The Polyphonists (puh-LIH-fuh-nists) are a professional vocal ensemble founded from two households: soprano Amy Broadbent & tenor Matthew Hill, and mezzo-soprano Sylvia Leith & bass-baritone Edmund Milly. The word polyphony describes many independent voices interwoven in harmony, and that is our ethos: We are four soloists, but we come together to create music that transcends our individuality.
Since our debut in 2020, The Polyphonists have garnered a steady following and developed a reputation for sophisticated and broad-ranging programming. The Polyphonists were honored as National Finalists for The American Prize in Chamber Music Performance, 2023 (Professional Division), and have been featured in residence at the University of Maryland, Towson University, the University of Oklahoma, & Oklahoma Baptist University. Our repertoire spans from the early Renaissance through the current day, with a commitment to expanding the choral canon by premiering new works and shining a light on lesser-known gems of the repertoire.

The voices are in perfect balance. It is one of the best performance I have heard. Thank you.
Beautiful rendition! One of the best I've ever heard. Thank you 😊
Pure, unadulterated pleasure for the listener. Thank you.
You are a superbly balanced and complete quartet, producing the finest polyphony, your videos display individual feelings of the music and text being sung so clearly. I'm a bass-baritone and this is one of the many Tallis motets that can be so lovingly expressed. AWSOME PERFORMANCE! Thank-you
Brilliant. So, so clear. A non vibrato sop line would make it sensational
So beautifully sung. Tallis really knocked it out of the park with this one!
He did nothing of the sort. The instruments of the time were utterly different as was musical notation. Singers certainly did not practice in the intense way they do today with modern harmonic knowledge.
The sounds of today's a capella groups and choirs in general come from musical rearrangement and hours of practice to intentionally delight modern sensibilities.
Oh, and sky fairies had absolutely nothing to do with it - study, practice and work were responsible.
Absolutely breathtaking and heavenly!
Thank you, my heavy soul breaths better after this.
As near perfect as I need to hear. Excellent recording quality, too.
I love the way the way the “that he,” is arranged in this rendition. With a small trill.
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed our ornaments on the repeat!
Yes I love that too! A bit of a madrigalesque edge ❤
Perfectly lovely ;Thanks, Polyphonists
All the hits and more!
Exquisite.
Bravo!
Beautifully executed
👏
Beautiful.
Thank you!

Soprano's nose jewelry creeped me out for a few seconds.😉
Glad you're ok now
Meaning: I didn't perceive it as nose jewelry for quite some time. You can imagine what I imagined. Each medium distorts the recipients' perceptions of reality. Something to keep in mind. Just sayin'. The ears only should have done the perceiving here. And speaking for my ears, they we well pleased by the performance. @@amy_broadbent
Silver snot!
Brilliant. So clear. A non-vibrato sop line would make it sensational
... more so the alto line.@@robertd4051
A great disapointment! Two households apparently unmarried. I dont know how it is possible, such angelic voices boldly not obeying His commandments.
