Preset K was released in new dll on Jan 30, 2025. Preset K is updated version of J. This preset is available in version 310.2 or above, dll can be downloaded from techpowerup site. Preset J while improving on lot of things over old CNN model, does has some new artifacts too, however it seems Nvidia has already fixed some of them with K. Twinkling in foliage in Final Fantasy is mostly reduced and artifacts with Alan Wake 2 with moving water behind fence has also been reduced significantly. Silent Hill 2 test this time I ran out of the box version, removing all tweaks that turn off vignette, chromatic aberration etc. The noise around head was less severe with this but still exists and seems to be same for both J and K. so same performance but better quality/less shimmering and ghosting, i guess that makes sense since its K is just an update to J rather than a brand new version like dlss 3 vs 4
I tested today chivalry 2(its an EAC online game theres no ban btw) with new nvidia dlss 4 override feature with both preset j and k modes, preset j got shutters and has lots of ghosting issues it was worse than dlss 2 and later i tested k version in dlss performance mode it literally became dlss quality mode with better fps and resolution, i recommend to use newest preset first(which is k for now) later try other presets
You should be in the same league with MxBenchmark and Digital Foundry when it comes to DLSS testing IMO. Hardware Unboxed is overrated and you are criminally underrated.
Hardware unboxed has good overarching analysis (like their DLSS vs FSR analysis), but their day 1 takes are literally "graph go br" and I don't really trust them when it comes to ray tracing since their ray tracing video claimed "no change" in quite a few tittles that I see significant changes (sometimes even in their own footage). I don't know if I would call them "overrated", but their audience is definitely reeks of the "they got 30% uplift with 40 games vs DF which got 29% with 10 games so they're better" their overall approach motivates instead of any sort of holistic take when it comes to these cards.
Can u make a video showing how to upgrade from j model to k model ? I used the inspector method to mod the j model and using it with my rtx 3050 and its good ! But seeing you test the new K model make me wanna upgrade to it

Nice video. Im late to the story in alan wake and in a flooded area when using K preset i would get strobing lights coming out of objects or foliage. Going back to the default dlss of the now updated game, these lights disappeared
So I am guessing it only works with games that support frame generation ? Cause I tried using the Nvidia App with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and it says that it's Unsupported ?
Hello 👋🙂 Do you have the opportunity to make a comparison using the example of Rdr 2 with the new Dlcc 4 Transformer vs Native model? Now there is already nvidia app, but as some user say, this application does not always set presets in a specific one. One user told me that in Rdr 2 + Dllc 4 + Nvidia app, Dlaa is set and for some reason ultra-quality appears. I wonder which is better and more correct manually via Dlss tweaker or via Nvidia app. In general, a video with an example of how to use Nvidia agp would be more useful and interesting than ever to take a look at the user guide. Thank you in advance.
I think for the end user it is best to continue using the manual method and NPI dlsstweaks for the time being. App is new and buggy, with time it will get better. If using app you can also use dlsstweaks to enable hud in its global settings and see if all is working correctly, if yes then you can turn it off. I think nvidia should add hud option in their app too like we get performance numbers by pressing alt R
@S2GamesBench And what is the Alt+R combination? Under what conditions does it work when you specify a Hud-related option in the dlls tweaker? This is the first time I've heard of it, please explain.
@Rostovgenchik no alt r enables performance metrics, you can try it, it will show you fps, gpu temp clock speed etc I was wondering if they could add dlss hud to that then it will make things easier
@ Oh, I get it, does the alt + r combination work when you have new drivers installed and the nvidia app is running? Do I understand correctly that Nvidia app comes with the new drivers, or can it be installed separately? By the way, have you tested the new drivers?
@Rostovgenchik I checked few scenes and performance was same with new drivers. Alt R you can press anytime and performance overlay will show up even when games are not running.
Are you sure for some of these that you were actually using the correct presets? There's a registry edit that will show you which preset you have when you open the game.
hey so I placed dlss tweaks next to exe file of spidey 2 and also pasted the latest DLL file and set preset to K for DLAA but yet I dont see the dlss tweaks log generated do I have to manually override the DLL file in the tweaks config??

Could you possibly do some testing for J vs K for DLAA? (might produce some different results compared to Performance and Quality) I keep hearing that K is superior, but to my eyes K looks too blurry/introduces some artifacts in face textures, etc. when playing at 1440p DLAA.
Option 1 - Use Nvidia app. Option 2 - Grab the new dll 310.2.1.0 from techpowerup - www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/ and overwrite the old ones in your game files Then either use *latest* version of dlsstweaks or *latest* version of NPI to change preset to K

@@tomtomkowski7653 those are quality modes, you can change them in game settings to decide what resolution game runs at. @@tomtomkowski7653 They don't need to be that confusing. If you set it to "latest" on your nvidia app, you will get the best version. Older versions are maintained for backwards compatibility and comparison reasons, but you don't need to interact with them at all.
These are my presets... Neither of those are included lol Preset A: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes. Preset B: Intended for Ultra Performance mode. Preset C: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes. Preset D: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes. Preset E: The now-default preset for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes. Preset F: The now-default preset for Ultra Performance and DLAA modes.
Currently not that simple, while transformers have improved over CNN but there are still some issues like in Spiderman 2 you see ghosting with both J and K while E doesn't have it, however image stability is better with K In Indiana Jones E has ghosting while J doesn't So it depends on game what to use.
I tried the dlss preset k with the nvidia app override in multiple games, but for example, in marvel rivals, dlss 4 introduces tearing (don't know why) and judder, the original game's dlss does not show the same issues. I know tearing is not linked to dlss but it only happens when i use the override option. (and things on camera does not seem to moove smoothly even though frame time is flat and fps are in gsync range)
Ks an improvement over J but still not good with ray tracing 😢 I tried K with the Witcher 3 and the foliage was too fuzzy and could see artifacts around geralts head, I ended up using E preset which is 3.8 Quality by my understanding, big improvement over the original DLSS but would love it if they fixed dlss 4 with ray tracing enabled.

For NPI if you lack new xml file to make preset K appear in NPI, you can grab that from discord in dlss guides channel.
If using dlsstweaks then you can use the guide below to change preset to K.
How to use DLSS Tweaks mod to change preset
1. Go to www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/550?tab=files
2. Select Manual Download
3. After downloading, extract and you will find 6 files
4. Run EnableNvidiaSigOverride reg file and confirm (This step is only required once, you don't need to repeat this when modding new game)
5. Rename nvngx dll to winmm dll and then copy 3 files - winmm dll, dlsstweaks ini, DLSSTweaksConfig exe
6. Go to game folder and paste these files in same folder that has game exe files
7. Open DLSSTweaksConfig exe
8. Scroll down to 3rd section - DLSSPresets
9. Use pull down menu to change default to preset K. Do it for every quality level you intend to use and hit save at top
That is it, all done
Game should be closed when you change values
If mod worked you will see dlsstweaks log file in same folder where you copied these files (after you play the game at least once)
You can also run DisableNvidiaSigOverride to reverse the effects of step 4 if you don't want to use the mod anymore.

Excellent comparison
thank you
Please do motion clarity test as well. J is 100% better in motion than K.

@@S2GamesBench You are a godsent thank you so much.
so same performance but better quality/less shimmering and ghosting, i guess that makes sense since its K is just an update to J rather than a brand new version like dlss 3 vs 4
Best channel in the world
😁 thank you
Nice comparison 🎉
Thanks 🙂
I tested today chivalry 2(its an EAC online game theres no ban btw) with new nvidia dlss 4 override feature with both preset j and k modes, preset j got shutters and has lots of ghosting issues it was worse than dlss 2 and later i tested k version in dlss performance mode it literally became dlss quality mode with better fps and resolution, i recommend to use newest preset first(which is k for now) later try other presets
nice ! I looking for this video all night (sry bad eg

You should be in the same league with MxBenchmark and Digital Foundry when it comes to DLSS testing IMO. Hardware Unboxed is overrated and you are criminally underrated.
@@msnehamukherjee wow, thank you
Hardware unboxed has good overarching analysis (like their DLSS vs FSR analysis), but their day 1 takes are literally "graph go br" and I don't really trust them when it comes to ray tracing since their ray tracing video claimed "no change" in quite a few tittles that I see significant changes (sometimes even in their own footage).
I don't know if I would call them "overrated", but their audience is definitely reeks of the "they got 30% uplift with 40 games vs DF which got 29% with 10 games so they're better" their overall approach motivates instead of any sort of holistic take when it comes to these cards.
Nice!👍
Wow and I thought preset j was good k is even better nice!
Best profile J 💚...
Can u make a video showing how to upgrade from j model to k model ?
I used the inspector method to mod the j model and using it with my rtx 3050 and its good ! But seeing you test the new K model make me wanna upgrade to it
you just need new xml file for your inspector app
once you paste new xml file, K will appear in the list
grab this new xml from my discord
ohh and make sure dll 310.2 or higher in use, grab this from techpowerup site
@S2GamesBench Okay ! Thks u so much 😁👌
I NOTICE THAT DLAA IN PRESET J IS BETTER THAN K because i noticed that dlaa in preset k make the scene in far areas looks little bit blurry like the old modul did but preset j is making it sharp
good comparison, did you activate dlss 4 in the nvidia app or with the nvidia profile inspector to preset k?
@@cesarjaimes8309 I use dlsstweaks

Nice video. Im late to the story in alan wake and in a flooded area when using K preset i would get strobing lights coming out of objects or foliage. Going back to the default dlss of the now updated game, these lights disappeared
Can you do ultra low res comparisons? The image quality “beats” if you render at like 240p
ty sir you da best

Preset K is not listed for me, for some reason. Even after updating
In nvidia app?
"Latest" as of now means K
@ I’m glad “latest” means K in nvidia app. A bit confusing since it wasn’t listed in the drop down. Thanks!
So I am guessing it only works with games that support frame generation ? Cause I tried using the Nvidia App with Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and it says that it's Unsupported ?
nvidia app is bit buggy at the moment
It works with all games that have DLSS
Manually swap dll to 310.2 and then use NPI to force preset to K
i can't change DLSS preset trough Nvidia App in to Silent Hill 2. Do you have same situation guys?
@@anjelomichelangelo7726 yes lot of games don't show up in app
For these games you have to use NPI or dlsstweaks

Hello 👋🙂
Do you have the opportunity to make a comparison using the example of Rdr 2 with the new Dlcc 4 Transformer vs Native model?
I think nvidia should add hud option in their app too
like we get performance numbers by pressing alt R
@S2GamesBench And what is the Alt+R combination? Under what conditions does it work when you specify a Hud-related option in the dlls tweaker? This is the first time I've heard of it, please explain.
@Rostovgenchik no alt r enables performance metrics, you can try it, it will show you fps, gpu temp clock speed etc
I was wondering if they could add dlss hud to that then it will make things easier
@@Bry.89 yes hud is always on
hey so I placed dlss tweaks next to exe file of spidey 2 and also pasted the latest DLL file and set preset to K for DLAA but yet I dont see the dlss tweaks log generated do I have to manually override the DLL file in the tweaks config??

hey man! how do i apply dlls 4 to spiderman 2? where do i download and how? thanks
grab latest dll from here - www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/
then overwrite old dll file in your game with one you downloaded
then either use NPI or dlsstweaks to change preset to K
dlsstweaks guide is in pinned comment
Could you possibly do some testing for J vs K for DLAA? (might produce some different results compared to Performance and Quality)
I keep hearing that K is superior, but to my eyes K looks too blurry/introduces some artifacts in face textures, etc. when playing at 1440p DLAA.
J is oversharpened, thats why k is a little ‘blurry’.
@@CheGabba I will try to add it in next video
When I use preset K in Cyberpunk 2077 game in Ultra Performance mode, there is no problem with image loss.
could you try the witcher 3 please? could be dlss 3 vs dlss 4 K version or both DLSS 4 presets
im using dlls 4 preset k on ultra performance and i had great improvements, at 3440x1400p with rtx 3070 ti
HOW i activate TRANSFORMER on rtx 4080 ???
Option 1 - Use Nvidia app.
Option 2 - Grab the new dll 310.2.1.0 from techpowerup - www.techpowerup.com/download/nvidia-dlss-dll/
and overwrite the old ones in your game files
Then either use *latest* version of dlsstweaks or *latest* version of NPI to change preset to K
Is dxgi.dll the new winmm.dll in dlss tweaks ??
dxgi
nvngx
winmm
you can rename to any, whichever name works
try one by one
winmm seems to work mostly these days
nvngx has very low success rate

Is there somewhere info on what all these presents mean?
Like, what's the difference between J and K, or D and F?
@@tomtomkowski7653 Basically DLSS upscaling can be done in various ways
Each way is a preset
Presets affect image quality and performance
as for differences you can check this playlist, every preset to ever exist has been compared here - th-cam.com/play/PLl8LHiAQW21YAAxCOjHe8K_t_qiWacDPb.html
@@S2GamesBench This is way more confusing than it should be if DLLS can only have 4 modes: UltraPerformance, Performance, Balance, and Quality.
@@tomtomkowski7653 those are quality modes, you can change them in game settings to decide what resolution game runs at.
Presets are not same thing, presets decide how DLSS is run
If it is confusing you can use nvidia app and leave it to latest then nvidia will handle everything and you don't have to do anything.
@@tomtomkowski7653 They don't need to be that confusing. If you set it to "latest" on your nvidia app, you will get the best version. Older versions are maintained for backwards compatibility and comparison reasons, but you don't need to interact with them at all.
" notice how the fence shimmers less, amazing next gen graphics and performance, if you look closely there is even more pud in the puddle" .... Nvidia
So 1440p dlss performance is usable now?
yes
Yep in some games for sure, even dlss ultra performance from 4K looks pretty acceptable in some games now for huge fps gains
What is the hexadecimal code for preset K. I'll mod the xml myself for NPI. Is it 0x0000000B?
yes 0x0000000B is Preset K
0x00FFFFFF is for Latest, which it currently is, so either should work
Я даже не знал об этих пресетах, подписался
im getting ghosting and blur still why, i thought this new model fixes that its a joke
In spiderman 2? use preset E for spiderman, J and K seem to have ghosting in this game
Compare DLSS vs no DLSS
Does anyone else think preset J looks better than K in Indiana Jones? K looks a little blurrier/oily
These are my presets... Neither of those are included lol
Preset A: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes.
Preset B: Intended for Ultra Performance mode.
Preset C: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes.
Preset D: Intended for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes.
Preset E: The now-default preset for Performance/Balanced/Quality modes.
Preset F: The now-default preset for Ultra Performance and DLAA modes.
Okay, what is the best dlss for quality? RTX4080. In your opinion.
Currently not that simple, while transformers have improved over CNN but there are still some issues like in Spiderman 2 you see ghosting with both J and K while E doesn't have it, however image stability is better with K
In Indiana Jones E has ghosting while J doesn't
So it depends on game what to use.
I noticed in FF 7 rebirth the ocean in junon looks grainy with the J preset. I wonder if that's fixed with the K preset
performance mode in 1440p is like 480p lol
I tried the dlss preset k with the nvidia app override in multiple games, but for example, in marvel rivals, dlss 4 introduces tearing (don't know why) and judder, the original game's dlss does not show the same issues. I know tearing is not linked to dlss but it only happens when i use the override option. (and things on camera does not seem to moove smoothly even though frame time is flat and fps are in gsync range)
Is your monitor gsync compatible if yes then turn it on
so preset K is better
do you know about the fg 4 problem?

Ks an improvement over J but still not good with ray tracing 😢 I tried K with the Witcher 3 and the foliage was too fuzzy and could see artifacts around geralts head, I ended up using E preset which is 3.8 Quality by my understanding, big improvement over the original DLSS but would love it if they fixed dlss 4 with ray tracing enabled.
