I've had the small one since it came out. I strap stuff to it like a backpack. I think I'd like the larger one. I've been so high up in a poplar tree in mine. Just a little scary. Such a tiny platform. The tree waving in the wind... Hanging onto my rifle for dear life. Plenty of deer but I'm swaying a few feet at a time. Maybe I won't get it... I'm nearly 60. Almost exactly your size. I don't need more stuff and I don't need to be 30 feet up. Thank you for the video. I've never looked at anyone else's opinion. First video I've seen on it.
I love the fact that you are doing climber reviews. No one else does them because they are not cool anymore. I’ve killed more deer out of my Lone Wolf hand climber than any other form of hunting. I look when all of the hang on guys and the saddle guys are filming their hunts. It seems like 90% of the time there is a climbable tree right beside them that you could use a climber in.
Thank you for the instruction on these. I got back into hunting after about 5 years and bought the Hand Climber II. Did'nt even know there was a SMALLER one (Assault), lol. That said, it's still going to take some getting used to, my size 12.5 were hugging the edge all the time. Wish the seat was more comfy. Could only last about 3/3.5 hrs a sit bc my butt and legs just couldn't stay in that crouched position any longer. Like you said, it's light, silent and packs tight. Glad I found your channel, a lot of good advice for someone like me getting back into it and wanting to get caught up on what's going on in the world of hunting/products. God Bless
Good video, bro! Nice to see the actual size difference. I use the Assault and as a smaller guy (5’9”, 170 lbs) it works well but you are correct, comfort is definitely sacrificed for mobility and light weight. Good stuff! Have a good season!
That's actually a great idea to turn the seat around the tree if you want some more standing room or what have you. Thing is you have to losen the stabilizer straps to do so.. Another thing of what you can do and I do this personally is well first of all I have the assault and because there's a lack of platform space, I take a bungee cord And I hook one end of the bungee cord on the left side of the traction belt on the seat And take it over and around the right side of the traction belt and hook the other end of the bungee cord on the left side that way the bungee cord is basically holding the seat into place on the tree So you can flip your seat up of you wanna stand. That's what I do.
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors no prob. The bungee cord acts as a clamp and just squeezes the seat traction belt in the tree. Then so you can flip the seat up. When I do that I have plenty of space to shoot
For something less than 20 pounds and big enough for your hooves, you should hold off a minute Xop is dropping a flat climber around the first of hunting season that is huge and is sub 20 pounds
If you flip the seat climber part over and Allen head boots slide right in slot on platform bar you Glock your feet on when you climb it locked it then bungee it it don’t make a noise at all
Great video and thanks for the review Been using the summit for a long time Heavy into saddle various climbing methods SRT, sticks steps, sticks and steps don’t care for them Looking for something like this thanks again
had a summit 15 years ago just bought a summit 180 ,,,it sucked and sent it back, sounded like a tuneing fork, just lucked into a used lone wolf sit n climb $ 175 Took sit bar off and put hazmore seat on it, wrapped it in camo hockey grip tape
I appreciate this review! I’ve watched it several times lol. I’m still in the fence though. I wish I had both stands in hand and could make a decision. I also do a lot of waking, so weight can be an issue. I’m also 6 foot tall and wear a 11.5 boot. So the size of the platform is also an issue. I do a lot of standing and was wondering about twisting the seat to the side or back would give more foot room, in a sense. I’m needing something to push me one way or the other lol. I plan to buy one within the next week or so, so any input would be greatly appreciated! Now you have also sold me on the Locrosse Burly boots. Wore them out one time so far,(just got them for Christmas). They are fitting a little big, and I even went down a half size. But that could also be how they fit. I’m more used to lace ups. But just in case, I ordered the thicker felt insoles for them. I guess the next thing I may end up getting is the camo dust. I’m still up in the air though. I do appreciate your reviews though. I don’t feel climbing stands get the respect nowadays they should. Keep it up!
Thank you! The boots (even if you get the perfect size the way they are made they will still fill a little loose this is bc the air gap left in the boot. It helps with keeping them warm. If I were you I would 100% go with the hand climber! If you get it and decide you want something smaller the plus side is there’s guys everywhere looking for a used one. About the spinning of the seat I do that about half of my hunt I’ll spin it a 90 degree so it’s out of my way! Lastly CAMO dust will completely change your game! I do appreciate your support and I’m glad you’re enjoying the videos thank you for your input
Yes, i would love to get the 14# assualt hand climber just bowhunting, i have the sit n climber for gun and bowhunt, i love it but a 20# for me small guy 125#
Great Review. Used to pack around a summit until I started using a saddle a few years ago; however, I’ve been eyeing the LWHC for it’s simplicity and lack of fiddle factor. You sold me on it. I’m leaning toward the Assault HC. After saddle hunting, the smaller platform doesn’t seem too bad.
@Paolozzi Trucking LLC I still use my Kestrel some and I use my JX3 Hybrid a lot. I still like the saddle a lot, but there are cases when a hang on or LWHC would be “quick & easy” compared to a saddle. I have a LW Assault Hang On I could sell if you end up looking for one.
Thanks bud for the review. Really helped a lot seeing both compared to each other. Quick question. You ever hunt out of that during rifle season and if so how was that vs bow? Thanks sir
Thanks! And yes sir I have! I still enjoyed it what I did was cut myself a limb with a y on both end I could rest on the platform and rest my gun in since neither of these stands have shooting rails! It worked GREAT!
@@CliftonDenneyOnYourOwnOutdoors awesome. Good to hear. Thanks for the video sir. Think I’m gonna grab that Alpha hand climber vs the assault since I’ve got some big ole feet. Thanks again. Happy hunting!
I got a question on the hand climber. So since they went out of business is it stupid to still pay the full price at stores if they still have them in stock. Because you are buying a stand that if something is wrong you can’t send it back? I didn’t know if you had any information on this. Thanks
has the hand climber been discontinued? i cant seem to find it anywhere other than ebay and i dont want to get one if the rubber belts are going to have to be replaced every three years and the product wont be available to replace! Any advice?
