It did take some time getting used to climbing and descending the tree. Once I figured it out I was comfortable going in climbing a tree knowing I was going to be up a tree quickly and most importantly quite not scaring every deer out of my area. I am 6’2” and 240 lbs, fit and comfort were great. I bow hunt and found no issues hunting from it. It is a little bulky to carry in and out of the woods vs some of the smaller open front climbers but I thought it was worth the bulk/weight due to ease of climbing (using the rail to sit on) and comfort for long sits.
I'm a new hunter, into my 2nd bow season and I got a Summit Viper because everyone said it's the best. The thing is over 20 lbs, and awkward to haul. A friend at the hunting club showed me how to rig a backpack strap because the instructions skipped that part. When I try to carry it, the cables rattle with every step, and I end up reaching back awkwardly with one hand and stabilizing it to keep it quiet, and my bow is in the other hand. I get to the hunting spot, manage to dump the Summit on the ground, and sort out a mass of straps and cords. I get it onto the tree and now this is the easy part -- it climbs the tree pretty well & is comfortable enough to sit in. But getting it in and out of the woods is a bee itch. The Lone Wolf is expensivo but looks like the kind of simple, lightweight stand I was hoping the Summit Viper would be but isn't! But having invested $250 into this Summit, I'm going to have to harvest a few deer before I can justify to the wife getting yet another climber!!! But thanks for this video, and please consider re-shooting it with a safety harness on, to keep us newbies from doing something dumb! :)
Great video. Just a couple of comments. I recommend that you always keep one foot forward locked in the frame and use the other to step back to provide leverage when you push up. You'd find it faster. Also if you leave a paracord dangling from the seat you'll know the exact height to lock your top stand in so you don't waste time moving it up and down.

It's good for a young hunter. I had to upgrade to a Summit Climbing Tree Stand now that I'm in my 50s. It has more padding and is much more comfy for all day sits with older joints and bones. ;)
i only have the seat portion. i use it to get up the tree and once at hunting height it becomes my platform for saddle hunting. very nice construction and very sturdy
I agree with that! I love my lone wolf, the only downside is the size. It’s not the most comfortable out there but the light weight and small footprint is the best!
I like the ease of how it sets and especially folds flat similar to my old original loggy Bayou but I feel safer with the seat climber with a rail around me with my Summit Viper Elite at 17lbs and the mesh seat is comfortable for all day sits
I agree with that Raymond! I've tried the one with the rail and it does make me feel a lot safer when I'm up there, plus the seat seems a lot bigger/ comfortable. I like this one solely because It is light and I can easily fit it in my car/ tent. Thanks for watching
Make sure not to have the belt bent the way you had the top section when you set the stand in place in your "hunting height". Lone wolfs instructions state to always have them in align with the tubing. If they bend back on its self as they were when you sat down they can fail. Make sure to place the belt on the tree first then place the teeth on the tree this will keep the belt from doing that until the tree gets to narrow for where you have the belt set.
Great comment! I've actually had that happen a few times up in the tree where the belt gets all turned around, I usually take my time and make sure it is facing the way it was designed! Don't want to be falling from 2 stories up! Thanks for watching!
Update I have used mine alot this past season.... Pros it's light and folds flat. Cons. Really can't stand the way you have to slide your feet into bottom platform to climb. Big bulky winter boots make it alot harder. The seat pad is a little bit of a pain likes to snag and pop off at corners alot. Overall I'm rating 7 on it. I have saddle stuff now and I find it nicer for all the places the stand won't go which where I'm at seems to be quite a bit.
Hi Zak, I know its been 7 yrs since your video has be out. I have a question, I Was given this same climber & & extra set of belts, I loaned it out & one of the belts got broken. I've wanted to replace it to have a 2nd one again. but for you know if this is discontinued from Lone Wolf? I can't seem to get anyone to answer the phone. Do you know if there are replaceable parts for this model as well? Thanks for your time!
I found it really painful on the feet to use this stand while climbing so I attached a set of snowshoe harnesses to put my feet in and that helped lots and pain free. Just my 2 cents. To each his own.

My only concern is standing to shoot. Looks like the seat doesn't fold flat to the tree and the platform looks small esp with the seat not folding back. Find this to be an issue?
I had the same concern myself when I was thinking about purchasing it. I can say I have had no issue, being 6' 205lbs, shooting in either the siting or standing position. Thanks for watching!
im pretty board shouldered guy i struggle with my chest being wider than the platform so it is hard to get my elbows/forearms on the bracing to climb with.
Looks really nimble but way too small for me. I like the big lounge chair climbers. But then again, if you're just doing some stalking and find a great place to get up in a tree fast for a relatively short amount of time, this product looks great. When I use my climber, I usually try to stay in it 6 or more hours. I couldn't see myself doing that in this small stand.
Thanks for watching Luis! It is very compact and weighs in around 14lbs perfect for quick setup like you said. I'm 6' and I thought it would be a little tight and uncomfortable but found the base weight and simplicity very appealing. I don't think I could stay in it for 6+ hours with that being said, I'd have to go with the lounge chair style myself haha
I think the Lone Wolfs have to be the lightest portable stands around. But I was hunting with a buddy who was using one of these and the strap broke while he was half way up the tree.
That is really scary... I always make sure that strap is inserted all the way in and I have a body harness... probably should have had one on for the demo haha thanks for watching and commenting!
My platform will not collapse back down without a hammer!!!!! Is there a trick to it?? No matter how loose the bolts are it just stays locked out and will not break back down
@@mr.skeptical3071 I’d reach out to lone wolf. I believe they have a lifetime warranty and that’s not how that should be. I personally haven’t encountered that yet, however I don’t take it out probably near as much as you do

The comfortability is about as good as it can get for a small stand like this. My buddy has the summit I believe and its like a lazy boy in the tree. I bought this because I do a lot of camping and hunting and wanted more room for camping supplies in the truck. I'd still recommend it!

I was overly impressed with this Lone Wolf Assault climber. I bought mine for $130 on marketplace, great condition and nothing wrong with it. Absolutely dead silent
Rory Nelson I usually keep my pack and rifle at the base of a tree and tie some rope around the bag and the rifle (unloaded of course). Once I’m in position up in the tree I’ll start pulling it up to me. You can buy tree hooks at Walmart for a few bucks. Screw the hook in the tree and that’s where your pack will sit. Hope that helps
I have one, you end up having to order an extended traction grip or you can only climb a tree the size of a coffee can. Put aside an extra $40 for the XL traction grip
Really I didn't know that. I bought mine in 2014 and the strap fits around trees that are about double the size of a coffee can. Great point though about spending an extra $40. You'd think they'd include it for the amount of money you spend
Bigger trees are important in helping to break up your outline. This seems to be the number one thing that gets me busted in my hang on. I got some fake leaves to help and it works. Also in a larger climber allows for larger trees as well as the shooting rail. So this is great for being light and compact, I'd get busted in it for sure. Realizing you can't really ever have it all with tree stands.
Matty W great point! I would totally opt for a bigger climber however my buddies and I always have to travel and camp where we hunt so I have to go light weight and compact able for the car ride! You really do need a good stance when shooting out of this climber, if not you can easily get kicked out of it!
having a seat like that makes me a little nervous but as a bigger guy, not having the rails like the sit and climb would much better that the 17inch width that they sit and climb gives you
Lone wolf are expensive because their made for the diehard hunters who venture miles into the wood or swamp, hence their lightweight. They also use some of the best materials and is known for their quality. So yeah, they are expensive for the weekend hunters that venture 50yrd from the road.
BIG mistake not to be wearing a full body harness while demonstrating the use of this tree stand. Harness should be attached to tree at ground level and slid up tree while climbing.
I agree I probably should have had one on, but I felt like only being 5'-6' off the ground wasn't too bad. Trust me when I'm out there for real I ALWAYS have that harness on!!
@@tdmjason I think the point being, some newbies will watch this video then try it without a harness. Should *ALWAYS* have a harness on even if only demonstrating 2 ft from the ground. Make it a religion to use it so people won't ever be tempted to cheat and skip it because "I'm only going up 10 feet today"

I've tried my buddy's summit and I have to admit it is a lot more comfortable than the lone wolf. However his model is pretty big and made it kind of difficult walking through dense brush. We do back pack hunting and usually camp with all of our stuff so I figured this model was the lightest and smallest for what I needed. Thanks for watching!

They got one coming out that is updated all the good stuff they kept and they made other things about it better

Melrose Design Company I’m exaggerating about the coffee can haha but it does limit you too small trees. The XL grip opens up a lot more tree options.
