We’ve seen this fantastic production live many time . And we never get tired of seeing it due to the mastery is Franco Zeffirelli. Opera at its best at the best place the Met.

A set so grand it gets its own curtain call!

Indeed... I'm fine for new stagings if they feel it can be improved.... but I really think this is perhaps the best production of this opera ever done.

The NYT critic seems to despise it. I don't think he has any idea why most opera lovers go to the opera.

I think critics are seeing their opinions as less and less relevant, particularly with the age of the Internet. The original point of reading critics' reviews was because you COULDN'T get a preview - and that was your big chance to hear an idea of the theater or movie. But here: We can see and hear clips and make our own opinions. It seems like the only critics' reviews that are still relevant are food critics.... until we can try food through the internet. Who knows? haha. I seem to sound like a happier person than that NYT critic - I hope they get some fulfillment in life other than being mad at an opera production.

This was the most astonishing live theater I have seen in my life. Probably 12 years ago. Still remember this scene after so many years!

Sometimes I geel a bit down and think to myself, you know, what's the point of it all? But then I remember that it's the second act of La Boheme.

И Миша такой молодой стоит и машет флажком прямо возле красной юбки Мюзетты. Он у же поёт в хоре этой оперы 6-й сезон. Сегодня - последний спектакль в этом году...

The curtain dropped tooo soon too fast, so the conductor had to super-hurry the ending to make it in sync with the curtain ahah ... other than that, amazing staging!

Stefan Maria Schneider the speeding up is actually required by Puccini

@@yqviolinactually not. It says allargando 5 bars before end and stentando (dragging) on the 3rd to last chord. But yes, it's often performed with an acc.

Way over the top - and that’s why it is just right for the MET.
