- Welcome to the video of my refurbishment of my very old Desert Winds ME109 G6 model. Join me as I embark on a 2 month restoration to restore this airplane to a new Erich Hartmann scheme.

Piece of art. Amazing job. I can imagine that model with a RCM rotary engine so you could enclose the nose to scale and run a true three bladed prop.
Very nicely done. And what a landing on that narrow gear. I hope you have many many happy flights :)

@merlinpower100 Well I have a model shop a half hour walk into town where I live. Their 1st floor is all about Airfix kits and other brands of model kits. It's really awesome, I got my dad one for his birthday there.

I really enjoyed your video, esp the flight, that motor made a wonderful sound and the landing was so realistic, the 109 can be a handful to land, but you nailed that one.

Very nice!! I fly a 1/4 scale 109 F, that I built from the old Meister Scale plan. It's full balsa, with a fiberglass skin. Power is from a DLE-61, which gives it very good power. She's a wonderful flyer.
I did the paint and finish as Hartmann's first 109 when he was posted to JG52. I see in your video that you also have what looks to be a 1/4 Balsa USA Fokker D-VIII. Funny enough I fly one of those as well with a DLE-35. Thanks for the look and Happy Landings!!

great job! I flew there during the scale event this year when it was 106 degrees! I really like that field and I will fly there again in 2025. Subscribed!

Plane is Oberleutnant or Hauptmann Erich "Bubi" Hartmann's (352 victories). He served in Jagdgeschwader 52 (Fighter Wing 52) in Eastern Front.

Great lookin' model! How much of a performance difference is there between the 2 blade prop and a scale 3 blade?
@@TheJazsa80 thanks. It’s a significant reduction with the 3 blade and in addition, the diameter would be very small and just would look right.
Wow, great work with the refurb! Toward the end of the vid you commented that you don’t cover coat the weathering wash - wouldn’t it be best to clear cover after you wash to keep it looking great? Just trying to make my models better. Thanks
@@NerdSteve thanks for the comment! I appreciate it! Thank you for watching. My original plan was to flat clear the entire model. But what I have found through experience is that the Tamiya paint I yes holds up extremely well. It also allows the exhaust gas/oil residue to impregnate the paint making it look even more authentic. Just my two cents.
that is beautiful! whats the name of the filler you use for the fairing between the horizontal stab and the fin?

3:33 The paint used is Tamiya AS-5 (Luftwaffe light blue), AS-3 (Gray Green) and AS-4 (Gray Violet)
A really nice model of a Bf 109 G6, but the flaps are wrong.
Thank you. Yes, I’m totally aware on the flaps. Just didn’t want to put in the extra effort as it would require extensive rework.
I'm not very familiar with the flap on a 109. I've seen pictures where the inboard section is split and separated from the outer portion of the flap. How is it supposed to function?
Beautiful plane, it's a shame it doesn't have a three blade propeller.
@@sergebarbarat6643 thanks! Sadly, this engine could only spin a 20” 3 blade prop and the performance would be considerably less.I appreciate your comment though!

It look great!!!! Do you ever have people complain about the swastika? I have a swastika on a Corsair that I've done it was captured during WW2
@@Boz2131 nope. Not yet anyway. I have t seen a captured Corsair before. Sounds like a cool scheme.
har har..i´m from Germany and here some green-woke guys would suffer from heart attack by seeing this. It´s interesting, that in the former "foe"-countries the swastika is allowed and no one matters but in the former father land of the young pilots who gave their lives in the meaning to fight for their country against bolschewism and the two countries who declared war first to Germany, it´s strictly forbidden. Crazy...
And, by the way, very cool flyling and super-landing, congrats, colleague! (my fiance also has problems to get my machine, it´s not so easy with smartphone..😉)

One would think, but it is a powerful 60. Flies it quite scale.

This is an Old Desert Winds kit. Probably about 25 years old.

It weighs 39 pounds and has a 100” wingspan.
It is BF109 not an ME 109.
BF and ME are interchangeable.
it was also called the ME-109, it was the messerschmitt 109 or for short ME-109.
2 Blade Prop and Underpowered.......
