Well done! I agree, it's the principle. I just did the same with a trip to Cartagena from Medellin, the cost of adding a carry-on or checked bag was more than the price of the flight, so I decided I could get by with just a personal item.
Glad you got through!!! Way to go! I am flying a budget airline for the 1st time after 40 years of travel just to save $$. Going from Boston to FL Spirit then return Frontier. Visiting sib for 2 weeks and I am taking only a personal item. My plan is to spend approx $15 to USPS some things to FL ahead of time and send them back....1/2 the price of a bag one way. Hotels will also hold your package for you, I checked for my next trip.
It was Frontier down to FL and Spirit back. Frontier eliminated my 9am flight and put me on one that is over 3 hours before. No way I can get to Boston a hour before a 6am flight, because over 3 hrs change they gave me money back. However no available flights till weekend, which reduces my trip to 12 days, only one full weekend. I take Spirit now both ways. Let's see what merrymaking Spirit can do. BTW, no luggage manufacturers make a bag with wheels (I cannot lug) that is 18 x 14 x 8 personal item size which is strict in Boston. I just ordered my 4th bag, lets see if it conforms. So wish I booked with a regular airlines.
I think they are trying to stop people from taking 3+ bags onto the flights now by having all of these smaller bags rather than just a carry on and personal item 🤷♀️ AKA so they can charge us more money 😂
United is the same, just flew to Texas and back. You just have to shove it in your backpack before boarding and take it back out when you get to your seat. That's what I did.
Get a phone case with a wallet and a strap. It will hold everything in your wallet except a passport. The one I have is from Sena, although I think they stopped making this one. It is pretty thin. There are others I’ve seen that are not too thick. It’s all I ever use unless I need a tote with all kinds of stuff. For travel I use one piece of whatever size luggage(with a front pocket) and my phone worn crossbody. No purse is necessary. I pack a very small purse for nights out when I carry a bit of makeup and a folding brushes
I was so invested in this to see if you got through!! haha well done! Now I gotta watch your Sedona vid!!
We need more people like u.... i rather spend more time to pack strategically than gets ripped off...

That is a genius idea! I have never thought to do that, but that is such a great tip!

Good on you We all need to do this or wear layers if we're going somewhere cool
When did fanny packs become a carry-on on Delta? I haven't flown in awhile but it hasn't been THAT long, six months maybe?

You made me laugh Laura.. But I am agree with you that you have to beat the system... Enjoy 🤗👌🥂
Thanks haha I'm glad the video gave you a chuckle!
I always travel with my passport, domestic and international.
I always fly with only an under seat bag if possible. It's so freeing.
It definitely is! There is nothing better than landing in a new place and being able to walk straight out to a taxi/public transport.
