189 cars and a mid-train DPU! My kind of train. The DPU is no surprise, considering that around 75 of these cars were full of steel! Can you imagine the weight? It has to be staggering! Best catch of the day, JT! 😃😃😃😃😃❤❤❤❤❤
On that train with the loud thumping sound that stopped, it sounded as if one wheel pair on a hopper joined to the flat car was derailed and riding across the railroad ties.
Definitely sounded like something dragging on ties or a wheel off. Been great if you could seen from ground level. Guess it’ll get figured out, especially if it leaves the track 😮.
I was wrong about the steel train being catch of the day. That honor goes to Brandi! Thanks for getting her in another video, my friend! Thank you for a spectacular video. It was amazing! 😀😀😀😀😀😀❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
41:14 That bridge is the KBS railroad, that line runs between Lafayette and Kankakee. Its easy to chase because US 52 parallels most of the route in Indiana and it has a 20-25 mph speed limit.
Nice location for train watching and a great job on your photography Mr. 🦷. The super long train did get to be a bit boring, sooo I had to speed up the film to keep from falling asleep 😴 😅😅. Keep hanging in there like a loose 🦷, Mr. 🦷👍
I also forgot to mention in the video that one time when I was at a model train convention in Cincinnati my car got broken into at the parking garage. Drove home in 20F weather with a blanket in place of a window. Good to see you here Dave! Thanks for watching
Nice video Jaw Tooth.... (Brian)...! Been there many times since both my daughters went to Purdue..... Since I was an Engineer on the UP had to walk over from the Red 7 and check out the station and the trains from that great view.... (Just across the street and a short walk north is the Red 7 bar and restaurant that I liked to stop in for lunch)... Loved this, "Smoke Em", Greg
Great train action in Indiana with CSX and Norfolk Southern trains at the Lafayette Amtrak Station with a very awesome view of the tracks as they go by this is very beautiful here, also great to see the live action pets and the music slide shows thank you Jaw Tooth. 🚂🚃🚃🇺🇲:)
Thank you for Covering Lafayette Indiana! I'm currently a college student that is studying at Purdue and it is wonderful to see the area around my school being featured.
Awesome filming spot, JT, but you're always finding the best spots! I also appreciate the history you give on the locations where you film as well as the info on the trains themselves! Please keep safe and hydrated out there and we'll see you tomorrow! God bless!
JT that’s why I always tell y’all to watch your back, no matter where you at because with all of these crazy ass people in here from other countries, man, you don’t never know what somebody’s gonna do to you when they walk up to you specially, if you filming a train and you don’t hear them coming or don’t see them coming toward you But anyway, another awesome video, my friend and I really like that where you were standing up on that pedestrian bridge because you could see down in the trains and now everybody knows what the gondola trains hall steel slabs and they also are fabricated to haul steel coils but as always my friend you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Thanks! You do a very nice job with trains along with some history which is always cool with live action pets. Have a safe blessed day🌎🎛sorry about that ticket and that person saying that is uncalled for
It sure is rare to see a boxcar with no graffiti. A long train too.❤ Nice city. Yep! Another train is coming is why the other one stopped.like how you viewed and captured these trains.😊 Brandi is sweet. Large towns are dangerous. Please be watchful and safe . Thanks Mr JT❤😊
Sorry about the parking ticket but what a great spot to watch some trains for a while. Looks like they run some pretty long ones through there. Thanks.
Nice catch with the overhead view. The court house is well kept. I cant beieve you got that ticket. I been fortunate in Stlouis parking garages.your mic is awsome ..that dpu was kickin!34.48. I was near the Wabash near Vincennes Ind. On the IL.side for the eclipse. I hope they give that guy disorderly conduct we dont need anymore scare tactics this day in age. Nice history with that bridge.1825! Yellow ants i might have seen them decades ago. Nice caboose with purrfect timing of the air guitar!👍sorry about your experience there.🐕🐈⬛🚂🚒⛺️
Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching my video! I still had a great day there. I have never seen little yellow ants before. One time when I was in Florida I had a bunch of ants biting my feet when I was barefoot. I learned real quick to watch where you go barefoot in Florida. Anyway, thanks for your support!
Your videos remind me that a simple activity, like watching trains can bring so much joy and escape from all the hardhness of the world. Thanks Again Mr Tooth.
Drove by East Lafayette Thursday on our way to Portage Park, Chicago Illinois. The giant wind mill farm north of East Lafayette is interesting! Reminds me of a si-fi movie.
Next time you are in western Indiana check out the triple crossing just west of Valparaiso. It's where the CN (former EJ&E) crosses "under" the NS and Chicago, Fort Wayne & Eastern tracks to bypass Chicago. There's also a cool RR themed restaurant in Valpo and an Inn in the old Chesterton depot. Chesterton is also a hot-bed of action including Amtrak high speed trains on their way to Detroit. If that wasn't enough there are two G-scale outdoor layouts in the area; one in nearby Sunset Hill Park and the other a little further west at Gabis Arboretum.
I really enjoy your videos. That is a beauty of a train station. Gosh that first train was sooo long. I've never seen one that long. I didn't see anyone counting cars, maybe they lost count by falling asleep. Nice an old SP box car. Used to see them all the time here in California. Another thing I miss is the caboose at the end. Stay safe, stay cool. Been hearing about all the heat and severe weather over in your area.
Thank you very much! We got up to 97F a couple days ago and it was the highest temperature in the past ten years. It sure is hot right now. Thanks for watching!
Thanks 👍 I really appreciate it! That does help. I can't figure out how they knew I was over on the time. I saw one guy standing by my truck and looking at it when I was a little distance away. I was going to move it but I was wondering what he was doing so I stayed back and watched. Then a city truck pulled up and a guy put the ticket on the windshield. At that point I figured it out and it made me a little sick. I can't remember ever having that happen. Thanks for your support with it!
Brian I used to be homeless in Lafayette Indiana around summer 2011 for a few weeks I was seeing someone named Lisa rayburn we both was at the salvation army shelter a couple Miles away and sometimes I would sleep on the benches at that train station cause it would be so hot and muggy out and a church on the Purdue campus st Thomas I believe would let us sleep in the pews and feed us too I loved going to the tippancanoe mall too makes me feel sad again for some reason just seeing this train station and remembering it all again I truly miss all the people I met in Lafayette Indiana
Super long trains, good variety. I liked them. I’ve been in Lafayette a lot of times going between Indy and Chicago and back. My granddaughter goes to Purdue. I really enjoyed this video. Super railfan spot and nice train station. Thanks JT. ❤ (I am trying out a new utube name)
Awesome location Jawtooth! I used to have to travel up there for work sometimes when I was in the auto industry. I got to do some railfanning while I was there! Awesome place!👍
That train bridge going across the river I'm not sure the company who owns it but it's the line going west out of Lafayette , thanks Jaw tooth for filming in my home town.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains, I like them, they're awesome, my birthday is coming up in 4 days, on Labor Day on Monday, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much and have a nice day and night.
Hey jaw tooth awesome trains. Wish you were ground level so we could see what was making thumping noises on cov hop. How's your mouth doing? Glad you and your family and pets are doing great and healthy. Keep up great work videoing trains . Have a great railroad day. 🚂🙋♀️
Tippecanoe was where a famous battle took place between several indigenous tribes and Governor Harrison of the Indiana Territoy in 1811. It means something about river full of fish. Chief Tecumseh was protesting a land treaty that was agreed upon by another tribe. Harrison won the battle, and on his way out burned all the idigenous winter stores. He earned the nickname Tippecanoe for his victory and used the slogan Tippecanoe and Tyler Too when he ran for president. Tecumseh on the other hand had a cigar store Indian named after him.
