    You earned a sub. Content heavy, your content exudes competence because of your experience. That's a huge difference from other TH-cam channels and content.

    Great video. Good mix of talking, information, examples, and lots of good photos.
    Good length too, it flowed very well.
    BRAVO!...
    & CONGRATS! on getting that NYT cover; that's really a HUGE achievement.

    Another great video Justin. Would love to see you to talk a little bit more about what were you thinking when taking the photos from a technical point of view, for example the composition decision. Thank you!

      Thanks George, I’ll have to try to remember what I was thinking besides don’t mess this up and don’t get arrested :).

    Great shots! Did you use the SL with only the 24-70?

    Oh my goodness, NEVER AGAIN with the Pelican case. I used to lug one around because I was dabbling in making VR video - and I’ll never forget the ordeal going through customs in Colombia with all that. I travel to Colombia a lot and that same lady is always working in the airport, and always giving me the stink-eye…

      The DREADED STINK EYE!!!!!!

      @RichardSilvius 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@JeffreyHauser more than that it’s he dreaded 3 hours being held up by that lady in Aduanas, which on the first occasion was preceded by the dreaded stink eye.

    I loved this video. On getting access - I find this one of the most difficult and murky skills of being a photographer, but arguably the most important. Would love for you to share more stories similar to this.

      Thanks Richard , this was a particularly tricky one for access on many levels . Hope to do more soon.

    You have the clear ability through decades of experience to tell us what it is to be a photojournalist covering some very topical issues that need to be reported on, and the the issues at stake to get the story. It's not all glamour and there is a lot of hard work involved. In such environments, personal risks are taken that clearly go unrecorded when we look at the images on the front page. You do a great job, Justin, bringing this all to light, which clearly separates your YT channel from a lot of the chaff that is out there. Well done.

    In some countries I've been too being a journalist of any kind is painting a big target on one's back. The least safe places I've been are in big cities in the US.

      I definitely feel safer just about everywhere in Asia compared to cities in the USA.

    Man, this was one of the most informative, interesting and revealing You Tube posts. It’s no wonder you’re as successful as you are. Congrats and keep up the great work. And while a trip to Vietnam may not be in the cards for me this year, I’m hoping you’ll be hosting more workshops in 2025. Best!
