The albino hoplos are lovely. I didn’t have my new 100g tank cycled in time to get the spotted hoplo. My tank is mostly all stocked but will get a few albino hoplos. They remind me of porthole catfish which are very entertaining fish.
When you said those mollies were expensive, you weren't kidding! Really incredible tour, your job rocks.

Looking forward to ordering fish for my in planning stage 15g Sonoran Desert river biotope from you…as the native fish are too big, not available or endangered/extinct (seems like that’s a theme now) getting rasboras and a dwarf goby. If that goes well, hubby wants a big tank in the living room…more of a forest style, I’m thinking, and Blackwater.

Those Cauliflower Swordtails are stunning. I have a small group of RERs myself and am praying for a later maturing male - I got them young and chose not to get the early maturing males as I wanted large bodied breeders, but now I'm kicking myself as they're nearly 6 months old and none have clearly sexed out to be male yet.

I'm a hobby breeder of swordtails. I'm hoping my RER couple will breed soon🤞. Question: Isn't it better if the males get their swords later on so they'll be larger???
@@kellycasperhanson4426 If you want the largest fish, later maturing males are a good thing, yeah. In my case, the risk is that they might be all females. Big males are better than small males, but small males are better than no males at all!

Awesome fish! I gotten a albino red Hifin broccoli/cauliflower female from you and have a small colony of swordtails, both hifin and Hifin broccoli/cauliflower. I know they will throw some short fin/ low fin babies. Will these babies short fin / low fin babies have the broccoli/ cauliflower gene? I am keeping the short fin/ low fin females to help carry on some babies with some hifin broccoli / cauliflower gene. Lovely fish room dan! I can’t wait to have my own working fish room in the future

If you don't mind my asking and happen to see this comment, what is the black looks like silk plant tied around the pipe in the female betta sorority tank? It looks really pretty and nice and big. I'm on a continuous hunt for anything i can DIY or buy to create Halloween/goth aesthetic tanks for my Halloween lifestyle. (Everything in shops is pirate ships or skulls; I have plenty skulls to coat w plastic dip.)
That is plastic cut into strips from a black trash bag...just make sure the bag isn't scented or anti-odor or anything. You just want the plastic, not extra chemicals.
@@DansFish thanks for your reply! And yes, always conscious of anything i can't boil goin in my tanks, including my hands and arms, especially during spf lotion and dry skin lotion seasons. No bug spray, or body spray or anything chemical. I appreciate the reminder though as finding anything that is not altered can be hard. I've also gotten into making spawning mops with acrylic yarn for some pops of spooky colors, while at the same time revamping tanks for "natural looks"

How do people maintain the gene pool for live bearer strain? What do these use to outcross these guys?
Question about the high fin swordtails, would they be a crossbreed of a Vienna Broccoli with a Tuxedo swordtail?
I was wondering if I bred a Vienna Broccoli with some Tri colours if it would be plausible to get Tricolour Broccolis?
I know the 50/50 rule of if you breed a normal and a broccoli, but to introduce colour?

Nice to hear from you. They must have been crossed to Tuxedo swords at some point in the past in order to introduce that color. I have bred and raised a couple of batches of RER Broccoli High Fin Swords in the past, but I've never tried crossing them to other varieties. It must be possible, however, or we would not be getting these colors in the broccoli forms.

I have a tri-colo(u)r male that is a "albino" as it has Red eyes and my LFS has 2 females available if their website is correct about the stocking.
Now I feel some definite urgency to get them. 😅
