely phenomenal. I'm literally speechless. As a pianist.....the majority of my work over the decades has been writing arrangements of cover tunes.....basically turning popular songs into piano solos. I have NEVER seen anyone interpret a song this well in my life! While I have never particularly been a fan of Adam Lambert.....I had a lot of respect for him for the work he'd done with Queen. But I never expected something like this from him. This is musical and vocal perfection. I've never seen anything quite like it. Hats off and mad respect for Adam and thank you for this gem of a performance.

That lefty b..... is no legend
For all the struggles she has been through, she deserved that performance to be flawless and it was... Amazing
It truly says something when your able to move Cher to the point of tears with a stripped down version of one of her biggest hits. Not to mention the fact she was amazed by his final high note enough to say wow & quickly rose to her feet once he was done. We truly got to witness something magical right here.

When an artist sings a song, they make a choice.
Every time.
They can choose to use the song to showcase their talent, or they can use their talent to showcase the song.
Adam Lambert chose to use his talent to showcase this song.

Now i have to watch and check on which part he removed his earpiece
He didn’t have that side in to begin with. You can see how far out it sticks compared to the other side that sits almost flush inside his ear. I have a set of those. They are molded to your ear and do not come out that easily. But yes, that was awesome
yes ! Adam "I don't need you anymore "
