God, Olly is such a monster. What I wouldn't give to see him and Mark Holcomb collab on some kind of project. Dunno if we'd be able to handle the riffs.
The end riff reminds me of the start of an epic battle when the two enemies are just staring at each other before clashing. Most beautiful thing ive ever heard
Check out I Built The Sky, which is an instrumetal solo project that has some similar vibes to olly's solo jams. Great stuff, another incredible player. Actually they played on a recent I Built the Sky track together
Whole song is so aggressive with the playing and so articulate at the same time. Olly has intense downstrokes and a snappy release. That outro riff is the creamiest thing I've heard in a long time.
There is something about Ollys writing that really strikes me, all my fav monuments songs have been primarily his work (saga city, ivory) much though I love them I hope he does more solo work!
First album has a few bits but I think they just kind of have this vibe with Monuments that's more about the writing and not the technical proficiency wankfest a lot of bands do at times. Sure solos can serve the song but Monuments is about exploring part writing and rhythm guitar as John and Olly have said before.
@@tarkenton3895 But a solo like this completely serves the song. An sounds like a grade A monuments song to boot. An the solo is far from a wank fest. Olly putting some solos down definitely wouldn't hurt.
@@crowing3886 I get what you're saying, and trust me is love to see some solos again. The solos on Regenerate are some of the most memorable of all time to me. It's just that with monuments they have this vibe of songwriting that they feel might not need solos because ultimately riff writing is more fun and rhythm guitar should be the focus in modern metal of this style for them
@@anemonaloco 5 years later and this is still my all time favourite instrumental to just put on while staring outside the window on public bus transport.
you can tell how much Olly actually contributes to the Monuments writing process...this is so brilliant...whoever mixed this needs to be the next mixer for Monuments...PUSH THE GUITARS UP BROWNE...it's why we listen
THIS IS THE GREATEST SONG OF ALL TIME. I HAVE HAD IT ON REPEAT FOR 2 WEEKS NOW. For those guitar players and melodic chasers. This is what you are looking for. I sleep to classical for 15 years and not just sleep. I grew up in lots of music and chose what sounded good and made me happy. Every little note/noise/all of this song just lines up so perfectly and I am obsessed. I have it on repeat every chance I get. Even 6+ hours straight. Idgaf. BEST SONG EVER
It has been a long long time since i was truly inspired by a guitarist..srv was the last time.its has been over twenty years but now again I am inspired
0:40 seconds in and already I love it. Olly, you really make some awesome music man!! Edit: Just listened to the full thing, and this is honestly one of the best metal songs I've heard in the last few years. THAT LAST RIFF TOO
Both Olly Steele and John Browne's solo work is f'ing god tier plz just make them monument material throw Chris' voice on it and have some solid tracks
Learn the full track, with every riff, hook, lick and solo, direct from Olly himself: bit.ly/LearnBalance
Good video, lack of melody though.
Anyone know what kind of Ibanez that is?
@@patrickobrien7647 I'm pretty sure that's the Ibanez rgr652ahbf.

Olly is an absolute lord. This is absurdly good!
Right on man, couldn't have said it better
Stephen Taranto man...getting props from stephen taranto...doesn’t get any better!
Yes, dude:) Very impressed with this man^^
Holy shit if Stephen Taranto praises Olly then that’s saying A LOT!
Yeah
This is.. SO GOOD!!
Makes you wanna do a cover right? I'm with you my man
You suck.
Hey Cole
That ending riff is the best thing I’ve heard in my life.
I'd say it's THICK in every good way possible.
Right when I read this comment it got to that riff and I stank faced HARD
man there's just something perfect about a reverse ibanez headstock
God, Olly is such a monster. What I wouldn't give to see him and Mark Holcomb collab on some kind of project. Dunno if we'd be able to handle the riffs.
Oh man that would be so cool. The dream.
Ooof that would be amazing

That guitar and jacket combo is absolutely perfect.
The end riff reminds me of the start of an epic battle when the two enemies are just staring at each other before clashing. Most beautiful thing ive ever heard
Every single riff in this song is sick enough for its own song.
I don't think anyone on the planet can confidently say that there's a better piece than this. What the actual fuck that was so good.
You can really hear elements of the songs Olly wrote on Phronesis, getting some proper Leviathan, Ivory and Celeste Vibes!
Reminds me off the watch. With the Tapping at the Start and all over the song!
I think Leviathan was mostly john
This is an absolute banger of a tune. Wish we'd get a solo guitar album from Olly.
You and me both!

who knew youtube can actually recommend someone i like
That outro is probably one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. Absolute poetry
Obsessed with 3:34. Beautifully placed. 🔥🔥
At this point I am simply addicted to this song. Amazing writing, phrasing, everything!
That end riff dude goddddd its too good.
It gets better the more you listen to it. Thank you, Olly.
The sound I missed to hear for long years! Amazing⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Olly man ! What aggressive downstrokes . Totally insane stuff bro !! (3:17)
Downstroke chugs always hit different to alternate-picked chugs tbh
Good lord...his playing is so clean and finger positionning so sound, it's just beautiful to watch on it's own
understood. same here.
Great to see more focus on rhythm playing in this lesson.
Thanks Jon. Nice change for us in many ways, and great to see so much support for the track.

This is, quite possibly, the PHATTEST sounding track of the decade
The Afro makes all the tone 💪🏽🤘🏽

Same here. There's a kind of emotion in what he does thake hits right there. That "emotional metalcore feeling"
I love every riff this man writes

John is known for hating lead guitar playing.
They're still djent, so you're fucken lucky you even get a vocalist mr picky lol
This is a masterpiece ! definitely gonna play this on repeat for a long time
New workout song for sure!!:)

@@anemonaloco 5 years later and this is still my all time favourite instrumental to just put on while staring outside the window on public bus transport.
This a mix of a load of riffs he’s uploaded on the gram and finally hearing them on a song is amazing

Everyone thinks John Browne when they hear Monuments but Olly is just as talented in every way!
I would even go as far as to say he destroys Brown!
@@miki_the_little198 that's a reach. I agree with the first comment. Same levels for sure
Christian Manion technique-wise i disagree, but their creativity and songwriting skills are on the same level for sure!
Plus he’s a monster playing live! He’s got the sickest stage moves I’ve seen
everyone wants to say Browne isn't as good. I disagree, I think both guitarists are good in their own way.
holyyyyyy. that riff at 2:07 is absolutely perfect and i already learnt on my guitar holy. what a riff

Wo! That was a punch in the face intro riff, great transitions, smooth af solo... great job!
The frigin attack on them notes clean and crisp is truly awesome
0:51-0:54 is my favorite lick. So sick.
Some of the phrases in that solo are soooooo good!
It is solid genus stuff, the end of the solo is so,,,,,,,satisfying
That lick at 0:46 reminds me the chorus on Melancholia by Flux Conduct (John Browne's solo project)
2:11 I love that aggressive bending vabrato

Love the hybrid picking at 2:01
