    Does it keep up with full screen video, or is it a bit laggy from time to time? It is still compressed, right? Full colour gamut supported, or does it look a little more matte or desaturated on the sidecar/ continuity iPad? Have they started allowing uncompressed video over thunderbolt now?

    This is super awesome! When I was traveling with my MBP and iPad some time ago this came in super useful. But man, with that oled display, it’ll be another level!

    I might have to get an iPad after watching this! Now to find a free usb-c port in my Mac Studio. Thanks Dylan!!

    Would be awesome if you could set the iPad screen to be rotated 90 degrees for full screen vertical video.

    I think the best argument using iPad Pro would be that incase you want to edit HDR content. With the Studio Display it might not be possible. Color accuracy is very good on both displays by default.

    Anyway to make it work with the iPad in the vertical position? I mainly bought this to help with vertical video, however, in portrait mode, it doesn't use the full screen, and there is a huge black screen at the bottom. Quite disappointed to be honest that they haven't thought of this.

    What are your thoughts about putting the other options on the iPad? Is there a speed advantage to put the browser on a touch screen? Can you tap and add things quickly to the timeline?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I honestly haven’t tested that out, that’s a great question!
      I do know I love using any iPad for live streams, having the touch interface through the stream deck app is huge. It would be interesting to see if that’s something you can do with FCP as well.

    I have a Mac Studio with 3-1080 displays now, plus the iPad hooked up like you, but can't get it to choose which monitor as a secondary monitor. I can force one of my 1080 monitors to be my AV reference monitor, then the other becomes a secondary, but can't make anything go up to the iPad except dragging the the main window, which I don't want the timeline on the iPad. Something simple I'm missing?

    Wow this is an amazing feature that I was really waiting for in Final Cut!
    Is it possible to know at which resolution does the iPad connects to the Mac via cable? Does it uses the XDR 1600nits color profile? Is it a 444 RGB 10bit uncompressed connection? Is it possible to separately calibrate the iPad with a colorimeter?
    I couldn’t find these informations anywhere…
    Thank you!

    Question... as I just did some editing on a Morocco trip we went on over spring break like this in my hotel room today... are you going into the Display settings on the iPad and then to the Advanced section and putting it into reference mode when you are doing this, or simply leaving it as normal when you are using it as a viewer display. How much if any do you expect to be gained by doing that?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I use it in both ways! If it’s a simple project that doesn’t require the most accurate color ever, I’ll edit it in its regular display mode. I like having the extra brightness that it offers. Super useful when outside.
      But if I’m working for a big client that needs the utmost quality. Definitely switch it to reference mode. I would only edit that in a darker room anyway so I can focus on a more accurate look.

    Hi Dylan. I bought the new 13” because of this vid. Great way to view your footage and still use it for other things. ✌️😊
    One Question though: I get a little red square to the right in the viewer. I guess it has something to do with the fit of the screen. Is there a way to get rid of it? Do you also set the viewer fit to 100%?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The red square just means you’re zoomed in a little bit, and not all of your footage is being shown. If you set it to fit, you should be good to go!

    Does that icon appear with any second display? I have two studio displays and I’m sure I don’t see that.

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes that icon should be there with any secondary display setup. If you’re not seeing it, I’d try a full computer restart and see if that brings it back. That’s unusual it’s not there!

  • @seb-depp
    @seb-depp 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Interesting. Do you notice any latency? I never edit with my AirPods as the wireless music is about 1 to 3 frames late and I tend to edit to the music (I could use the waveforms of course but then playing back is messed up). Maybe with the iPad and the AirPods both are the same amount of frames late ;-)

  • @krupkake1

    Can it be used as an a/v output option?

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately no, as that requires HDMI to my knowledge. I’m sure theoretically, if you got the iPad to take an HDMI input with a USB capture card, you might be able to manage. But at this time, I believe it’s only possible to do a dual display setup.
      That said, if I’m being 100% honest, I have done a ton of work with multiple monitor setups, and someone in the comments might have a better answer that I’m not aware of!

    I’m pretty sure a studio display w pi Ulf show your content just fine since you do do HDR, no?

    Is is working as AV out ? 🙏🏼

    • @TheFinalCutBro
      @TheFinalCutBro  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No, it only works as a second monitor unfortunately. Though I bet you could get some kind of HDMI conversion into the iPad to make it AV out! Just not sure what tools to use for that.

    Having an iPad with XDR is pretty nice via continuity, but sadly A/V Output doesn't work... UNLESS... you use the iPad as your primary display. Then your main monitor will work as your A/V output!

      It’s because it’s a MacBook “Bro”
      Haha I split my editing between both machines, but tend to use my MacBook Pro more just due to the fact that I can take it more easily with me anywhere! Although, if FCP for iPad gets larger updates, I might not even use a MacBook in the future!

    • @NathanHattonOfficial
      @NathanHattonOfficial 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He’s not actually doing the editing on the iPad, just using it as a reference monitor since the OLED display on the iPad is better than the mini-LED displays on the MacBook Pro! The Mac is still running the software!
