The industry needs people like you Dan. People with real knowledge that have an actual passion for reptiles not just in it to make money but actually care about bringing new species to market and educating.
Good luck with the knee surgery. We are alot alike. Pride, work ethic and being a self sustained person wouldn't allow me to make a gofundme either. Asking for help isn't something that was instilled in me growing. Do it yourself.
I was raised the same, don't cry or I'll give you something to cry about...all that stuff. I guess it can be profitable to play on the emotions of your audience for a money grab but it isn't gonna happen here and if I ever gotta shed some tears for something, it won't be on camera.
@DMExotics freal men cry but its done in private. it's like people want you to feel sorry for them, find reasons to get pity. Being a strong, independent man or woman is seen as toxic now a days, which is mind blowing to me.
You're perfectly fine at the yt thing. You're not some polished slick creator, but most viewers, especially herptube viewers, are more about substance than style. Plus you're content is all over place, expos, field herping, breeding projects, etc. Excited to see what's coming in the future from DM!
I can guarantee if this new venture finalizes(we are 5 months in and at the very last signature), you can expect to see something you haven't seen before and probably won't ever see someone doing again.
I can't wait til they pop off. DMExotics caters to adults, not little kids. That's what I really like about it. He talks to you like an intelligent adult, not like he's an actor on the Disney Channel.

This is a good idea. Have all the generic questions / answers in one video. I have to agree that youtube isn't pushing your content. I have heard that being on a schedule really helps. I've always heard that it's a pretty slow trickle for a LONG time for most, and then it blows up one day. You'll get there tho. I've always believed that.
I haven't given up but I have given up on the idea that this channel will ever blow up. I have been on a weekly schedule for four years lol. Recently I have read comments from people multiple times being mysteriously unsubscribed from my channel without them knowing. It's ok though, I am not a good entertainer or have the desire to be a jackass. Our business and professional side is constantly growing and I prefer being at an expo or event and being recognized as a professional rather than an idiot.

I’m looking forward to seeing what pythons are coming. I also prefer Cyprus mulch or EcoEarth or Reptisoil. I actually hate coco husk. Best wishes and hoping you have a smooth recovery from knee surgery.
Unfortunately, on the west coast, cypress mulch isn't a thing. It is readily available as an east coast product but not here. I used to order it in by the pallet but the people making that possible haven't done it for years. I am switching back.

Thanks....it sounds like what I have is not extremely complicated and wasn't created by anything traumatic. Just eager to get it handled and continue on. Like I said in the video, I have stuff to do :)

We are almost sold out from online sales so we probably wouldn't have much for the table anyway. We do have some pythons coming in the next shipment but I think our waiting lists will clear those out and the real special ones are for me anyway. Usually we turn away sales leading up to expos but surgery was no surprise and I turned up online sales wide open. Expo sales were a bit slow anyway and Pomona is probably the same people, four weeks apart and coming for the show rather than the sale.

Best of luck to you for your knee surgery and recovery! It is a bummer that you'll be missing the Pomona show though. For what it's worth, I think you should continue to just be yourself and conduct business and promote what you do just as you have always done. Maybe I'm just old school at 62yrs old, but I'm much more in tune with and much more likely to listen to genuine people as opposed to "influencers" and the like.
There is no one on TH-cam that I look up to and want to emulate. Those people all disappeared a long time ago....just doing me at this point and, in all honesty, I have already outdone most of the ones that came before me.

We haven't missed a weekly upload in three years so I don't see us stopping anytime soon. As long as we have content to share we will continue but if we have less to share we won't insult our audience with nonsense.
Can Kukuri Snakes eat Pinkies?
Yes, and sometimes we put f/t pinkies in the raw egg. I am accustomed to hobbyists asking if snakes can eat pinkies because they don't want to source lizards, geckos, snails, etc. I find the egg about the easiest and cheapest food you could give a snake.
Question. Do you use pure cypress, or the blend?
Here i chicagoland pure cypress is hard to find, but the various blends are everywhere.
The one I like is called ' No Float' , available here at Lowes.
Used to be Speedway gas stations sold good mulch every summer, but the last few years they have only carried the various colored types, and I am not sure that is good for reptiles, so i'm not risking it.
We used to get the one from Lowes but they will not ship it to the West Coast. The ones I was buying from time to time were ordered in to out of state Lowes and I had a guy that would truck it in several pallets at a time. For now it is zoomed which is decent quality and the price is the same as it is for cocoblocks since those have gone up in price so much.

No kids....I am retired(from one job anyway) and living an almost nomadic lifestyle so kids would really slow us down and impede our travels and work.
Knee surgery at this age would scare me! Just sayin…. I’m like a year or 2 younger then you and I ride BMX still even. Would scare the crap out of me if my doc said I needed that cause it would take me off riding! lol
It doesn't scare me, I am actually looking forward to it so I can put it in my rearview. I am still limping to the gym every morning, doing all of my snake stuff, creating content,, collecting pension, etc. I guess it just depends on your mindset and how many irons in fire you may have....I have a ton.
Idk if you mentioned it and I didn’t catch it bc of my ADD lol, but will you ever be able to export any of the venomous you work with to the US?
We get asked this a lot and we already do send venomous to the US for several years now but they go to importers that order venomous. I am in CA so we cannot possess venomous in this state. We also don't really work with venomous....we have a couple pretty vipers and the rest are just for export. The next thing that usually happens is people ask for minimum order amounts, they aren't importers and start dropping the names of importers that can "import for me". Import/export is a commercial activity so it is not possible to drop a few animals in a box and send overseas. We also are picky about who we choose to export to because usually the names of the people getting mentioned already have poor track records and it isn't worth the effort(TX and FL).

Would you be able to disclose either here or through a PM which importers you work with so I could see if I can go through them? I really want to expand my Trimeresurus collection and you definitely get the rarest/coolest animals with the highest quality, everyone else seems to only be working with the same animals I already keep
@@akumahtx6581 What you see in our collections are not always what we send out. We have a market with customers so cutting everything loose all year round would just make our business suffer. At some point when we stop selling to the public and stop going back and forth from SE Asia to the USA, we will make everything available via export. You can pm me…

Two things irritate me about those campaigns. One is where the TH-camr is already making such a ridiculous amount of money through social media and have the balls to beg for more. The other is when people post their sob story campaign and then the next day you see them at concerts, on vacation, not working, etc.
