I really liked this style of documentary. There was no constant narrative trying to control my view of the subject. It just let me make my own assertions and opinions. I would love to see more of this style of documentary. I thought it was wholly impartial. Good job Paul.

This is one of the best documentaries I have ever seen! They look so human and real, way less dehumanizing then in our western coverage. I know there is some propaganda included, but we have propaganda too. I absolutely respect these people struggle against our occupation, they have the right to govern their country according to their rules and culture.

I find it incredibly difficult to say that one side or the other is "right" in their fight. I imagine that if another country were to declare my government as illegitimate and invade my country to "liberate" it, I would likely do the same as these men are. Powerful footage. I’d be lying if I called these men evil or wrong. I never fought these guys, but I was the Sunni Triangle N of Karbala in 06, and in Anbar province N of Fallujah in 07. we lived outside the wire on outposts, and ran missions/patrols every day. I saw the people we were at war with living their daily lives. It’s hard to justify us being there, it didn’t take long to accept that the only reason a lot of us were fighting not for any of the bs reasons, but only to ensure we got ourselves and our buddies home.

I don't see any fault in defending your land against foreign occupiers. The Allied countries have no business in Afghanistan. The war could end tomorrow if they stopped the occupation. The Taliban were formed to fight against corruption after the Soviets tried to occupy.
I'm an afghan my self but people such as afghan must be ruled with an iron fist because there is too much corruption that has spread amongst the people and they need to be controlled and educated until the corruption is gone.

i am a muslim,seems you are not a hater, also a fact is that terrorists who name islam and kill unarmed civilians, interpret Quran their own way. Like Shia Islam is different, sunni and wahabi islams are different, same is case with non logical interpretation of Jihad verses by terrorists. Quran tells that don't make the opponent christians and Jews friends, i.e. "of the time of Prophet Muhammad PBUH" who are doing this and that, (These all christians and jews later accepted Islam) and were opposing islam by force i.e. armed opposition. but Jihadis made it look like a global verse to be followed forever and nobody can befriend christians and jews otherwise he is to be killed, while in Quran it is clearly mentioned that you can marry christians and jews and then Quran also orders that you are not to stop your spouses to go to Churches and their holy places and encourages ties with them several times but terrorists don't obey this, and then Quran says "bigger Jihad is to call Jews and Christians and all other non believers towards Islam" but terrorists "don't obey this verse either" Quran says Churches are also House of God for you to respect, but terrorists would blow them. Terrorists' islam is way different and accountable by Shariyah, these are just couple of things, there are many things like these which compel us muslims to fight against terrorists. See in case of Osama bin laden, he blew us embassy in kenya killing 8 us personnel and also hundreds of kenyan africans. why? this was clearly an unislamic act but they call it jihad. what type of jihad is this that you explode bomb where huge majority of third party civilians happen to be? he was a terrorist like hitler was christian, what if christians and jews do same with us muslims? obviously then laden would had been condemning their act. God of nature is an "Alive and Conscious Entity" , knowing us more than we know ourselves, we must fear His wrath before killing someone, killing is a gruesome act. Bible tells us God is YHWE which also means Alive, and Quran says God is Hayyu which also means Alive. So we must make God Happy by good deeds, as He is clearly Conscious, amen. they don't read Quran like other Muslims because while there was afghan jihad, cia sent hundreds of thousands of copies of Quran interpreted little different in jihad verses with Pashto, darri and persian translations targetting afghan mujahideen and youth so they come to jihad, cia did good, nothing bad, but this and other tactics by afghan commanders made (who fought each other after soviet union left while some of them were also up on selling hash) made this huge raising of mujahideen in islam's history

I saw a document about U.S. troops in afghanistan.Then I deicide that I want to see it from the other side. So I found this video. I watched it and I must say that I would feel better among those mujahideen than among the U.S. Soldiers. GI´s came to me like overgrown dumb kids. Otherwise, that afghaneses came to me like the wise men. Their´s reasons to fightfor seems to me understandable. U.S. troops, they don´t know why they fight. From what I hear, our united states military has officially pulled out of Afghanistan, I do have some questions, aside from there being unexploded ordinance like IEDs, RPG rounds, grenades and whatever else might still be lying around, is it safe for United States civilians to go to Afghanistan to see the beauty of that country, I have been looking at pictures of Afghanistan and I say some really pretty places and I would like to go there one day without being scared that I could be harmed, I know that there is good in that county, but after what we did to it, I wanna know if we are even welcome to go there as a civilian, and not an armed soldier?
