I like Max as a person. He DOES take a turn into rude territory at times, but it's only because he's extremely passionate. Someone just needs to make him take notice when he's being rude (like in this video), and he'll understand without hesitation.

I love this episode. Everyone was smart and funny. Kirkman was funnier here than even he was on @midnight. I love Max Landis's passion. I'll watch anytime he is on. Also, Marc Bernardin would rock at Movie Fights!
I think it is silly to eliminate someone just because they say they agree with someone else on certain points. It is actually a legit argument strategy. By pointing out what you agree with, you sound more reasonable; and when you say what you don't agree with, you sound more convincing. It always annoys me when Andy eliminates someone just because they concede on a small point. That's no reason to discredit their entire argument.

Andy also often says it's about the 'passion', which really just creates an environment where the optimal strategy is to deny absolutely everything your opponent says as loudly and vehemently as possible. Although ultimately we all know Andy just hands the point based on everything *other* than the arguments. Like how guest stars have a hugely disproportional win rate, how he massively favors Alicia Malone whenever she's on, and how he went noticeably softer on Landis during this fight because they don't want to brush him off so soon after Landis declared last time he would never return to the show. Or how the points are nearly always tied 1-1-1 by round four. And so on.

if they did real muzzle flashes at close range you could a) kill the person b) serious injury them. as much as i agree the CG flashes didn't hold up as well watching it again. the other aspects of the movie made up for it.
what I hate is that awhile ago he talked about the life struggles of the poor for a movie pitch and I thought was "you know nothing of their struggles you've lived an easy entitled life because of your father"

Your argument isn't exactly valid. The movie Kirkman picked was the third film in the George A. Romero zombie franchise. Excluding that it was Romero's third zombie movie, there are several films before Romero's featuring zombies. Hence not pioneering the genre. Also, I highly recommend Day of the Dead if you've never seen it! :D
I would be happy if they just killed the "That's not ACTUALLY a _______ movie, it's just a movie with _______" argument. It's just not fun to watch them play semantics instead of actually talking about the cool things about their movies, imo at least.
Best movie to add zombies...Titanic. Just imagine Jack and Rose making love all the while the person in charge of steering the boat gets attacked by his fellow worker who just turned into a zombie! That's what causes them to hit the iceberg! So not only will the ship be sinking in a matter of hours but also zombies will be multiplying, biting more and more unsuspecting victims as time grows closer to the sinking of the iconic ship. Imagine how much more intense it would be between people fighting to get on the escape boats. Not only will Jack and Rose try to survive the fall of the Titanic, but they will also have to survive the zombies.
A "zombie" is a fictional thing and, imo, can't have a true definition because of it. To understand what I mean, think about vampires. The very first vampire in fiction was not Dracula but they shared many similarities. Dracula is considered the definitive "vampire" in pop culture yet there have been many variations on vampires that are very different from Dracula (see Legacy of Kain or Twilight) but do share some similarities and are accepted as vampires by fans of that particular fiction. That there are disagreements about what makes a vampire a vampire (or in this case a zombie a zombie) doesn't change anything really. There are some differences, sure but there are also important similarities. Just like how all vampires drink blood (while any particular set of fictional descriptions on what kind of blood, how much they need, or the affects of it vary) all zombies share similar traits. They are generally mindless, attack any and everyone that's not also a "zombie", and can create new zombies through bites. All of those things fit the 28 Days Later lore. I'm not saying these are definitive, as I would be negating my own point if I did, but these are similarities that almost every zombie fiction seems to share and IMO, that makes 28 Days/Weeks creatures zombies.
How can anyone dislike Max??? He is the most captivating speaker, very passionate and genuinely interested in writing and storytelling. Incredibly sweet... I can go on about him all day. It blows my mind that ANYone dislikes him..
The quality of the fights were horrible. Please bring back some good fighters instead of these "celebrity" guests who just don't give a shit. Landis is fine, but he needs real fighters to go up against, like Dan, Alicia and Spencer.
I dont even like him but he was the best in this. I like kirkman but he was here thinking it was promotion for the walking dead. But not all celebrity fighters phone it in. Kevin smith was great.
Seth Rogen and Kevin Smith were some of the best fighters they've ever had. JUST REMEMBERED! Doug Benson and Elijah Wood are pretty awesome fighters too!

This was one of my favorite movie fights ever. It shows the good connections between Max, Robert and David in this episode and I like how they both bully him while pitching
I already liked Max Landis because of Dirk Gently, but now I frickin love him. I'm totally sold on both the Homeward Bound zombie remake AND the Captain Planet pitch.
I feel like when Alan Moore has come out and said he doesn’t like the movie because it neutered his book, you can’t fully get behind that statement. It’s a good movie, but not a great adaptation of the book. I mean, it’s not like he doesn’t have the ability to say he’s wrong. He’s said many times The Killing Joke was “a mistake he will always regret.”
Why do people always say, my movie is better because it built the framework for your movies? The Model T Ford built the framework that allowed the Bugatti Veyron to exist No one is saying the Model T is better!
Taking someone's idea, changing 5% of it, and then doing the rest badly is not at all the same thing as improvements in vehicle technology. Plus if you take into account the nebulous "feelings" people have driving the two cars, i'd be willing to bet some people *would* rate the Model T higher than "generic pointy car b-32432". And nebulous "feelings" frantically justified by trying to sound smart *is* how movies are rated.
Definitely up there. I gotta go with Watchmen though simply for the level of ambition it took to try and adapt it. Both are great films and the source material is even better but I gotta give Watchmen a bit of an edge.
Does Andy know anything about argument analysis??? Choosing a winner based on "conceding" and "You even said so yourself...?" Seriously, a GOOD argument has to have some concession to the opposing argument. It makes your own argument more credible! Can we seriously get a better judge?
It made my day when David argued The Usual Suspects and it won. I swore when the question came up that if they didn't mention this movie, I'd be done with Movie Fights forever. The Usual Suspects is my favorite movie hands down, that twist blew me away the first time and I still re-watch it all the time.

The audience is privy to this before Jackman is, I think that's why its not the perfect twist.

Your argument isn't exactly valid. The movie Kirkman picked was the third film in the George A. Romero zombie franchise. Excluding that it was Romero's third zombie movie, there are several films before Romero's featuring zombies. Hence not pioneering the genre. Also, I highly recommend Day of the Dead if you've never seen it! :D
I would be happy if they just killed the "That's not ACTUALLY a _______ movie, it's just a movie with _______" argument. It's just not fun to watch them play semantics instead of actually talking about the cool things about their movies, imo at least.
Best movie to add zombies...Titanic.
Just imagine Jack and Rose making love all the while the person in charge of steering the boat gets attacked by his fellow worker who just turned into a zombie! That's what causes them to hit the iceberg! So not only will the ship be sinking in a matter of hours but also zombies will be multiplying, biting more and more unsuspecting victims as time grows closer to the sinking of the iconic ship. Imagine how much more intense it would be between people fighting to get on the escape boats. Not only will Jack and Rose try to survive the fall of the Titanic, but they will also have to survive the zombies.
On Round 5 the answer is V for Vendetta.

How is 28 Days Later controversial? Among fans of those types of movies, I think it's generally considered one of the better zombie movies.

It's controversial in the way that's it's questionable whether infected from the movie could actually be considered zombies.
A "zombie" is a fictional thing and, imo, can't have a true definition because of it. To understand what I mean, think about vampires. The very first vampire in fiction was not Dracula but they shared many similarities. Dracula is considered the definitive "vampire" in pop culture yet there have been many variations on vampires that are very different from Dracula (see Legacy of Kain or Twilight) but do share some similarities and are accepted as vampires by fans of that particular fiction. That there are disagreements about what makes a vampire a vampire (or in this case a zombie a zombie) doesn't change anything really. There are some differences, sure but there are also important similarities. Just like how all vampires drink blood (while any particular set of fictional descriptions on what kind of blood, how much they need, or the affects of it vary) all zombies share similar traits. They are generally mindless, attack any and everyone that's not also a "zombie", and can create new zombies through bites. All of those things fit the 28 Days Later lore. I'm not saying these are definitive, as I would be negating my own point if I did, but these are similarities that almost every zombie fiction seems to share and IMO, that makes 28 Days/Weeks creatures zombies.

How can anyone dislike Max??? He is the most captivating speaker, very passionate and genuinely interested in writing and storytelling. Incredibly sweet... I can go on about him all day. It blows my mind that ANYone dislikes him..
The quality of the fights were horrible. Please bring back some good fighters instead of these "celebrity" guests who just don't give a shit. Landis is fine, but he needs real fighters to go up against, like Dan, Alicia and Spencer.

I dont even like him but he was the best in this. I like kirkman but he was here thinking it was promotion for the walking dead. But not all celebrity fighters phone it in. Kevin smith was great.
I think we need more of a variety of fighters that good, using the same old good fighters over and over again gets stale.
Seth Rogen and Kevin Smith were some of the best fighters they've ever had. JUST REMEMBERED! Doug Benson and Elijah Wood are pretty awesome fighters too!

I feel like when Alan Moore has come out and said he doesn’t like the movie because it neutered his book, you can’t fully get behind that statement. It’s a good movie, but not a great adaptation of the book. I mean, it’s not like he doesn’t have the ability to say he’s wrong. He’s said many times The Killing Joke was “a mistake he will always regret.”

Taking someone's idea, changing 5% of it, and then doing the rest badly is not at all the same thing as improvements in vehicle technology. Plus if you take into account the nebulous "feelings" people have driving the two cars, i'd be willing to bet some people *would* rate the Model T higher than "generic pointy car b-32432". And nebulous "feelings" frantically justified by trying to sound smart *is* how movies are rated.

Definitely up there. I gotta go with Watchmen though simply for the level of ambition it took to try and adapt it. Both are great films and the source material is even better but I gotta give Watchmen a bit of an edge.

It made my day when David argued The Usual Suspects and it won. I swore when the question came up that if they didn't mention this movie, I'd be done with Movie Fights forever. The Usual Suspects is my favorite movie hands down, that twist blew me away the first time and I still re-watch it all the time.
