🔴 Thanks for watching. What do you like best about this left shoulder move and is there anything about it you don't understand? Let me know in the comments below 👇
Well, I have been dealing with early extending and trying everything to fix it. This low left shoulder move to start the downswing solves that problem and puts me in the right position at impact. I have been looking for a way to fix my sequence in the transition and this solution solves that problem too...bravo!
So far, I have watched two of your videos: The Short Backswing and The Low Left Shoulder and I am totally impressed with your videos and instructions. They are right on point, very helpful and very effective. Congrats Hitting It Solid. Keep up the good work I love your methodology!!! I will be a long-term follower for sure. Thank you for putting them together and making them available online.
Feel like this is really gonna help me transfer weight on to the front foot and follow through. Swung a club in the garden without a ball and my finish looked way better. Can’t wait to try this properly. Because I learnt how to play when I had a left ankle injury I tend to bail out at the end and quite often fall back off the shot or lift the left foot. Practising this in the garden I really felt myself putting nice pressure on the left side. Thanks mate
This key is absolutely essential to unlock the correct impact moment for me.Almost same drill Johnny Millar used.Thank you for explaining this movement. I am 70 and next week my goal is to break 70.
For so long I never considered the left shoulder down . I was worried about getting my left hip out of the way . My low point has always been to the right of center . I'm a right hander . Thanks a lot !
After struggling with my irons lately, found that this is the first time any pro has shown this move. Great it really works..I'm 76 and play off 11. I used to play off 4 in my 50's and 8 in my 60's Thank you for helping me today.
I have just discovered your videos. It’s strange how you can watch lots of videos and all of a sudden some videos just hit the mark. I have been watching your channel and going through the videos and my swing feels so much better. I actually feel in control of it for the first time ever. Thanks very much for taking the time to make them. Great channel, great videos and great explanations.
This is really top notch instruction. I was experimenting with my left shoulder low two weeks ago at the driving range, with very nice success; but I didn't have the swing knowledge to identify exactly what I was doing. Thanks for putting it into perspective.
Shot -1 gross last time on the links, lipped out two birdie putts along the way, beating a club first-team player 3 and 2. This tip has transformed my ball striking. The best Christmas present was being at the range and flushing 3-iron after 3-iron long and straight. The point you make about making the low point of the swing more consistent is so true. It makes such a difference. Thank you.
@@Hittingitsolid I hope so. And whilst I've heard this tip before, it has never been as well explained and demonstrated. Great coaching, Troy. I'm more than grateful.
i reckon i could be struggling with this issue too, well done Troy i think you explained that very well, your videos are very clear thanks ill try work on this drill and see how it goes, Tim.
Troy, you have the best instruction and get to the point and most importantly - you keep it simple for us (me) amateurs to comprehend and makes so much sense..I always am so eager to try it out at the next session.
I am interested to try this as looking for a downswing key/trigger to initiate pressure shift and to improve my low point/strike consistency - I can really relate to this helpful video - THANKS
Great video. Many of my favorite golfers all do this very well. This should not only makes your golf shots consistent but also helps you release the golf club more naturally (more power). If you grab your left shoulder where it meets the arm, you will feel the arm supinates much better when left shoulder is not raised.
Yes, it also helps with letting the hips slide forward before turning which pushes the bottom of the downswing forward. When I don't do this I lift early and lose any chance at a good strike. Thanks. Subbed.
Really liking your videos. Other than guarding against leaning over too far in the left low, is there anything else to use caution with when subtlely dropping an inch with the left shoulder? Thanks
Excellent demo Troy on keeping the left should down in the downswing! I am probably guilty of not doing this causing the fat and skinny shots you mentioned. I will definitely keep this in mind when implementing this move. I have been tying to duplicate the "hockey player slap shot" in order to get my body working correctly in the downswing. Keep up the good work. Always enjoy your lessons!!
Hi Troy, am enjoying your videos, thank you. I've been working on keeping hands close to right hip on the downswing after watching your video on that to create space & shallow the club as I was coming into steep. However I then noticed that as I did that my left shoulder would want to pop up at that point in the downswing. Will this drill help me with that do you think? Any other tips?
Hi David, as you start the downswing you want to feel as though the left shoulder starts lower than the left and then the shoulders will level out as you rotate. Thanks
Great video. Where I often get into trouble is my lead hip gets to high on the downswing which conversely makes it hard for me to keep my lead shoulder down. Comments thoughts? Thanks
Hi Brenda, I used to do this. Practice doing slow swings doing the opposite feel with your lead shoulder low until you build some muscle memory. You'll probably hit pulls at first but after a while, the path will straighten out.
@@Hittingitsolid yes, i used to drive r.elbow but my left shoulder went too high up and my hips slid left. this promotes better body move for me, thanks
Great drill….thank you! I’ve been a long-time early-extension or left shoulder up causing contact with the ground well before the ball. The left shoulder down really helps.
One of the best moves. This thought works great but now I have to spend time with lag as the low point actually is behind the ball due to my arms straightening with the old swing.
Enjoyed your video. Appreciate you are demonstrating this using an iron. Is this move applicable for a driver? I was taught that the left shoulder should be moving up in transition with the driver.
Thanks Milorad, it is. It's important to remember it's a split second move of maybe an inch even with the driver and then the shoulders will level out and then the left shoulder moves up. Does that make sense? Cheers
I'm been working on this drill because I am definitely a shoulder up player. But I also struggle with starting my downswing with the arms which freezes my hips and causes me to come over the top. When the left shoulder goes down is this simultaneous with the right leg pushing into the ground to start hip rotation? Or are you starting the downswing with the shoulder and the hips will follow?
Hello, it's more the simultaneous feeling of the right leg pushing down and the hip rotating. It does take some practice. Start small with little shots and gradually build up to longer ones. Does that make sense? Cheers
Hi I like your teaching style, very clear and unambiquous. Btw d be very interested to hear your thoughts on right hand throw-based swing. Check out Marcus Edblad on youtube. It seems to require more timing but Id be interested to hear a professional critique. Thanks

Whenever people say "keep your head down", this is actually what they mean. Been doing this a fair bit and won my club's medal last month, shot 75. 👍🏻
Nice work Amir, yes keeping your head down is not good advice. I’d rather tell people to stay in posture instead. Cheers
Reckon you cheated
Really like this drop shoulder on the downswing tip. I have the exact problems you listed at the start
Light Bulb 💡 moment. Early Extension has been problem with my swing for a while. This swing thought definitely works. Great Tip Troy 👍
