  • Exploring this Victorian Pier in Weston-Super-Mare on foot. It was built in the 1860's and closed in the 1990's. Left to rot. Such beautiful Victorian features. Check out my others videos for an aerial view by drone of this pier.

    The turnstiles and ticket booths are just fab! I can see in my mind's eye how they would've looked. What a shame such an historic landmark has been left to crumble into nothing.

      I know, it's a shame... There are people trying to raise money to do it back up. It would be nice to see if back to its former glory. Thanks for watching.

      @@collidingplanetsexploring6630 I hope they succeed. It would be nice to see the younger generation taking an interest in their social culture, and I hope that urbex exploration is encouraging that. It would be a fantastic setback for the greedy developers.
      Thanks for your reply.

      Yes I've been waiting to do this one for ages. Its still got its original features because not many people can get out there to steal anything. The ticket booths were my favourite too. Thanks for watching.

    Amazing explore, you can really sense the history, not a place to get stranded for the night though! keep an eye on that clock:)

      No i wouldn't like to get stuck out there on that island because the pier is absolutely knackered. I don't think it would take any weight at all..especially mine..lol. If i went by the clock tower id have all the time in the world...lol. Thanks for watching.

    30 years ago I knew the people who ran this pier. We went on when it was closed to the public and played on all the amusements. Shame it’s in such a bad state now

      When i went over there to take a look i couldn't believe how beautiful victorian metal features were. And to think they've been standing there for well over 100 years against the wind, rain and sea. It looks like all they need is a lick of paint and it would be beautiful once again. Thanks for watching.

    Interesting to see a video of this place. I remember many times as a young lad going on the pier with my parents. The big ballroom type building at that stage had an exhibition in the gallery area featuring lots of old vintage gramophones, I am sure i remember the piano/organ being played as well.. this would have been early-mid 1980s. Such a shame this cannot be restored as they have done so well with Clevedon Pier just a bit further along. Excellent video thank you.

    whats that song called after youre intro i love that heard it before in youre vids and amazing that you finaly could go there the stairs the floors look very bad. the piano is marvellous would you have swimmed back if it became tide? or sleep there. and good thing you walked down the bridge.

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If i got caught by the tide i would have to stay out there or get the lifeguard to get me. The bridge is well and truly knackered. You gotta see it to believe it. The music is called 1940's slow dance, i got it from youtube create. Thank you.

    Apparently the local council have bought this place with a view to restoration. They cant even fill in a pothole so what they are going to do with an iron structure which has stood in salt water for fifty years with no maintenance boggles the mind. The best thing for this sad structure is fifty demolition charges. And I say that as someone who played there as a child.

    How did you access this? I live in weston and remember hearing a few years back that people weren't allowed to go anywhere near it or something?

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they do advise people not to go out to it. I just walked out there one day and found it.

    Wicked exploration dude , you should get a gimbal for the internal shots or walk around Holding the phantom , would make the footage much smoother :)

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I know, I'm saving for the new DJI Osmo. But yeah a gimbal would be ideal to hold my GoPro steady. Thanks for watching.

      Ok, is there a way of me picking up sound from the Phantom?. Thanks for that.

    • @paulrysdale2142
      @paulrysdale2142 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CollidingPlanets don't think so , you can either get a cheap lavalier mic and dead cat ( cuts out wind noise ) or better still add the narration in post :)

    • @paulrysdale2142
      @paulrysdale2142 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +CollidingPlanets you can get lavalier mics that plug into your iPhone and give decent sound quality

    I lived in Weston since I was born and I have always wanted to do this? Do you recommend it? I'm fascinated about it!! Got a couple of questions though
    1- I've got watch the tide obviously, but do I use the "stone pathway" when you can see it?
    2- once I've got to the pier how do I get on it? Do I have to climb or hop a fence?
    3- how do you not get caught?
    4- if I do get caught what's the punishment going to be?

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, question 1..yes you definitely gotta watch the tide and definitely use the stone pathway. Don't go anywhere near the pier because you will die.. Question 2. For me there was a plank of wood going up the wall, i climbed up that or you can get under the fence. It's not that hard to get into. Question 3...Just hope for the best and try and keep yourself discreet. When your actually on there people don't take much notice anyway.. Question 4..personally I've never been caught and if you do what I've seen is that the police will just take your name and address and send you on your way. If you are only a youngster take someone with you and take care as its very dangerous. Make sure you watch the tide because it comes in quick and you don't want to be stranded there for the night.

    I hope that you are careful especially in regards to asbestos and other dangers. How long have you been Urbexing? It does look interesting but I have heard some Horror stories about the dangers. I wouldn't want to touch do it on my own

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, I've been doing it for about a year now. It can be dangerous. Asbestos is only dangerous if its messed about with or broken. Its not easy doing it on your own. These places can be quite spooky. Thank you for watching.

    I've seen this place in another video, and I still can't believe that they haven't done anything with this property! This could be such a money maker for the community. The homeless and vandals are going to keep setting fires, and someone is going to get hurt! All politicians suck! Tear it down, and build something nice.

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I totally agree with you. All it takes is Lottery funding and the place could be booming and they could build it back into a victorian pier. Thank you for watching.

    Awesome man fair play, how long do u actually have before the tide comes in I'm planning on going there this weekend with the race drone would like to get to the clock tower if possible 👍👊

    • @collidingplanetsexploring6630
      @collidingplanetsexploring6630  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      All you have to do is keep your eye on the tide times on Google and go out there when it's at its lowest. Once you are out there just keep an eye on it coming back in and you shouldn't have any problem. good luck.
