  • The Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 2023 laptop boasts the world's first glasses-free 3D OLED screen, so you can enjoy movies, create content etc using Spatial Vision tech. Here's a hands-on Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 tour, ahead of my unboxing and review, showing off the specs, 3D vision features and more. For full info check out Asus' CES website: asus.click/ces23_ts
Is this one of the best creator laptops for 2023? It's certainly super-powered, boasting 13th gen Intel smarts, up to 64GB DDR5 RAM and the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU. The Spatial Vision 3D visuals are undeniably impressive, working well for creative tasks that require that extra dimension. Plus the Asus ProArt Studiobook 16 laptop will support gaming and can retroactively add the three-dimensional effect to compatible movies.
Asus has included a stylus-supported touchpad and that excellent dial control, ideal for creators. You've got a wide selection of ports including a pair of Thunderbolt connections. And Asus' own laptop cooling tech, to keep things running smoothly. But the ProArt Studiobook 16 2023 highlight is definitely that glasses-free 3D OLED display, which looks stunning even when viewing 2D content.

Always thought nailing glasses-less 3D would be when the technology actually begins to become something a bit more than a flash in the pan gimmick, as no one really wants to spend extended periods wearing the glasses. Exciting to see we're getting closer.

I would like to know how existing 3D movies can be "retroactively fitted" to this "Spatial Vision" system, as was mentioned in the video. Bottom line, will there be a way to play Blu-ray 3D movies and watch them glasses-free on this laptop? I suppose that would be too much to hope for, but if software was made available to convert Blu-ray 3D to Spatial Vision that would be very cool. Actually looking at their website, it does seem to say that existing 3D movies can be played. Perhaps a 3D file would need to be created from a Blu-ray 3D disc first? I really don't know how this would work, but I am curious. I would really like to be able to just plug a Blu-ray player in and use the 3D display, if that's possible!

The same reason 3-D blu-rays worked on both Passive and Active 3DTVs. Despite using different technology, both were methods to achieve exactly the same result: sending a different image to each eye. Spatial Vision is just a third to do the same thing, this time without glasses. As long as you have software to decode the 3-D video (which contains the 2 images for each eye) and the screen recognizes that it's being sent a 3-D format (of which there are 3 in use... side-by-side, top/bottom and MVC) it'll display it no problem.

I bought it brand new. it's been 2 months now and it's been f**king hell. It is laggy af and when I open the ProArt Creator Hub it pops up a window saying 'update' which blocks my laptop from doing everything (i have tried to fix that by opening the Task Manager etc you just can't do anything)
In addition to this, the fingerprint sensor suddenly stopped working (most definetly a hardware issue because I have tried everything you can think of)

But why would any 3D artist want this gimmicky 3D view? That' s NOT what 3D artists would ever use. Like did they even consult an actual 3D artist before making this gimmick? Sounds like a horrible idea and probably raised price significantly for a feature no pro will EVER use. We work in 3D space in 3D software but outcome is a flat 2D image. Nobody wants to see stuff in actual 3D projection wtf were they thinking. Alienware m18 Gaming Laptop is cheaper yet twice as powerful but has no gimmicky add ons just pure raw power.
