Lost my wife to lung & brain cancer last week. I remember when we saw the first CT scans. All I could think of was this song. She passed away in my arms, at home with our 3 dogs by our side. For the past 11 months during her battle all I could think of was this song. She lived an exemplary life, fought bravely, with courage & grace. Now I must follow her wishes & the message from this song. As should we all. Blessings.
I lost my husband to brain cancer in 2007. I had never heard this song then. Less than a year after his death our son and I attended a Tim McGraw concert with a large group of friends. My son and I were standing near each other. As the first chorus was sung we moved closer together and were touching each other. Moments later we turned to each other and embraced and sobbed into each other's shoulders. We stayed like that until we took a deep breath and broke apart and just looked at each other. There was no need for words- we had already lived it and felt it and understood each other. I still go to this song when I need reminding of the love the three of us shared and the adventures we had together and the incredible legacy my husband left behind for his son. And we both know that tomorrow isn't promised so live your best life today.
I'm so sorry. I've been with mine for 17 years and the last 3 have been every week a new symptom. Luckily I did hospice for a living but when it's my best friend and soul mate since I was 23 I'm 40 now it will be my last . This one is a honor to help in the journey but so soul breaking
Stage 3 b lung cancer. Removed my right lung, 36 chemo, 34 radiation. That was 6 years ago. And while I never went sky diving or rode a bull, I did get married to the woman of my dreams. Here's to living your life to the fullest. This song nails it perfectly.
I really never understood country music, but I do now. It is all about life. I absolutely love this song. I cry every time I listen to it and tears don't come easy for me. I have forgiven all of the people that I thought I would teach a lesson to by not speaking to them. I learned the lesson of lonliness and how quickly time passes. I plan to start living like I were dying.......... Thank you for this great song. The lyrics will change my life.
This has to be one of the best message songs ever. It’s as good as any inspirational message I’ve heard at church or anywhere. Because of it,I have tried to be the friend a friend would like to have. Apply that to everything in your life, and you’ll go a long way.
Can only echo that. Had a rat pack of half a dozen guys in high school and we've had reunions annually most years since, now nearing age 80. That last horizon has crept a lot closer. So just for old times' sake, I had T-shirts printed for us showing an image of a rodeo rider on a bull and the caption, well, you know what it says..... You can never be sure about celebrities' public persona, and I realize Tim McGraw didn't write this song, but he sure projects the kind of man that both men and women can admire.
This song now hits home for me. Just lost my DAD early Christmas morning at 1:25am. This song just speaks to my heart. Life is so short people. Enjoy the times with your parents. They can be gone before you know it.
Reminds me of the cancer stuff. I didn't want my family devistated. Told one daughter only to be sure someone understood. Had surgury. Been clear since ......LOVE THIS SONG!!!
That's talent right there, folks. Just as good, if not better, in person. Tim McGraw is an excellent vocalist, excellent entertainer. He'll go down as one of the all time greats, along with George Strait and Alan Jackson.
My brother passed away in 2018 a week before my 21st birthday and the last video on his Facebook is a video of him going sky diving listening to this song and it was our favorite song we used to listen to as kids and I loose it every time
So sorry for the loss of your brother. My dad passed away in 2019 from lung cancer but he was 78 YO. He smoked the majority of his years so I hate to hear it when someone so young, and with so many years yet ahead of them, passes away. May the dear memories, that no one can take from you, keep him alive in your mind and heart. So glad he had the opportunity to go skydiving! That must’ve been an awesome experience!
Listen to that low C that John Marcus plays at the very start of the song, just brilliant, solid bass playing. Those big, long notes are what Country bass playing is all about. John Marcus is one of the best bassists in Country music. The entire band is outstanding.
when i heard that my sister of 43 years old had passed away suddenly without any reason i was listening to this song on the radio,i DID go skydiving ,flew a plane and actually landed it without the instructors help the first time i went up,and have adopted tims way of life.smile every day and let them figure out why you are always happy.RIP debbie
I love this. I miss Toby and thinks for the tribute to him love you Tim and I listened. To this why my gf was going thorough so much I can’t even tell you how many hours I put it on repeat
yolo guys, Ive lost my dad to cancer, and now my mums got terminal cancer! one thing Im not going to do it waste time worrying about stuff, live life to the full and enjoy every moment.......you just never know when its your time
Deep in thought… I dont want to have to wait until something tragic happens in my life to “live like I am dying”. How about making a conscious choice to deeply appreciate what we have and where we are today? Live and love purposefully from this moment on…. you’ll not regret that 💝
I can’t get through this without tearing up. Lost my Dad to cancer. I don’t know how Tim does it. So glad he got a standing ovation after this - pure perfection and beauty in this performance.
I lost B in '15 to his own hand. He was, and still is, my best friend. Lost his mom to the C and couldn't go on. Man was a rockstar walking, 2nd from his holler to graduate college, crushing it in software engineering & seemed to have it all made. He always asked to go to the gym and then hike. I went often, but wish I had gone more. He lived life for the stories, and I do the same in his honor. You're never allowed to quit.
True.....but on the second chance you get, going out there and living the best you can makes it worth it even when you feel the deck of cards were against you. . 💙💙 Tim is stunning and compassionate. My heart is full.
Love some Tim McGraw ❤Everyone please pray for one of my Best Friend who son in law was electrocuted the week before last. And he is needing all the prayers possible to pull through for his beautiful wife and 3 babies.🙏🏽
When it's better than a studio recording it is epic.. funny Tim and I are both born may 1st 1967.. I have come to terms that he is a better singer than me..lol..this guy is the real deal
I love this guy. even if he's live, he sounds exactly like he does on the track, but that's not what gets me the most. what gets me is how inspirational he is. he inspires people to live their life to the fullest and not let any buck or bull get ya down. no matter what
Love deeper, speak sweeter, give forgiveness, give 100%, show respect, realize what is truly important in this world - not stuff, not money, not what you don't have. Focus on what you do have & strive for perfection on the important things: family, friends, love, community. Practice it every day because one day you will wake up to find that either you or someone you love is in that position, & then it may be too late. Don't learn this the hard way. Trust me, I know.
Totally can relate to this song I lost my mom to a brain tumor when I was 6 about a month shy of my 7th birthday. Although I remember limited things about her, this song totally describes her. She even said once 'only the good die young' and isn't that the truth. This song hits nothing but home for me. I miss her more and more each day and it's been over 18 years
This song brings me back to my dad. He survived 2 forms of cancer, the third got him..I was in my early 40s at the time, go figure. I spent many nights with him, so mom, could sleep. He thought he could have surgery to save him, but the doctors and our family finally got thru to him, it wasnt gonna save him. He asked me one night, if I had any questions for him, I did, but I couldnt speak them. I wish I had! Time starting running out, I was giving him liquid morphine for his pain..It was his relief and my pain now. He was delusional at times, telling me, he was sorry the colonel, wouldnt let me fly over the snake river. Dad was an Air Force mechanic..I rode Fu Manchu....for about 3 months...then I got bucked off...I miss you Dad!! Thank You Mr. McGraw for a song like this, it keeps him close. rip RMW 23 june 2007...mom followed 13 years later....couldnt ask her those questions either..rip KKW
Too Bad we usually have to thru a huge heart ouchie like this to remember our lives should live like this every single day. I'll bet he would have given all his riches back to have his Dad back. I know I did when my younger brother died. It yanked my heart out... wasn't ready for that. But I did learn about the true value of our people. You absolutely, positively can not get they back once they have passed away. Having stuff & $ is an illusion of Success. Our people are our heart & soul. Love you people every day.

Diane Mckimmy Tim McGraw
He won't when he is not live. Vaccinations help.
Amen !
I like that when he's live he sounds the same. Really good tune.
I saw him in concert several years ago. In fact, he sang to me and fist bumped my hubby. Great performer.
he is one of the few singers who can actually sing live
This was played at my little brothers funeral. I cry every time it's played. RIP Bear.

a poem
i wrote for my late
forever partner
journey above
never say goodbye
to the ones you love
just wish them well
on their journey above
only time will tell
how the heart will mend
when i journey above
and we meet again
so much time
has gone past
that my happiness
won't return
untill we're together at last
you promised a love
so long and true
but G-D had other tasks
in Heaven
for you to do
for you
i see no more pain
i see no more stress
because i know
your soul has moved on
to a much better address
i will love you
always and forever
and i will forget you
