  • More than half a million Turkish people live in the UK and several million are living outside of Turkiye. But are they happy living away from their homeland? In this new series we meet up with Turks living abroad and ask them about their lives. As we are in the UK to visit our families at this time, it gave us the opportunity to catch up with a few of the local Turks! Türkçe Altyazılı Seçebilirsiniz

We don't choose where we are born, but we are always exploring our dream place where we can live. I am an Indian who wants to retire in Turkey, i know turks who live in Canada and i know Canadians who want to return back to India. The best place is where you feel the best.

I live in Turkey, but I want to go the USA or CANADA. Because Turkey's currency lately is going down and politics aren't right in the way of. Everything is so expensive in Turkey rn. Even car prices are over the 300.000 Turkish Lira. I mean these cars are minimum level like 1.0 TDI or TSI, and their's hp under 100. Let me give you an example, you pay for a basic Audi car in terms of $ it's approximately 20.000. But in Turkey, we have to pay for these kind of cars at least 600.000 or 700.000 its like a 50.000$. In Turkey minimum wage is 4250 TRY and most of the people are earning minimum wage in Turkey.

Ben giden insanın sosyallik, kültür ve dil (gerçi birçok vize dilsiz alınmıyor) konusunda sıkıntı çekebileceğini, bunların dışında ekonomik durumun en son sırada geleceğini düşünüyorum.

Merhaba Mick! It is not nice that you chose to represent 'typical' Turkish immigrants to UK as kebab shop workers when in reality so many scientists, engineers, students, graduates, whitecollar workers from Turkey are living in the UK. Indeed, in such an entitled nation the place of Turkish people is making kebabs!? I am very surprised by this Mick as I was especially thinking you were an advocate for turkey since living in turkey and having a majorly Turkish audience! In fact I do not know the true purpose of this video(or series of videos)? Are you trying to get turkish people to say good things about UK? Well, of course these guys working in kebab shops won't be able to say anything bad about the UK as they communicate daily with British customers who are polite/civil/friendly to them as they see the Turkish immigrant in the rightful place of being their servant. In the real UK, Mick, which you didn't show, Turkish people experience daily racism in places of study and places of work because entitled Britons can't get their heads around the fact that Turkish people are studying in the same university as them or doing the same job as them!!!

A very interesting video on the reversal of the situation between England and Turkey.
60 years ago I migrated from Egypt to Australia. Apart from the beauty of Sydney I couldn’t believe how easy it was to get a job and with good money at the end of the week. Same as the Turkish gentleman said “You have to work hard” to make it ,and that is a fact. Whilst you still work and make a living, you haven’t even got time to think about going back to your country of origin, however, when retirement comes around and you’ve got plenty of time to think, that’s when relocation thoughts play on your mind for varied reasons. Not necessarily to your country of origin though. I enjoy the variety of subject matters in your videos!

Mick Amca, harika bir bölüm olmuş gerçekten! Neden?; İngiliz olmak, Türk olmak değil asıl mesele, dünyayı görüp dünya vatandaşı olabilmek mesele! Kimliğimizle (seçemediğimiz her şey) doğar, kişiliğimize (seçimlerimize) evriliriz.

The war is not only using guns and rifles, for example, when there is a hike in gasoline, people who think like you leave, then there will be no people who will say stop to this. You won't be affected because you left, but those who come after you will. Citizens of the couple live in Europe and vote here, they determine the fate of the people.(Translation )

We have 8/9 Turkish related businesses that have developed in our small town over the past decade. However, I do prefer life and living in Turkey (over the UK) for many personal reasons, my impartial opinion. Hi I have a different story to tell on the contrary to this video. I came about 9 years ago and I was already an experienced engineer in Turkey working with a top tier company.
The moment I have landed in UK, I realised everything imposed us in media is simply fable. I also realised how Turkish people are mislead so purposefully (generally about western countries lets say) for a bigger aim hence we don't wake up from our never ending dream. This is another story.
I did go through a racism hell everyday no matter who I was dealing with, at best I was simply ignored if not attacked openly.
I did work in real big companies here you would think better part of society must be in question. On the opposite people have had more atrocity as they simply can't handle you work with them as equal. I did meet some more Turkish people with similar stories some did already go back as they can't take it anymore, I am in the process of moving back and never again I would come back here. Rest of my life I will warn others how sinister people are here and just not to Turkish people but they oppress all other minorities (the ones I have met so far Polish, Italian, South African, Malaysian, Pakistani, Iranian, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Hong Kong, French) an average Briton I have met so far believes they are ultimate race, since Brexit many European nationals started to be irritated by this as I can see and the only people they can't even try to intimidate is Americans as they are the new Brits of the world yet I am not sure if they are this arrogant.
I saved some interesting facts to the end, I have been to South and North very far in UK, and I did have a very different experience especially in Scotland, where people were much more friendly and I was told an average Irish, Scottish and Welsh hates English to the gut which tells a lot about "Real British" people as these people have been living together thousands of years.
So all due respect uncle Mick, you seem to be a very decent guy but your kind here did chew me alive and spit back to where I belong.
