That was owned by a relative of mine Sir Richard Dansey father of Jubilee Weaver my great great great grandfather. So sad to see it in a worse state than I last saw it many many years ago. I had the pleasure of meeting Sir Richard Lloyd there many years ago.

I remember going here with my family as a kid I was a old to enjoy it but my cousin who was around 5 loved. I remember it beimg annoying over priced and the blobby family freaked you out in real life. I still don't get why they built. In an fairness it was crap

First time I've seen a video with the person exploring shouting out "hello" just in case. That was more respectful than a lot of those i have seen from this road. My mum was one of those that had to move, she was happy to, though she forgot some curtains lol. I did see someone actually go into my former home which was very distressing for me, even though I hadn't actually lived there for over 25 years. It was like an invasion of privacy. I understand the curiosity of people though. It's still very sad going up and down that road and not seeing the houses. Nice respectful video, well done.

Im from wattstown and my mother and father used to own it they had it since the 2000s and gave it up because of the cost of the building and my mother was pregnant with me so she couldn’t do it and then it was all my father doing the work

I went in there a few months ago and the roof is really bad, it's hanging on by a thread, and also there's holes all over the floors upstairs and downstairs

What a load of cobblers It wasn't traffic pollution that caused this problem it is the landfill site up above it in hafodrynsyns nobody seems to take that into account the smell and pollution is still there wait in crumlin lights and you,'ll see what I mean

I remember it well! I was serving in the Royal Navy in the summer of 1964 and was on a leadership course at HMS Royal Arthur. The final few days of the course was spent in the Black Mountains. We were bussed to Cwmyoy and accommodated in a disused school in the hamlet. We visited the church on the first evening and sat outside in the sunshine while one of our course mates played the ancient organ. An evening to remember as the wonderful melody filled the church and the valley.

During my Student Apprenticeship with the NCB in the 1960s I worked for some months in the Power Hose as part of my Practical Experience. It was then used as a Central Workshop for the NCB No.3 (Rhondda) Area. Its function was to carry out repair and maintenance of coal mining equipment beyond the capabilities of the colliery workshops, The investigation of the electrical switchgear involved in the 1965 Cambrian Colliery explosion was carried out here. One had very much the feeling that one was part of history! The 1911 Tonypandy Riots started here, when strikers clashed with police protecting "Blackleg Labour" who continued to operate the pumps, in spite of the strike. A few of the old hands at the workshop remembered with affection the "Old Days" when the Power House, and indeed the Whole Glamorgan (or "Scotch") Colliery, was renounced for its size and Technical Virtuosity. I find it sad that it could not have been converted into a museum of such "Glory Days" of the past, instead of just being left to rot and fall to pieces!

Once you understand the layout of the Asylums you can then get a bearing and work out where you are. Most Asylums used the Kirkbrigt plan some once you infonr tof the building with the clock tower that is the Admin everything on the Right is Female and Everything on the Left is male. Works, Plants and boilers tend to be at the Back or North side.
