    I fixed my impact driver after reading your comments about a loose wire being the problem. Whilst jiggling the active (red wire) I accidentally moved one of the very small wires next to it and it just broke off as it must have had a very poor connection. I re-soldered the small wire and my driver is now running perfectly. I suggest that anyone having intermittent switch problems first check all the wire connections to the black plastic box into which the battery plugs into. You never know, you might get lucky!

    My man, you just saved me from buying a new drill. Loose connector on battery board caused the trigger to work very intermittently. 🖖

    I recently just started having these same issues as you described, very irritating. Stopped mid screw, pull it off and pull the trigger and it would work, put it back on the screw and it wouldnt work..the ol trusty tap on the drill and it would go again..figured it was a connection..I'm glad I was able to find your video before taking it in for repair. Thanks for sharing!

    I'm going to open up my 18 watt impact drill and try this thanks a lot for the video I have been dealing with this whole intermediate trigger everyday since I am a electrician I do need that impact on a daily basis and it's super super annoying to constantly have to shake it or hit it and I'm pretty damn sure its exactly what you're saying

      Glad to help. I was happy to have been able to fix my impact and figure this likely isn't an isolated issue so I want to help anyone I can by posting what I found. I hope you get yours working. Keep me posted with the results.

    I had the same problem with my 2850-20 1/4" Hex Impact Driver. I opened it up and wiggled the RED wire and it didn't fix the issue, then I wiggled the BLACK (ground) wire and it started working. I re-soldered the wire and it's been working for over a week. Thanks

    I’m having a similar issue with my M18 Super Hawg right angle drill. I suspect it is exactly the same issue as Milwaukee seems to have let blind people Solder their connections...I will repost if I’ve fixed it but I suspect it will fix the issue. Thanks for the Video !!

    Thanks for the video. My 2606-20 M18 drill, after 3-1/2 years of daily usage, had the same intermittent problem. I took it apart and just rearranged the suspect wires that you showed and it has been working fine for a few weeks now. If it goes bad again, I will re-solder the joints. In the meantime, I will order a new brush card because the brushes are almost worn out from heavy use. BTW, mine was totally filthy inside so I vacuumed all the crud out of it too. Only problem was that all the screws were not the same length so I just made a judgement call about which ones went where, LOL. I love this drill and impact combo.

    • @higgunscrx
      @higgunscrx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it's pretty easy and if it's not working now, it can't get any worse really anyways right? Plus you might learn something too. If not it was worth a shot. That's what my dad used to say about ripping things apart.

    • @TheChrislanderos1991

      I had that same problem. I opened it and found it was the trigger being the issue. With the drill open I carefully plugged the battery in and moved the trigger forward and reverse. Once I saw it working properly. I put it back together.

    In search of............ I have a similar impact driver Model Milwaukee 2753-20. Where can I find the correct screwdriver bit to dis-assemble?

    • @higgunscrx
      @higgunscrx  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a torx bit. Not sure the exact size but an electronics/hobby store that sells electronic components such as resistors etc will likely sell a set of security bits (probably 20-30 different bits or so in a case) which has one that'll fit. I've seen these security bits at HD too recently where I live. You can also buy a torx screwdriver but you'd need to know the size or bring he impact with you and see which one fits to get the right one.

    I have this same problem, but if I rotate the bit a little it will work. The light comes on all the time. Do you think this might fix it? I don't have the tools to open it.

    • @higgunscrx
      @higgunscrx  ปีที่แล้ว

      sounds like the same issue I was having. The bits to open it can be had relatively inexpensively. something like this should have the bit needed.

    I have one of those M12 impact drivers, and have a similar problem (at least I think I do). Basically, a few days ago I noticed that right when I put the battery in it will run. However, if I wait a few minutes and then go to use it, the impact driver won’t engage at all. It’s like the trigger or the engine is disconnected somehow. But if I take the battery out and put it back in, it will work again... until I let it sit and then come back later (basically the same issue). Does this sound similar to what you encountered? Any thoughts on what it might be?

    • @higgunscrx
      @higgunscrx  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Removing the battery sometimes made it work. I suspect it is just enough to move the wire into contact with the terminal again.

    My legendary DeWalt 18v has never given me an issue in the 8 years I've used and abused it like dropping it off the top of a 12 ft ladder. I have this old Milwaukee and suddenly it is giving me intermittent trigger issues. I love Milwaukee tools, I use them as well as my DeWalt but what is it with these triggers ?
