You are just listing the heaviest armor sets in the game. That is not "The best armor sets", that's "The heaviest armor sets that you probably will never wear with good weapons until SL300 when you have 99 VIT"

JosayyLmao Meh you basically get high defense armor and then just lower all your defenses by -10. Basically the armor is useless. You could take out the chain and get 40 VIG anyways, and only put like 30 points in VIT and still get better armor. Then put on a Chloranthy ring for stamina.
Smoughs armor is found In a chest, Catarina armor can be bought or found. Gundyr's armor becomes purchasable MUCH later in the game, and the other two armor descriptions are correct.
I bought smoughs armor, didn't find it in a chest, and gundyrs armor set can be obtained very early game if you decide to fight the dancer early game instead of waiting until after defeating the Lord's of cinder
most people dont do it though , even if you progress normally through the game the dancer can be very hard so to fight her as soon as you meet emma is probably a pretty bad idea

You don't buy the onion bro set from the old handmaid you have to do the siegward of Catarina quest. You can find him in a well then find patches near deacons buy the set keep it or give it to siegward and then find him in a cell over in the irithyll dungeon free him (with old cell key) then fight with him against Yorm the giant he then dies and you get a second storm ruler, the onion bro set and shield.
Milwood knight armor set is the best: It looks great, good poise and a decent defense. Couple that with the helmet of your choice and you're good to go.
Watching this because after beating elden ring I’m on a mission to beat all souls games, almost done Bloodborne, half way through sekiro (gonna save it for last because it’s the hardest, with the best but completely different combat., then I’ll be playing this including all the dlc, then demon souls ps5 and gonna think about playing dark souls 1 remake if it’s not too outdated
What bothers me most is the highest defense armor isn’t as aesthetically pleasing as other armors. I wish there was better looking heavy armor instead of fat looking heavy armor. I mean Havels isn’t too bad I guess

Resistances against status effects like freeze, bleed and poison etc. 2. Physical defence going through: strike, slash and thrust 3. Magic defence ranging across all magic types There's no "best armor in the game", there's "good against X" and "bad against X" X being a specific type of attack, such as the flame breath of dragons or a mere slash from a hollow. If you'd like to fair well against a boss that does physical dmg such as Gundyr, you could go for higher physical defence and ignore magic While against something like the deacons of the deep, you should go for something with higher magic defence; specifically something with high fire and dark defence Against someone like the twin princes, you can't really use something "completely balanced between both defences" but you can take a look and go "okay, lorian attacks more often than Lothric, thus I'd get hit more by him, thus I'd need something with higher physical and fire dmg" Your defence can never be perfect, but you can try to make it as good as possible by changing according to the enemy you're fighting.
I play socerer with a full magic build (no sword just my staff and candlestick) but in ng+2 i tried to get a good defense so I have gundyr armor with the crown of dusk and I look really dumb but it works

You dont unlock Gundyr's set after the first boss you unlock it after beating champion Gundyr in the untended graves i believe. You also don't buy the Catirina set from the shrine hand maiden. You buy it from Patches as part of the Onion Bro Questline

Huat? I'm able to wear all these armor sets and use a yhorms great machete with only 55 Vit and a few rings. I'm also only SL 120.
