He used a "Selection Tag". Which you can access by making your Primitive or anything Editable first. Create a specific selection, then go to the "Select Tab" on your tool bar --> Set Selection --> Triangle (Selection Tag) appears in the layer. P.S. Make sure you have whatever you're working on selected. From here, just select the triangle (Selection Tag) --> Drag Shader you want onto the area you have selected on the Editable mesh, and just drop it there --> Unselect mesh to see the effect.
Aligning the objects to be the same height doesn't work for me. I'm using a landscape object and they all just keep having different anchors and sitting above or below each other.
I know I just had the same problem, but if you look below scale where it's at 80 percent, then you will see that it's put to 10 for rotate when it should be at zero like his.
